Its true, looks like Nani is taking somewhat of a similar path as Ronaldo did with respect to his first season/s at United. Ronaldo would hit the goalkeeper/post in many games. Literally an inch away from having a tremendous season....

    Hopefully Nani becomes more prolific...

Nani scored his first Premiership goal today helping Manchester United secure their first win of the season. Hopefully this is the first of many for Nani this season.

it was a cracker that gave man u the 1-0 victory and their first win of the season but it did take a very slight deflection of Teves' back, nothing to take away the goal from Nani though.

You got to admit he's adapted quite well to the EPL.

Great to see a kid I met a few times as a junior, then senior in Sporting. Can only wish him the best of luck.

He's done very well and is working very well with the rest of the Man Utd players although he has misread some runs/passes from other players on some occasions. It's fun watching him and Ronaldo passing the ball between them around the penalty area.

What a goal today and an important one too.

Great goal. Can't blame the young guy for not being able to control himself and doing his goal celebration. What's Sir Alex gonna do to stop him? lol

Nani said that the reports that Ferguson told him not to it are false.

    Great on him.

I agree I don't see any deflection unless it's an absolute hair on Tevez's head because if it's a solid-hit the ball doesn't go to goal but would've gone for a goalkick most likely.

I've seen the goal again and again in the TV and while it may have chipped the paint out of one atom of Tevez now luxurious hair, the ball suffered no deflection at all. Fergie was an ass to give the goal to Carlito. What's his point? Breaking his spirit?

Beautiful goal by Nani, I saw the game live and just wanted to watch it over and over. Being on a team like Man Utd will only make him better. Hes going to play a huge role on Portugal's NT.

Our best player so far this season.

Extraordinary how a 20 yr old kid can come into a new league, new country, totally new lifestyle and culture and just continue and do what he does best with no problems.

A full pre season with us + Cristiano and Carlos Queiroz beign around has helped him, you can see United have been scouting him for years like Sir Alex said, they knew this summer the time was right to bring him in.

    Keep going Nani.

Its too bad that when Ronaldo returns along with Saha, Nani will be relegated to the bench.

Don't be to sure on that, Fergie doesn't have any pressure from the board he plays whoever he feels is most competent.

Giggs is playing like shit right now, i'll be surprised if he gets into the side ahead of Nani.

The ball clearly deviated by a couple on inches and when you consider Robinson almost saved the shot and get his finger tips to the ball then those couple of inches were crucial. That was the point Ferguson was making and as he said, he was a centre forward after all. ;)

They did not want Nani this season but interest from Spurs forced our hand.

Giggs is playing well but no-one is putting the chances he creates away. That is the problem.

i was watching MUTV the other day and they were interviewing sir alex after the win and he was delighted with nani's goal but when they asked him about nani's celebration he seemed to get mad and just said "i dont wanna talk about it".

Nani should be in the NT squad, why isn't he? hes started all of Manchester United's games so far and played well, and scored.

Perhaps because both Simão and Quaresma are still ahead of him, no?

Anyway, he should definately have been called.

it just seems a little unfair, the last time he played for the senior side he scored and played a great game. players should be picked on form. it's not like Scolari was limited to a 20-man squad anyway.

I believe Quaresma is starting to fall out of favor.

I am talking about with the Seleccao. He does not perform well as a sub, and it seems Scolari is intent at leaving Simao in the starting position.
