--------------Emilio---------Angel---- -----Scholetto----Blanco---Beckham--Marinelli Xavier----Avery John------Brennan----Boyens -----------------Wattereus------------------ Subs: Carl Robinson Toja Denilson World wins hands down
Are we talking current players or the oldies like you just quoted? Right now with the DPs world wins hands down.
Reis Hejduk Conrad Parkhurst Bornstein Donovan Clark Edu Mapp Johnson Altidore that's pretty good, I don't know who would win, the world would have a better attack but the usa would have a better back and less weaknesses, it would be a very interesting game to see.
not necessarily....follow the link and read the story (those were actual rosters for the 1998 All-Star game)... There's something to be said for familiarity and experience playing together (like in USMNT camps, etc.)....
That kind of thinking is a mistake... sometimes "lesser" players can beat "better" players because the "lesser" players form a better "team"...
That's where you're wrong. I guarantee a US MLS all-star victory. It would be a repeat of the 1998 game.
Anyone else think this should be the all star game next year? It would be very interesting to see and to showcase the high level and high profile players the league has to offer. Not to mention it could almost be used as a friendly, usa players who aren't regulars that showed well in this game could help the national team.
Where do you want to put him? right back? Ok he's still class but don't think he could beat out Becks or Blanco.
it's nice to see how much better the foreign talent in MLS has gotten of late... this is a vastly better "world" side than MLS could've trotted out 3 years ago, or even last year. the only knock on that team is that it's weak in the back, but i think it's got too much firepower for any "american" side i can deam up. just look at the top 6 midfielders: toja, denilson, becks, blanco, marinelli, scholetto... great days for mls.
Especially when most of the "lesser" players have been playing together for years. I think it'd be tight, could go either way.
If I wanted a balanced team instead of the 11 best foreign attacker, I'd use this lineup: ------------------Waterreus Gonzalez-----Conde--------Xavier---------Jazic Beckham-----Joseph-------Blanco---------Van Den Bergh -------------Angel--------Emilio My subs : Sala Suarez Gbandi Toja Barros Schelotto Ngwenya Galindo
Well I just put out that XI in 2-3 minutes. I didn't go into major detail, it wasn't needed, the talent on the world side is so great.
Why is everyone using Watterous? He's garbage. Onstadt would be a much better choice. Boloni, VDB? C'mon, once again, garbage. -----------------Onstadt--------------- Xavier--Erpen----Avery John--Jazic Beckham--S.Joseph--Blanco--Fred ----------Emilio-----Angel----------- Subs: C. Gomez, J. Moreno, Toja, Guille, Galindo, Denilson, Conde, Brennan, Coundul.
Why are people putting Xavier on the outside? John and Xavier in the middle would mesh greatly I think.
The balance of power has shifted from '98. More good US players have left, more good world players have come in. I get your point, but it's not as much of a guarantee as it would have been back then.
Not seeing a lot of US lineups so I'll try: -----Johnson----Ching----- -----------Donovan---------- Holden-------------------Olsen ------Beckerman---Clark------- -Barrett---Parkhurst---Conrad- --------------Reis--------------- Subs: Perkins, Kljestan, Edu, Twellman, Arnaud, Alvarez, Robinson, Marshall, Mullan
I should have put a at the end of the "guarantee" sentence....it was more an immature jab at the quoted post (easier than going into detail about how he was wrong about how wide the gulf of talent is). I do stand by the opinion that the US MLS players would still beat the World MLS players though...
