With Tim Lieweke running the business, and Klinnsman handling the Technical Director/Manager duties, I struggle to see where Peter Wilt fits in. Unless of course you re-define the GM duties to include posting "inside info" on Big Soccer, and of course delivering the kegs to the Riot Squad tailgate party. Not a bad gig if you can get it really.

I may be wrong, but doesn't Liewike have a whole lot more on his AEG plate than just running the Galaxy?

I would assume that even with a head coach who handled all the personnel matters that LA would still need someone independent of Lieweke to handled the day-to-day business operations.

I'm head of the local University's soccer club and suporters group. I'm sure they are professional enough to make compromises, and yet still be independant. It's two guys I wouldn't want against me.

Sandon's got the idea. The rest are just jealous they didn't think of it first. Wilt hanldes the day to day experience (regular GM duties and all supporter's group stuff). Tim L handles the top level stuff (like chasing Becks) other top AEG busines. Klinsi rules the roost with the team functions and helping the other two identify players.

Peter Wilt in LA? Isn't that like Drew Carrey in LA? (just doesn't look or sound right? :D)

As far the English rags talking about the 'burden of lifting soccer popularity in the US.....'. Burden? You want to talk burden? Let's talk Derby County or a hundred other crappy English teams that have 0 shot of being anything other than a doormat for the top 4 for the rest of their lives...

Now THAT'S a burden. Try to be involved in that, while also dealing with the crappy English weather and food....wait....is it too late for Feilhaber to find another gig? :D

probably too late for Benny, unless he goes on loan to LA!

He can fill Klinsi in on all the reasons to pick the Galaxy over Spurs.

The Sheva to MLS would make sense if Chelsea did end up getting Ronaldinho.
I'm loving the interest MLS is getting from players...
But Sheva is another type that raises the question...would he be coming over just for the wifey and kids?

Not yet, it seems. Maybe Lalas figures on keeping him around, because if Frank goes guess who bumps up to number one on that list?

If Lalas is smart, he'll keep Yallop until the end of the season, and sign Klinsmann a couple weeks before the exibition in Sydney. There's really nothing any other coach can do for Galaxy for the rest of this season IMO

With the destruction of 3 MLS teams under his belt, don't we already know the answer to that

Why would he keep him any longer if his mind is already made up, unless there is an issue with when Klinsmann would become available.

    The sooner the better IMO.

Give the new coach th rest of the season to evaluate players. Things always move slowly in the player acquisition market ... by the offseason you need to be ready to pull the trigger when players become available. Also the new coaching staff needs to start scouting ASAP for the draft, and decisions also have to be made for the expansion draft.

But Klinsmann has a couch and a tv. He doesn't have to coach the team right now to see who's a strong player and who's not. This was a bad season for Galaxy record-wise. The team just needs to accept that, and have Klinsmann spark a new buzz around the team by signing in the offseason.

Besides, how is he supposed to coach Galaxy now? When would he train the team with his system with the schedule they have, and almost nothing left to fight for in the post-season unless they perform a miracle and Colorado pulls an Idaho-Senator? Just tell Klinsmann "you're hired; chill at home and watch these tapes, and draw some plans up for on-the-field attack". If he goes now, he'll just be standing there doing his best Yallop impression until the end of the season anyway, so might as well not rush it, and give him time to decide where to start building from, because's he's going to need a LOT to time to draw up something that will work for them.

The way I see it the Galaxy season is done. Why not bring in a new coach now and develop the players and system while they still have some games left? Then he can build on it during the off season when new players get introduced and have a head start before the next season commences. Doing this will benifit the players because they know what to expect early on and they won't have the worry of adapting to a new coach and philosophy during the short pre-season.
