Hopefully he will do good. Im glad to see Benfica persueing Portuguese Talent and he is very Versitile but with Fernando Santos here and with Simao comanding the Free Role where will Coentrao go?

And we do not need Adu for what to loan him out to Olivais or Ohanese im alset.

this kid has load of talent. before benifca signed chelsea, porto, and barcelona were after him. he was one of the few bright spots for Portugal during the u-20 worldcup. He is still very young, but maybe he can make the starting 11 for benfica

I'm very disappointed Porto didn't get him. Good for Benfica I guess.

According to this article, They called him the next rui costa:eek:

Some info about him. He can play CAM or RWM....very skillful, loves to use his technical ability to outwit the defence. His real name is Fábio Alexandre da Silva Coentrão. He was born in Vila do Conde, Portugal on March 11 1988. Fábio Coentrão was also considered best player in the 2007 Madeira Cup where he won Top Goalscorer and MVP.

Fábio Coentrão joined Rio Ave FC in the 2004-2005 Season where he made the jump from reserves to the senior team where he stared as a midfielder a position he made his own. He became an instant hit in Vila do Conde with Rio Ave starting most games but even with excellent performances, Coentrão could not help the club from being relegated, despite having a good cup run in the 2005/2006 season where Sporting Clube de Portugal defeated Rio Ave 2-1 in Sporting's home ground (Where Fabio scored from 35 yards out). After when the club where relegated many clubs where after the player most notably Sporting CP SL Benfica and Chelsea FC where Jose Mourinho of Chelsea FC expressed desire for the youngster to join Chelsea FC where Mourinho compared him to Rui Costa, but in the end SL Benfica signed Coentrão on a 6 year deal where he will join after the current 06/07 season with Rio Ave FC.

I found this funny cause he still is young and I don't like comparisons.

Coentrão is considered widely in Portugal as the next Rui Costa:lol: with Rui stating this himself, despite these comparisons, Coentrão says he in honored to be compared to Rui Costa, For Portugal U-21 he is a key player in the midfield with him winning the 2007 Madeira Cup where he won Top Goalscorer and MVP.

This player looks really great! I saw his matches i the U20 world cup, and he was by far the best player in the Portugal team along with Bruno Gama. I must say that Benfica looks really good this year, with loads of talent and some very good players signed from the argentine league.

Cardozo is a great player, same with Bergessio. Bergessio scored 7 goals in 18 matches for racing in this years Clausura, and Cardozo scored 10 goals in 17 matches. They are in a great age, Bergesio 23 and Cardozo 24. They can make an excelent duo upfront for you. Cardozo can score goals on his head, because he is 1.93 meters tall, but he also have good tecnique despite his height, Bergessio are alot smaller with his 1.78 meters, and can do alot with his quick feet and good shot.

And when you look at the great talent of Contreao, Di Maria and maybe Freddy Adu things look very good for you. Looks like you also will have Manuel Fernandes back in your squad, and he is also a great young player.

Zoro are a great, strong and young defender, he also loooks like a good buy. The 20 year old defender David Luiz also looks great, I saw him in some matches in the U20 WC and he was a standout. Well you already know, as he has already played for you. And what about the serbian Sreten Sretenović, only 22 years old, and played 89 matches for his former side Rad Belgrade. Will be commanding in the air with his 1.92 meters. I don´t know too much about Andres Diaz, but he must have some quality since he´s bought in, and a fine age on him aswell, only 24 years old.

Looks like your team will be very solid this year. Hans-Jorg Butt are a experienced and good keeper, so I guess he will do a good job as a shot stopper. Must say you have had a great transfer window this far, even if you have lost a quality player like Simao. This season must be very exiting for the Benfica fans, good luck!

Dimaria is a sure keeper. I love his attitude when he has the ball, makes conscious decisions and has a good shot.

But with the loss of simao, how will it affect the team individual wise?

Fabio played just a few minutes in the Benfica Sporting game and was very impressive. Hes going to be a huge star. Hopefully Fernando Santos uses him wisely and lets the kid play. I think him along with Adu will be a huge part of Benfica's success if he gives them both some good playing time. Hes a great player to put in for Simao. His style is unique.

I'm excited to see Coentrao start today in the game against Copenhagen. I think he'll be every effective in the attack along Cardozo.
