I just found this on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/ealegreb It's about a boy playing in Spain.(The user is his dad.) There is some info: Player: Enric Alegre Position: Midfield Date of Birth: September 9th, 1998 Place of Birth: Ridgewood, NJ Soccer club: Meliana CF Season 2004/2005: 9 goals in 28 matches. Season 2005/2006: 35 goals in 19 matches. Season 2006/2007: 34 goals in 22 matches. Regarding to the clip, he is really good and his long shooting is outstanding.
Unless he is being paid I do not think he fits the bill. If he is being paid expect a "cap him now" BS firestorm once the word gets out.
I don't know man. His numbers have already dipped from the 2005/2006 season to the 2006/2007 season. I think he's peaked too soon and is already on the downside of his career. Oh, and I wonder how tall he is. If he doesn't grow pretty quickly, he wouldn't be able to withstand the rigors of the EPL anyway. By the way, has anyone checked his birth certificate. He might be older than he claims to be.
Personally, I can't see why this kid isn't starting for the Melana team right now. When Melana purchased his contract, I expected the kid to start right away and play significant minutes. Since he is not his experience in Spain can only be characterized as a complete and total failure. Maybe it is time for him to come home to MLS?
Idiot. La Liga 9 is a technical and tactical league where americans need to sit and watch how its done before expecting significant minutes. Be a little patient. By the time he's 12, he should really have come into his own and be ready for the european game. He can always come back to MLS at the end of his career, like 20 years from now.
Pff. The guy looks at least 16 to me right now. He's done. Peaked. Finished. Kaput. If he's sitting and watching it's not for development; it's to ease his arthritis.
With our forward situation shouldnt BB call him up right now and switch him to forward and have him starting against the swiss
It's just a matter of time before the club picks up a Brazilian who'll relegate this kid to the bench.
We have a game coming up versus Catalonia. It seems like that would be the perfect chance to get a look at him. I'm not saying we should play him, but at least bring him in to camp, let him know we're interested before Spain gets a hold of him. Give him a taste at what it is like at the international level. That is if his dad can drive him to the game.
Only 20 years from now!? Wouldn't he be younger than 36 then!? Everybody knows MLS teams should jump at the chance to bring Americans back and use DP spots for them, but never before they are 40.
Do they even file birth certificates in a country like the U.S.? If they do, I'll bet you can't trust them.
How many Liga 9 matches have you people even watched?!? ZERO is my guess. This guys goals are all comparable to EJ's run in the 2005 qualifiers--all were poached against minnows. Next year, when Meliana is promoted to 9a we will find out what he is really made of. If he plays well next year in 9a he might attract the attention of a mid-table Liga 8 club and I think he will be able to get first team minutes after a couple months of seasoning.
All I know is that if I had that kids shot I sure as hell wouldn't be sitting hear typing, trying to live my dreams through BS. I'd be the one the all folks would be blabbing about! Cap him now (or at least a run out in Olympic qualifying)!
doesn't look like he plays much defense. He will never amount to anything until he learns to put in the work on both sides of the ball.
No harm intended. Basically, everybody's making fun of the standard arguments that get deployed about YAs by, well, us. Nobody's making fun of you or the kid (whose goals are pretty darned impressive, actually).
Finally, an American player who will shoot from outside. Perhaps we should lobby FIFA to have the goal height changed to 12 feet though.
