Agreed. Denilson looks like shit, like you said he's completely out of sync with the rest of his team. The only criticism I have of Brazillian players is it seems sometimes they are more interested in making a spectacular looking pass or deke that essentially means nothing when they are down a goal, Denilson had more than one of these moments. He looks like he's just going to go through the motions and collect his paychecks, I'm glad the Revs didnt sign him(not that they would ever sign anyone.)

Why can't we get players like that?

Denilson would have provided us depth but would have been a lazy contributor and I'm glad we didn't sign him. It's not like he was coming from Serie A or the Bundesliga, he was coming from Saudia Arabia. He knew he could make some cash here and he cashed in. Unless he turns it around and makes himself valuable down the stretch run and even more valuable in the playoffs, it'll be tough for Dallas to sign him past this year.

Having time to mull it over, a few quick hits.

01.) I will be very upset if we allow Dorman to leave.
02.) Ruiz should be taken out behind Gillette and shot like the rabid dog he is. Classless.
03.) Too much passing in front of the net! Turn and shoot!
04.) Noonan and Ralston had terrific games.

Awesome hanging out with the Dallas boys, 2 nights of debauchery. :D

Oh....by the way....4-2! EVEN KHANO SCORED! 4-2! EVEN KHANO SCORED!

P.S. Dear TeamOps. Here's a hypothetical. There are 12,000 some odd people trying to leave a half-closed stadium. Traffic clogging abounds. What situation do you go address with 6 people?

A.) the bridge, with people pushing and shoving and no clear two-way traffic flow
B.) the ramps, with people barely moving and milling around
C.) a group of less than 20 people, around whom traffic is flowing freely

If you said C, you're just the kind of brain-dead drooling Cro-Magnon they're looking for. Sign up today.

Funny irony - Smith completely outclassing Denilson! I would urge those smirking at Denilson's ineffectiveness to hold off a bit, however. He didn't look really fit, but I suspect he's the real deal, and is way too proud too be a 30 year old of average ability in MLS. FWIW, he didn't look to me to be mailing it in.

What made this game interesting and fun was the improvement in the running and passing, rather than the clutzy give-aways that were one of the reasons we got beaten by DCU. We were playing our game, and when we play our game we are hard to beat.

I am becoming very concerned about the right back position. I think Riley might make a very good right back in a 4-4-2 someday, but he got abused by Ruiz on that second goal, and I can't see him becoming a force in the air ever. Meanwhile, Heaps is past it. I think Petkovic might have really helped, and now that we are officially past the roster freeze, I think we are going to regret not having another top shelf defender.

My guess is that it's also about matchups. The Revs match up pretty well against an FCD team without Toja, Cooper, and Serioux (I'd don't think Noonan, Ralston, or Smith would find nearly as much room with Toja and Serioux on the field).

    Not so much against DC.

  9. I have a question for anyone sitting in sec 101-102. I am a STH and sit in 102. Last night there was a group of about 10-12 spanish speaking patrons sitting just below me in 101. Early in the game they seemed very exicted and were chanting, yelling etc. I then heard them start with an "ooh, ooh, ooh ,ooh, ooh" type sound every time Khano or Avery touched the ball. They would then stop look at each other and laugh. They only did this 3-4 times. I thought I was hearing things but this sounded similiair to the highly offensive "Monkey Sounds" sometimes heard in european stadiums. Did anyone else hear this?

When they start throwing bananas on the pitch then I'll be worried.

I considered that, and it's undeniable that DCU closes space down better than FCD, but I still think that the good guys gave the ball away way too easily against DCU, and it cost us dearly.

Really satisfying win. Khano looked superb--you know, his weaknesses don't look nearly as bad when he can play to his strengths consistently--that's the primary issue with him. Can he consistently contribute the things he does well?

On the other side of the field, I thought Ralston had a subpar first half, but thankfully picked it up in the 2nd. Larentowicz was quiet but Noonan was immense.

It's important for us that when our "core" guys--Twellman, Joseph, Ralston, Parky--are having off nights, that the other guys can pick up the slack. Really well done by Dorman, Khano, Noonan, and John.

    After Khano scored, I'd chant "ooh, ooh, ooh, WHAT NOW!" to those monkey-chanting people, if that's wut they were doin'. This is a little youtube video I stumbled upon thats related to this... even the best are insulted;

*The Revs looked horrible for most of the first half. Since when do we play long ball? The entire first half was spent giving up possession by dumping it over the top.
*Khano played brilliantly. In the first half, he was literally the only legitimate option for generating attacking play. It was, by far, his best performance as a Rev. And I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet: He scored that goal with HIS RIGHT FOOT!
*Ruiz is a complete disgrace of a player. The Reis incident happened right in front of me (113) and it was ridiculous. Reis was livid, and he had some choice words for that clown.
*Twellman played terribly. And he played poorly against DC too, I don't care what anyone says. He has not involved himself in the attack one bit, and he never makes runs for his teammates--he's been really lazy, just expecting perfect service every time the Revs have the ball. And I'm someone that actually likes Twellman, but someone needs to chew his @$$ out for his play and his attitude the last couple of games.

    Re: giving up leads

It looked like Ralston dropped back after we went up 3-2, and we played a 4-4-2 the rest of the way. I thought that was an encouraging tactical move, under the circumstances.

Oh yeah, I want to give kudos to Khano - easily the best game I've seen him play.

Wow, it's been almost 5 hours since this post and I'm surprised that nobody has written a snappy little limerick involving the words: porta-potties, cable, ties, and .com ;)
