Well, there's no doubt a few no-calls were quite devastating, but the team really came off on a better note IMO. As for the ref, does anyone look familiar in this Korea-Italy WC 2002 game? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9z01lzwbICs
All in all, a good showing. Anybody who expected a win is a fool. We were dangerous, created chances, finished some, and were a bit unfortunate to lose by 2 goals. Brasil had most of the ball, but that's what Brasil does to everyone. 3-2 would have been a just result, and anyone that's unhappy with that is just plain foolish. Good showing from our team, and I think it'll be a good experience moving forward.
Totally agree, i thought LD played well today, especially defensively he back tracked and took the ball of Brazil when they tried to go forward in the first half. He's one of the only guys we got that is fast enough to do that.
m bradley has a freaking great work rate. not to mention his heart and how he is refuses to be intimidated by his opposition. he also surprised me with some good distribution and control while under pressure, which were things he needs to work on a bit more imo. if he can consistently bring the attitude he has displayed for the usmnt and usmnt u-20's to club ball he has a bright future. pk was obviously dumb but i don't think he makes that mistake if the game is tied or we are leading. not that it should be excused of course...
I think someone here nailed it, so whoever said they'd rather see a 4-2 loss than a 1-0 bunkering win got his wish. So did I... if the referee hadn't been totally blind/stupid/bribed/etc., then it would have ended up even better. Honestly, we couldn't have asked for much better. Also, for the KC fans, I think Arnaud did us proud. He won us that corner, hustled his ass off like he usually does, and helped out defensively too (loved that close up of him tackling on the counter attack). Good result. I just wish we could play like that normally, against the teams we ought to beat.
We wanted to win the game. Thats how we played. We were getting after it. So I don't understand playing a guy to take a look at his fitness.
I know what Convey's coming back from. I watch all of Reading's games which is why I also happen to know that he's been fine all season and still barely makes the bench. Although he should be getting there more coming soon. so let's review his game in the few mins he played. He ducked out of a free kick header that scored. He didn't pass to a wide open EJ running up the middle of the field. He ran in the box with the ball and i'm not sure what his cross or lack there of was attempting to do He was all by himself with one defender on the right side, slowed down, waited for the 2nd defender then decided he was going to go through both of them. YEP, GREAT GAME CRAPVEY. LIKE I SAID , HE NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE FIELD. AND EDDIE LEWIS IS A FAR BETTER PLAYER THAN CONVEY WILL EVER BE. WHERE WAS HE?
The ref was bad on both parts. How come you all aren't complaining about the blatant penalty on Robinho at the end of the 1st half? You only see what you want to see.
Rose-colored lenses, maybe (OK, Brazilian wife ), this was a good game except for that 23rd player. Wore my US jersey because I was born here, but had my Seleçao jersey in hand the whole game. Very exciting stuff.
Magical game by Brazil. I just remembered why I like them so much, its because they and have fun and really play the game beautifully. The USA did well and it was unlucky not to get the penalty but we have had some calls go our way so I'll take the ref messing up on this one only cause its a friendly. I guess it was Convey that had the ball but Eddie Johnson was wide open towards the end and Convey just lost it. EJ would have had the ball on his left it would have been a goal, the form he is in. Brilliant endline stuff from Robinho and it was a very entertaining game. Bad foul by Bradley at the end
yeah i just loved seeing him make the us defender stop for a second by putting the ball out of play and running like nothing happened...
