Actually, I wouldn't drop Buffel. But if Defour keeps on developing the way he has for the past year, he will be a superior choice for the n° 10 spot than Buffel. We can then move Buffel to the n° 11 spot.

What about Van der Heyden on the left?

Could work, but same problem as with Van Damme: he hasn't played on that position for his country. We'll see, I guess.

Dembele : OMG , I can't believe he went to Willem II in stead of Anderlecht. What a weird choice.
A frustrating choice, because what i saw against the turks from him, was very hopefull. Great talent, better than Vanden Borre

With Dembele, Vandenbergh, Sonck, Pieroni, Defour, do you think that the Mpenza brothers will be able to comeback to the NT?

And what are De Mul chances?

as long as emile mpenza plays in qatar, he will only be called upon in emergencies. If mbo mpenza starts the next season as he started last season; vandereycken will pick him no doubt.
Mbo Mpenza sat on the bench a lot this season at Anderlecht, but next year, there's a small chance he'll play at Gent (trade deal with boussoufa) . Gent is a perfect team for Mpenza, where they can use his qualities (not that he has a lot )

De Mul in the national team ? probably not. Maybe if he plays a whole season in the starting eleven for Ajax, but I doubt that will happen

The guy's only 19 years old. He still has some time to develop.

What to think of Stanley Aborah Jr? Will he be good?

    Bump

I guess this is as good a thread as any to use for this.

Do you still believe we have a chance to qualify for EC 2008? Mathematically it's still possible. And the remaining fixtures are mainly to our advantages, with our main rivals all still having to face each other.

    I wouldn't bet on it.

Neither would I, but I wouldn't rule it out either. I'd say we have something like 10% chance at this point. Several results would have to go our way, and we would need to get at least 13 out of 15 points out of our remaining games.

At home I don't see us losing much with this team. Especially if our lethal strike force remains fit, miracles could happen.

The trickiest game we have left is away to Poland, which won't be easy, but isn't an impossible task either.

That's a difficult one, but I also fear the small teams because we mostly have troubles against them, although I must say that lately we have a team that can play on ball possesion. As I keep saying: we have a young team but the future looks extremely bright.

It's mathematically possible if our direct opponents Finland, Serbia and Polen tie their crucial games and if we win all of our remaining matches. A 15/15 is crucial.

Both of last night's results in Group A went our way. 0-0 and 2-2, meaning the four teams above us in the group only picked up one point each.

Yep. Its amazing but after how bad the team started they may finishing losing a place on the Euro by just one bad game (choose one of the lot, i'm thinking the one in Finland, because it was the most recent)

Unbelievable, giving away a 0-2 lead against Kazachstan. We need a new manager, someone with balls, someone who is not afraid to keep pressing on. Someone like Van Gaal...

Its really a downer because the other teams played once again for Belgium with all the draws. Very sad.

Look at the bright side: Defour and Mirallas played a fantastic game. Defour reminded me a lot of Valeron in his best days, splitting defenses with perfect passes and I believe we are really underestimating the talent of Mirallas. The young dude is so gifted!

I agree on the coach: VDE has lost all credit now. 'De leeuw' for national team coach!

I agree. We pretty much lost because Vandereycken got afraid. Right now, I want either Gerets or a foreigner as our new NT coach.

We've hit rock bottom. I thought we did that a few times before in this campaign, but every time, they grab a shovel and dig themselves into an even deeper hole... :(

Vandereycken is not sacked, and they might even offer him an extension.

Well, at least we won't see Olivier Deschacht suiting up for the Belgian NT any time soon. :D
