I am usually a purist, but I wouldn't be opposed to this idea.

    Re: team logos

If FIFA really gave a shit about this, they would've shithammered MLS in 2003, when one of its teams was playing here:

And no, they didn't bother painting over the permanent football markings. They just painted the soccer lines in yellow over it.

    Re: team logos

They're not going to penalize a team for something that is mostly out of its control. If MLS was painting the football yards markings itself than obviously there would have been some backlash.

On the other hand, a team putting crap on the field for the purpose of making money or just for the purpose of putting its own mark on the field will not be tolerated, as evident by the occurrence cited by a poster in this thread already.

    Re: team logos

MLS =/= USA. If FIFA told the USSF to appoint a new league as first division and choke the life out of MLS, they'd do it, they'd wear a clown suit if FIFA told them to. Mexico is their money spinner, them being banned from playing Mexico kills them, plain and simple.

    Re: team logos

Except that it was under the Burn's control. They didn't have to play there. The Cotton Bowl was available in 2003 and the only reason why the Burn didn't play there is because HSG decided to save a few sheckels in rent by moving to Dragon Stadium.

We don't need that crap on the field, the paint gets on the kits. IN the NFL most teams have TURF so paint doen not transfer. Colorado, and the Red bulls have LOGOS on the WALLS, that look great.

Mow the logo into the grass. I saw someone made a field patch like that for FIFA 06 and it looked great.

I always thought that doing this not only looks better that actual paint, but it's also a LOT harder to over-do.

Personally, I thought it looked cool when the red sox had the sock logo mowed into their outfield last year.

    Thank you!

My god you people! Are you so unable to focus on the game that you have to be distracted by colorful paint on the field? Soccer is the beautiful game because it doesn't need all that crap.

well i think the logos will add american flavor to mLS, plus the field is too plain anyway and it should ad some pride for the team and fans imagine a nice big DCU logo on the middle of the field need that on the sky cam lolololol:cool::rolleyes:

I agree with mowing the logo into the field if someone wants to do that. If you want painted logos in midfield, you best just tune in to some RSL, New England and Kansas City games next month :D

finally someone is talking sense. I would like to see them get rid of that round ball because an oblong one would draw in even more casual American sports fans.

Oh and helmets and padding too so they don't get injured during celebrations.

They should also give them 6 points if they knock the goalkeeper on his ass and physically run the ball into the goal.

    Now THAT would be soccer.

Not sure if you meant to quote someone else, but I was being (and still am) quite against this. I don't see the need for this. How long can this thread go on?!
