scolari said he will call him up so lets see

As for fernandes hes proven that he can play very well defensivly, but to fully use his array of talents he needs to deployed as a centralmidfielder.

my only worry about veloso-maniche is that its kinda slow....

veloso turning is like watching a barge change direction in the sea.

Honestly, I think its time to let Maniche go. I believe if give the oppertunity Fernandes has the ability to do what he does. Fernandes has a beast shot, is very good with his long and short range passes, and I would even say is better with the ball.

The only think I would say that Fernandes doesn't have on Maniche is his awareness to get into position to score goals and his retarded work ethic...Maniche really wore the flag on his sleeves....

We did see the partnership... and we tied Belgium, lost to Holland, beat Israel and then lost to Italy... and those were their U-21 teams...

If Fernandes is to do what Maniche does he needs to release the ball much faster, Maniche never held the ball he always passed to the open player on the wings and got the play going. That's what made him such a good player he never slows the play down. Fernandes plays with the ball too much, it's great to see but in his position very unnecessary.

That game was not with the senior team. How would that partnership fair with Ronaldo/Simao/Nani/Quaresma on the wing and a solid back four behind them?

True...but what is Tiago doing now? Holding onto the ball no?

Why do you guys always try to specualte the lineup before the game? What does it matter, it's not like it'll change because some people on BS think that it should.

It's will be the same as last game with minimal changes, scolari hates change.

    here.
We aren't going to miss it. Don't worry we will qualify. We have a game in hand on Finland. We just need to realize what we are playing for and how important these games are which means taking no chances. Scolari might not be the best man for the job but he has a pretty good track record.

yet the partnership dominated every game?

vs italy and aqualani norceni etc we had 70% possesion and italy had 2 shots at our goal the entire match, the midfield wasnt the problem

    the finishing was.

vs holland they scored on a dubious penatly and on the only shot they had in the second half where joao periera got dribbled on the right hand side whch created a numerical situation in the box.

    good point!
but here we're talking about poland.

i neither think that maniche will return. how is he doing in spain? heard he was injured but this is quite some time ago.
i think that mf would be a good choice for that position, changing with tiago (depending on the form of each one).
moutinho has a brilliant technique, no doubt, but a horrible shot. remembers me of rui costa some time ago and before he found that killerinstinct.

Why change your setup at all. Find out what your strongest lineup and setup is and stay with it.

    I agree 100%

How has he developed? him and carlos martins were sportings two hopes a few seasons ago!

he should be reserve of Deco.

As I see it, Danny is more of a direct attack player rather than a playmaker like Deco.

But he operates centrally, thats the important thing.

moutinho is a bit more of a central midfield then a playmakler

While Danny is a number ten thats quick and very skilled.

I remember he and carlos martins rocked when at Sporting:D

True:D but i remember when danny was loaned out and played for maritimo the fans couldnt believe sporting let go of such a quality player

Carlos martins has all the quality, but no consistancy and is always injured

He is a quality player, but I don't think Scolari is impressed with him yet.
i.e. read: he won't play vs Poland or again any time soon. :)

For the game against Portugal I would like to see this type of line up.

This would be a very strong 11 for Poland if we went into the game with Portugal with this line up. Last time we played Portugal our line up wasent the best even though we won, we had several key players injured and overall that kinda screwed up our overall performance.

We have several young players that are performing very well, they replaced most of the older guys that played in our NT before the Beenhakker era.

This is the highlight of the game against Russia on 22, it was an away game for us in Moscow against a strong Gus Hiddink's side. We got no love there, they even started their Boooing during our Anthem. 1st Half Russia led 2-0, 2nd half it was 2-2 and the last shot was a near miss hit off the crossbar if that went in we would have won 3-2.

    Enjoy

Unless a major shower of imcompetence, like the one in Armenia, stains our game we should win this. Let's take a look at the facts:

    -Home game
-Poland's defence looked shaky against Russia.
-All players will be motivated and ready for this game. (Big name opponent, competetive rythm should be back).
-If Poland needs points I doubt Beenhakker will be looking for them in Lisbon.
-The Armenian disaster will be hanging above our heads, and Scolari will take advantadge of this for motivational porpouses.
-********ing Nuno Gomes will be injured. Badly.
-Andrade will lose, over the course of the following week, the 1000 pounds of weight in excess.

What lineup Scolari will use aka what will he call up:
    Gk: Ricardo
    Def: Miguel;Ricky;Andrade;Ferreira
    Mid:petit;Tiago;Deco
    Att:Q-Boy;CR7:postiga

    Call-ups that "should-but-will-not-happen":

Veloso; Fernandes; Antunes(left-foot bitches LEFT-FOOT); Almeida; Tó Madeira(He used to be good on Championship Manager); Rui Nereu (ok I'm getting carried away).

If we win, we can bandwagon our way throu Serbia and symbolicaly guarantee our qualification. (If we have the good sense to then go out and beat Armenia, Borat-Homland, Ajerbaijan and turning Finland's dreams of qualification into a Michael Bay movie in the last game of qualification. At home).

    That is all.

PS: I predict a 4-1 in a vintage Portugal display, with CR7 reaching the 20 goal mark for his country, and with Quaresma hitting two awsome freekicks. Eusebius Smolarek will score in a deflected shot (It will eventually hit Andrade).

4-1 for Portugal? No offence to Portugal, but we rarely loose a game where we have a 3 goal deficit. This game will most likely be decided by a goal, as for shaky defence against Russia that was only 1st half Leo made the right subs and took out Bak and we equalized and nearly took the lead if it wasent for that crossbar.

Also Bak won't be playing against Portugal, neither will Sobolewski they have been underperforming. Bak cost us against Armenia and Russia, and Sobo was horrible against Russia so i hope those will be left out which they probably will.

Line up still wasent announced, I hope everyhting goes well. I personally would love to see the following people not PLAY
    -Zurawski
    -Rasiak
    -Sobolewski
    -Bak
THose 4 did play against Portugal the first game that we have had but now all of them are out of form, so I hope Leo leaves them out.

Tiago should enver start, shameful performances in his ntl team career..only 1 good game ever, and that was vs serbia away.

petit-maniche-deco is what i think scolari will go with.

quaresma wont start either, i promise u scolari will play ********ing simao.

as for defense vs the powerful polish players we should play Pepe, and we also need him to man mark the beast from Valencia Zigic when we platy serbia

Sure optimism is good and I am sure Portugal will be ready for a fight, just keep in mind that were not going to Portugal to lose. Our aim is to nail the coffin shut for Portugal, the truth is that we don't want you to qualify because you're a dangerous team that goes in deep in those types of turnaments.

Not our fault that Portugal is stuck in 4th place with 15 points, even so because of it we are ready to take advantage of this. You do know that if we win it's over for Portugal right?

But if Poland looses or ties then we still have a chance allbeit difficult because we will have Portugal, Finland, Serbia and Belgium on our tail. If you guys beat us then I think it will be clear sailing for you guys, I think that were the only team who even has a chance to beat or tie Portugal on their own soil.

Do you guys know the starting line up? Who's injured and wont be playing?
