I paid $40 for the last Pats preseason match and parked at the back of P10....

I was also shocked to see a full page Revolution ad in the Patriots program!:D

    You know what??

I love the beautiful game and defend it against all comers whenever I can...However, and this is a big HOWEVER...games like this don't help "Soccer in the USA", especially MLS...all they do is make big bucks for the promoters and owners of the stadia..etc..etc..blah blah blah...
If this game was being played at Azteca..or Maracana...and it was on TV, bet your ass I'd watch it over anything on ESPN, NESN or the like...I hardly watch those channels anywho!..lol

To me this game means nothing. However, if you're a Brazilian or Mexican living in the US..or a soccer savvy fan who appreciates very good football then by all means...

...4 tickets to Brazil-Mexico at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro - $400+
...Parking your monster SUV in the full parking lot + gas to get down there- $60
...hot dogs, burgers, steak tips and beer for your tailgate -$75

...Getting vomit all over your brand new fleece pullover because "some fans" decided to fill up on beer before the game..and the big name stars play only 12 full minutes and then it takes you 2 hours to just to get out onto route one..while the guy who wrote this sits comfortably at home in front of his plasma watching RSL beat DC United on Direct Kick... priceless!

    just my humble opinion...

I just realized that the Revs/DC match and the USA/Brazil match are being played at the exact same time. I dont know which to watch and which to tape, right now, considering it's Brazil, I'm leaning towards country before club, but then again it's a friendly, and the DC match is a HUGE match for the Revs, this sucks, not to mention that the end of the Pats will run into the beginning of both, that better be a blowout.

Honestly, that really shouldn't be a question. OK country before club, except for the fact that it's Brazil and Mexico (if you are either brazilian or mexican, well please disregard this).

Watch Pats - Jets, from 1-3. TiVo from 3-4.
Watch Revs - DC, from 3-5.
    TiVo US/Brazil from 4-6.
Go back and watch the remainder of the Pats game, if necessary from 5-6. Watch the US/Brazil game from 6-8. Have a few beers. And then let jet lag kill me so I can go to sleep. Sounds like a perfect day.

Wait, let me correct that. Pats win 31-10. Revs win 2-1. US shocks (the World!) Brazil 2-0.

    Yep ... perfect day. :D

Ah, I thought the Revs were on at 4 as well, that makes it a little bit better I guess. Honestly, at some point on sunday the Sox, Revs, Pats, and US Nats will be playing at once.

Re: Brazil v. Mexico at Gillette!!!

When it's a friendly...There is NO Question...Club always before country!!!

Where are the priorities with the average American soccer fan??

Sure, if you live in Memphis or Seattle..or you live in New England and don't care about the Revs..yea..by all means country first.

But in the Revs Universe...DC-REVS is MORE important than any National Team game except a World Cup Qualifier and/or finals game, or other "REAL" National team tournaments..ie(Gold Cup, Confed Cup, Copa America)..that's about it.

See, in normal places, the Federation NEVER pits a National Team game(friendly or otherwise) against club competition..THEY JUST DON'T DO IT!!!

But, here..it's like..pffft...It's money dude..put the World Series of Soccer, a couple of no-name countries, throw in the Gold Cup and the kitchen sink against MLS...who cares!!! Wow,..pitiful!!! absolutely pitiful!!!

Normally I'd disagree ... but this Revs game is so important, that I'm going to agree with you fully. Club over country this time.

    You know what I mean...;)

If the Revs were 12 points in first place and we're playing LA...and the US is playing St. Kitts..OK..I'd watch the US, maybe!! LOL..back and forth!

I'm actually club over country except for a WC match or meaningful qualifier. The country already took my soul, so I only give my heart to private institutions.

Not sure why, but this amused me. From the AP:

Mexico will play Brazil at Foxborough, Mass., on Wednesday. ... (Hugo) Sanchez expressed concern about the playing field at Gillette Stadium, where grass has been put over the artificial turf.

"I was just informed that the field has two layers of grass, one natural and another synthetic," he said. "I'm not very happy about it, but we will play this match, and facing Brazil is something that does not happens every day."

The big question is whether or not they'll keep the grass down for the FCD match with the Pats opener so soon thereafter???

I'd imagine the turf was fully lined and painted prior to putting down the grass so they can take it off and be ready to go with a few minor touchups....

Hell, if they need help removing the grass in time, I'm sure they could get some volunteers to pitch in!!:D

    We'll see...

Making the trip down with a friend for this one, hoping to bribe Ronaldinho in to throwing the Gers group stage match while I'm there. ;)

92.9 FM just announced in their sports report this morning that over 57,000 tickets have been sold for this match and there is a chance that the stadium attendance record for a soccer game (MLS Cup 2002?) will be broken.

    Parking is $40

The stadium will be sold out(60,000+) I'd imagine they'd open the lots much earlier...I've got an email in to KB to find out exactly when...But I'd say get there early!!

and for the record, I don't think you're crazy at all!:p
