Found it interesting to note that the next 5 of our last 6 matches are against teams vying for a eastern conference playoff spot. A win here, not only gives us three, but holds the playoff forerunners flat. So it's like getting 6 in a game. Now I'm not so delusional to think we can actually make up enough ground to steal a spot, but then again, it's not impossible.
Have faith. If the Gals make the playoffs, they will deserve it completely as it will have required perfection on their part. But if they win the cup, it should either be done away with or made far less important.
i went through the entire second half of 2005 saying we'll be lucky to make the play-offs, let alone win the cup. in this crazy league anything is possible.
Picture it... LA Galaxy featured in the next adidas "Impossible Is Nothing" commercial. One can dream.
I'm going to keep my head up about this season and hope we can still make the playoffs. Like the original poster pointed out, most of the teams were playing against are trying to get a spot themselves, so with a victory, we get closer to them, and with them having less games left to play then us, they have less chances of getting more points, while we still have an additional couple games to play, which can be 6 points. Bottom line though is we have to WIN these games, I have to say if we draw two matches or lose one, say goodbye to this season.
I have been mostly away for the past two weeks and unable to watch Galaxy's last two games...and look how well they did!!! As a fan, I now consider it my duty to never, ever watch another game this season, in the hopes that it was obviously my negative "watching vibes" that have been hurting the Galaxy performance! Seriously, though, even if Galaxy doesn't make the playoffs, it would be nice to end the season by playing well...
Here's a possible scenario for how the season plays out (being optimistic when it comes to LAG, of course): CHI @ CHV (L) vs. NE (D) @ DC (L) CLB vs. LAG (L -- being optimistic) vs. FCD (D) @ N.E. (L) COL @ N.E. (L) vs. TFC (W) @ CHV (L) LAG @ KC (W -- being optimistic) @ CLB (W -- being optimistic) @ HOU (L) vs. TFC (W) vs. NY (W -- being optimistic) In this scenario, the fight for the last playoff spot will look like this going into the final weekend: LAG -- 33 CHI -- 33 CLB -- 32 COL -- 32 Last weekend: Sat-- RSL @ COL (COL Wins) CLB @ DC (CLB Loses) Sun (last game of the season)-- LAG @ CHI (Winner goes to the playoffs!) Final standings for last playoff spot: LAG -- 36 COL -- 35 CHI -- 33 CLB -- 32 So, there's your optimistic scenario to make the playoffs...... Just ignore the fact that we haven't won a road game yet this season
If we lose to KC on thursday, I'll feel dumb for feeling so optimistic right now. I can't help but feel as if we're gonna see the same shit over and over again. Lets hope we turned a corner.
