Nothing like playing a game at the same time as the Redskins as well mid afternoon on the opening weekend of all the regional travel soccer leagues.

I'll be coaching during this one and having the Tivo working double time.....

The Redskins are my favorite team and I love football. But I would still watch the United game over the Skins, even if I wasn't going to RFK.

    United takes priority to everything.

    Aguante United!

Oh yeah and 15,000 at the RFK, but I could care less.

Yes...and it's "it's" not "its" when you're using "it's" as a contraction of "it is." Here, I'll use it in a sentence: "It's the internet, I couldn't care less about other people's grammar and usage."

    ;)

Or tell them to start cheering for a real NFL team - I don't have to worry about that conflict since my team is playing on Monday.

For the sake of our UNITED club, I'm overlooking this ;)

Have to say that I'll be at the Skins game, they might suck, but I've been going since the 70s. I understand the TV angle on the scheduling but hate it. People who think that MLS has/should have fans that don't like other American sports are insane. There are tons of United loving Redskins fans, myself included.

16k this Sunday. And note to those who mentioned it, this match is only on one of the 5 packs (the crappy one too).

Do you know when the last time (other than the Beckham game and the Guadalahara games this season) we cracked 25,000 people at RFK?

And someone should start a thread warning of the impending Metro disaster come 5pm at the Stadium/Armory stop. All those people coming back from FedEx are going to be going through our stop, if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure no one has planned to have extra trains available for both sets of fans. This ever happen before, or with the Nats (who are usually done by 4pm on Sundays)?

    Thx,

    Jay!

Mine is playing on Sunday at RFK but they sure as hell aren't the Skins. Hence my Tivo going double-time.

Got season tickets to the Skins. We've had 'em since '83. Someone else is sitting in them because of the scheduling conflict. That might be different if it were the last quarter of the NFL season and the Skins were fighting for the playoffs, but that's not the case. It's the home stretch of MLS season. It's for a nice seat in first place and the inside track on the Supporter's Shield.

It's not relevant to me if I'm in the minority or not, just like it's not relevant to me if "soccer has arrived" or if Jim Rome and the Brits are bashing the league. I don't care. For this diehard Skins fan, the bigger of the two games is at the old lady's house. If others don't get that, f**k 'em - I care very little.

How many freaking youth travel teams can there be in the area? Don't answer: I know, there are literally thousands. Which is one reason why youth soccer is such a mess. How many United fans actually give enough of a damn about the Skins to not show up at RFK? Okay, a few, but not many. How many people would rather watch the USNats play a friendly on the teevee than see the two best teams in the East play a late-season matchup in person? Umm, none.

On the other hand, how many crazy loud college kids are back in town? How many Beckham packagers will be back or have given their tix to family friends neighbors co-workers baggers at their local Giant? How many bandwagon-jumpers will be there to see what all the fuss is about? How many busloads of Friends of Jay Heaps will be making their way down I-95 on Sunday? Okay, maybe just a short bus of FOJH. A Mini-sized short bus. Driven by Mom. With the passenger seat empty because Dad has some lawnmowing to do.

My prediction: 21,316. And United 3: 1 Revs.

The Sunday mid-afternoon matches also conflict with adult league matches as well.

Now THAT is just plain absurd. To us, the unwashed lunatics, your answer would make perfect sense.... BUT a match-up against Brazil will always draw a number of fans to the TV rather than trek to RFK.

Definitely love your enthusiasm, but the half empty glass looker in me would be astounded if we break 20K. And how dare you NOT predict another shutout for Troy ;)

I've seen about 30-40 ticket requests just for those type of groups on Barra contact us page (and most people don't ask for tickets that way). Granted that doesn't refelct rest of stadium but it was quite noticable lol

I can't imagine that anyone who would rather watch a friendly on the teevee than a league match of some consequence in person would have been at RFK anyway. And actually for those people USA matches aren't good enough either.

You're right. I stand corrected. United 5: 0 Revs, with a brace from Benny, a goal in the run of play for Jaime, a goal from Lucy to get him back in the lead, and a surprise 40-yarder from Burch that he meant as service into the box but that dribbles past a lethargic and demoralized Reis. And that's just the first half. In the second half, they'll really turn it on. And, meanwhile, in the other goal, Troy will be working on Chapter 4 of War and Peace and eating an apple.

and you were going so well.

You must not have known that Troy already did this against Dallas. This time he will be creating the annotated version, with the accompanying study guide in Russian.

He probably learned to do that when he was having to work a second job at Galyan's and couldn't afford a good bong :D

... or should I post that in the "developmental salaries are for sucks" thread? ;)

Add me to the list of people missing because of youth soccer. That's 4 tickets sold, but unused - not sure which they count. I won't be buying season tickets without looking at the schedule first - this year was the worst.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's gonna be single-game tickets the next few seasons for me as well. I just found out this week that Mickey has a tournament the day of MLS Cup. It still really hasn't sunk in yet.

I'll be there; bringing a friend, too, who has never attended a professional soccer game. Add two fans from PA to the house.
