Man...did anybody else at the game yesterday notice how bad the ball boys (and girls) were?

They were always late getting the ball to the throw in. There was 2 balls on the field 3 times. Seriously, why are we using 8-10 year olds? Can we get some legit ball boys/girls???

What? Like that 20 year old ball boy from Dallas they always make fun of on Soccer USA?

Ball boys are supposed to be kids/morons.:p

The ball boys / girls are drawn from local kids teams, so they are different every game pretty much.

hahahaha, I really hope you're joking. You know we're frustrated when fans start getting pissed at 8 year old ball boys.

As someone said before, they are supposed to be young kids from local teams, it's something special for them to be able to do. I would frankly be embaressed if we had pro ball boys.

I completely understand *who* are being used as ball boys/girls. I'm just saying the games seem a little bush league when the ball boys can't throw further than 5 feet, are always late getting the ball to the touch line, allow multiple balls on the field.

Maybe get local 12-14 year olds instead of 8-10 year olds is all I'm saying

On several occasions there were two balls on the field - the second being thrown by a ball kid - and at one point the game was held up for several seconds waiting for a ball.

I'm not familiar with how other leagues handle this - but it seems like we're hurting ourselves a bit.

I'm sure if we score this is a non issue...

On some occasions, those extra balls on the field have been thrown from the stands. Not much the ball boys/girls could do about that but yes, there have been occasions when you've been very slow at tossing a new ball to a player to get the game going again.

That is a problem and could be a big problem near the end of a game when one team is pressing. Having to wait for a new ball means allowing a defending team to set up!

There have been some excellent ball boys/girls this year though but ya, they weren't so good last game.

yes the U-20 tournament was a complete mess for ball kids. some of the goalies were getting sooooo mad at them. i even saw the one goalie have to run 3/4 the width of the field to get rid of a second ball that was still on the field. the kid just starred at what was going on. sometimes they (the kids) would get a sarcastic cheer from the crowd when they FINALLY did something they were suppose to do.

at the last DC-TFC game, i saw the DCU defender waving to the ball kid to NOT throw him a new ball that went out of bounds. He took his time to go get it himself. There was only a minute or two left in the match.

Clearly our current ball boys & girls are not working out for us. Frankly I'm tired of seeing the same old run, gather and chuck - we need some more creativity. The team should look to get some South American ball boys - how about from Brazil?

Great. They can be our soccer academy. When they get old enough, we'll sign them up!

Dude thats sick, the fact that you would even suggest that is uggh

Wow thats disguisting and nothing to joke about Im not sure if your kidding but whatever, I was merely suggesting that any boys that are 10 and younger are too young for that responsibility. And Girls well, I dont want to be sexist or anything and yes I know I know girls could do anything guys can do but the und 20 world cup showed that it wasnt the case when it comes to ballgirling or whatever you want to call it.
