I'll take Bretos over Hudson anyday.
Hell, I'm so fed up with Ray that I'm almost looking forward to hearing Tommy Smyth.

That's a valid point. And Phil Schoen (who sounds like a retarded FM dj) isn't doing that duo any favors. I suppose Bretos gets under my skin a little more because he's not supposed to be the color guy, and yet he's got this routine that constantly calls attention to himself. To me, that's completely unprofessional and amateurish -- something I never want associated with my play-by-play announcer. But I don't think color men need to be held to the same standard with respect to drawing attention to their, shall we say, liberty with the spotlight during a broadcast. If anything, you generally want a boisterous color man who'll emote.

Another poster in possibly a different forum said it best, "Ray Hudson is like the Dick Vitale of college basketball." To me, that's suitable. He's a polarizing color guy whose enthusiasm for the game is irrepressible, no matter how obnoxious. And really, that's his job, in addition to supplying an insider p.o.v. (which perhaps he isn't as consistent at).

It's called a limiter, it's one of the most basic pieces of audio equipment, and apparently GolTV does not own one.

Well, let's be real. GolTV is shit. They run the thing out of a shoebox for crying out loud.

I'm still puzzled by all the Bretos lovers out there. Really? Him?

Bretos and Sullivan work well together.
That's the best duo we have right now.

Not watching over something secondary like the commentary seems a little extreme. I'm not the biggest fan of his occasional over-the-top commentary, but I'm certainly able to put up with it, and it's not like he's completely clueless.

On another note, who's the guy that does the Bundesliga broadcasts? He's good (although I usually just watch the german broadcast.)

The Zaragoza-Racing commentator with the thick accent... can't understand much of what he says but much more tolerable than GolTV's 'talent'.

"And it's a one-nil for the Racing! What a crackin' gol of Serrano to make it a nil-one for the Racing!"

Don't like that Spanish guy at all, HDS. I skip some games when it's him on the mic and it's not a terribly great game. It's hard to stand him.

He says every single "S" sound with a "th" type sound.

His voice is very annoying and his English is of course great. :D

I can't say I prefer him over GOLTV's own guys. If it's Paul Breen-turner (spelling?), then yes I do but not when it's this guy.

I think Ray is awesome, so much passion in what he says, he knows what he's talking about, the little phrases make it more entertaining.

The only thing those guys lack is maybe a bit of research when they're covering smaller teams, you can tell they don't know the players at times

Re: Ray Hudson Makes Me Want To Shoot The TV

Who is the guy on the Barca-Bilbao game with Ray Hudson today? Anyway, he is fine until a goal is scored and then he is incredibly annoying. There is no flow to his excitement at all and he just repeats himself over and over. Example when Ronaldinho scored the opener today:

    "Gaal(he messed up I think), Goooool, Barca 1, Ronaldinho 1, Barca 1, Bibao 0".

It is very annoying and has a very canned feel. Not smooth at all. Quit repeating the number of the goal over and over for the love of the game!

The fourth goal of the match, third for Barca:

    Goooool, Barca 3, Barca 3, Barca 3, Barca 3-Bibao 1.

    Shut up!

    what's it to you?!
Re: Ray Hudson Makes Me Want To Shoot The TV

frankly, hudson is terrible. sometimes he isnt too overwhelming though.

Id rather watch my Madrid games on tv rather than a feed in my basement,so Ill stick to GolTV, and take it for what its worth. Its better than noting ya know.

I like Hudson's excitement. I think him and Shane are better than any other team we have to listen to. The two that work the WorldSportHD feeds are horrible.

On Saturday's Italy/France game Ray descirbed Gattuso as looking like a "T Rex with haemerrhoids". Quite an image.

Hey PPC, I hear what you are saying and used to be of your mindset. But then I decided life is too short, and just stopped watching. Now I am 3 weeks in to my "no Ray Hudson" experiment and doing ok. In fact, maybe I will expand it to a few other announcers (Tommy Smyth and Max Bretos come to mind). In case you are wondering who I think are "good", I very much enjoy the direct English feeds for EPL games on FSC.

Ray is frickin hillarious with some of the stuff he says. :D
    He's a pure joker.
But when he starts yelling out stuff and go way over the top with the mega-metaphors, it gets really annoying sometimes.

You can't question the guy's passion but somebody needs to tell him to relax and ease up a bit on the mic. His voice and those damn metaphors make me go crazy sometimes.

I think Ray is awesome, if any of my friends come to my house, I have to let them know about Ray, the guys shows a great passion for the game, yeah he shouts and stuff but he's better than just sitting giving facts sitting on a piece of paper

At the end of the day It's a tv show and the game is entertaining, and everyone i tell about Ray loves him.

You may not have figured this out yet. I can help. If you go into an interview sitting across from one of these American sports network execs, you better bring a hefty accent. That will pretty much land you the job. Although I like that Ray has a playing/coaching background, he is a terrible announcer. Tommy Smythe's funeral will create the biggest party I have ever thrown in my adult life. Ray Hudson has nothing on Tommy Smythe. Wait till the networks get "creative" and "match their talents".

One more thing, I also forgot to mention that I went to Latin America for 3 years, just so I could learn spanish...and avoid having to ever listen to Tommy Smythe or Ray Hudson again. Get GolTV in spanish. Ray Hudson is converting english speakers to spanish by the minute.

    Hudson is hilarious.

    "ORGASMIC JUBILATION!!!"

"There's gonna be some LOVIN tonight, in the bedrooms of Madrid"

It seems like he's gonna cum in his pants everytime Riquelme has the ball...

The man is very passionate about football and I respect that. It's not fake either, it's true emotion. Last year, when he and that fatass were calling every Real Madrid match down the stretch, you could really sense the emotion pouring out of his voice.

Like I said, the man loves football. I love football...and although I will not whack off to Riquelme, I respect a man that wears his emotions on his sleeve.

Now, that Phil Scoeafjdfdnakldfjd (pronounced Shane) sucks donkey piss. Lindsay Dean calls a football match like a corpse and that other runt sucks too.
