you realize that the most accurate way to determine the best team in a group of teams, is to have a season structure? whoever is at the top wins, playoffs do not in any way show us the best team, a team can play mediocre all season, get hot at the end and win. Its not just Europe either, its most of the world that uses a league/cup's structure over playoffs.

I know for me personally, I love to listen to it on my Sirius but I LOVE to listen even more when MLS is being talked about.

In fact lately Ive been listening to ESPN radio whenever there NOT talking about the MLS. I flip back and forth constantly and if I hear MLS then I stay and listen, once they shift gears Im turning the station, I still love the show because there are no other soccer shows to listen to while Im in traffic for an hour!

have to love that Xenophobia, i think that format could easily work here, if they did a normal regularl season with a few meaningful cup competitions worked in, unlike the US Open Cup which receives next to no media coverage, and the SuperLiga which is a step in the right direction, but its not going to happen till the majority of americans realize that there is a world out there past the US borders, and they may just know some things we don't

I am a major supporter of the league, but I actually wish that WSD would talk LESS about MLS...

...because I actually enjoy the show, overall, but...

...there is a huge difference between legitimate criticism of MLS and ignorant criticism of MLS; and, when it comes to MLS, WSD is woefully ignorant and therefore worthlessly critical. It would be better if they just shut the hell up and talked about things they knew about. If they educated themselves, just a little bit, about the league - it's history, players, structure, context, etc. - then what they had to say would be both more interesting and more entertaining. But, because they don't care about MLS - and they don't care; getting moist over Beckham and/or maintaining an irrational and personal vendetta against Donovan don't count - they have no reason or motivation to actually learn about the league or to discover the very legitimate criticisms to be made. I expect, in time, this may change. But right now, they should just shut up about it.

I went to your site to listen, but don't have QT on my work computer so I couldn't. I'd love to listen, and probably would every week, but it has to be something I can listen to while at work, b/c I don't have time at home. So until it's available in WMA or mp3 some other easily accessible format, I'm stuck with the2gs each day and Around the League in 90 minutes once a week.

Looking for more MLS talk radio though, so I'll check back.

you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. If you are an older than 12 or 13 you should be ashamed by your complete lack of grammatical ability.

Like previous posters have mentioned, I also recommend The 2 G's show for a real mix of European soccer and MLS talk.

You are a moron. I don't know why you watch and support soccer when you are clue less about the game. Just by reading your signature a person can tell what type of soccer "fan" you are.

I actually enjoy WSD and I love the MLS. I have a more optimistic view of MLS than Steven and Howard do, but Howard rips Serie A much more than he rips MLS, and most of their anti-MLS thoughts are not unreasonable. Steven is very much on record that he thinks Landon could be a special player, but that he doesn't think Landon "gets it." However, they compliment him when he has good games, and they both thought his decision to offer Beckham the captaincy was a good move that Landon handled in the right way. I also don't think that they care as much about the playoff format as they care about the fact that everyone plays every team a million times, so that it seems like no one game is worth it. They also applauded Superliga, salary bonuses for wins, and qualifying for Superliga with regular season record as steps in the right direction. Howard said that he felt a Bob Bradley lead USMNT would be able to beat a McCLaren lead England side. They attacked USA soccer for not taking Copa America more seriously, and then they applauded the bravery and play of many of the players that were selected to go. Steven noted that Ben Olsen made Leo Messi disappear to the point where had to switch sides to get away from him, he has said REPEATEDLY he thinks that the next generation of USA and Mexico players look very good, and he is quite high on a central midfield with Michael Bradley and Benny Feilhaber, much higher on Bradley than a lot of the BS community I might add.

Finally, he has gone to several Galaxy games, called this summer of Superliga, U20 WC, Copa America and Gold Cup, not to mention the Asian Cup, a "great" summer of football. They say lots of outrageous things, it IS a talk show after all. But when they're wrong, they say they're wrong. Cohen came out on Abramovich's side last Thursday only to be completely against him on Monday. He's a big talker, but I don't think it's fair to say he's anti-anything... except Liverpool.

So what if his signature says Americans call it "soccer"? Isnt that what we call it in America?

I agree with you on this. Listen to WSD daily. I like their mix of MLS and other soccer leagues (certainly Euro focused). I am glad they are discussing Serie A more this year, despite Howard's overused joke.

I wish they would discuss MLS more and not just the Galaxy reporting that they do. I am hoping that do some more coverage on the playoffs once they start.

It seems to me that they are willing to discuss any MLS game or situation, it just probably wouldn't be best to have a call bitching about why they don't talk about MLS. Call in and discuss Blanco or DCU in the Copa Sudamericano or other MLS stories and I am sure you will get their view.

Whether you like their view or not is a different story.

And that's among the dumbest things in the history of this country. Why call it freaking soccer when the word "football" is the REAL name for the sport and the word is available in the English language?

Again, that's one of the problems soccer faces in the U.S., very simple and ignorant fans trying to make soccer like baseball or hockey.

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself.

And quick, make haste to warn Canada and Australia and South Africa and Ireland that they are using the wrong word for the sport. And someone should probably also warn the English, who invented the term "soccer," using it interchangeably with "football" until the late 70s. And what the hell with "Calcio," man! That's Italian for "kick."

OK, it's been a while since I've explained this, so here we go ...

"Soccer" is a word invented by the English to distinguish this game from rugby, the other code that was developed in an effort to standardize the old game of football.

"Soccer" is still in use globally. We even have a magazine, heavy on the Anglo influence, called "World Soccer."

Where association football is not the dominant domestic game, it is usually called "soccer." Check the Irish and Australian media.

It's funny, in most English speaking countries, it's called soccer. The USA, Canada, Australia (though officially they are trying to change that), Ireland...
