rofl the field was simply horrible. there were literly patches that were an inches below other patches of grass in the field, surely planted there to take away our technical advantage.
But you didn't. Simple as that. We play again on Nov. 17, please reserve comments until then. If you can draw or win then you can rub it in our face, until then I consider it lucky timing. No team can destroy another ALL the time, that's the beauty of this game; there's always a chance.
I'm lovin it (im no talking about McDonalds) Cmon guys give him a break, the guy is happy for the result So am I, whats wrong with that? Talking about the field, I know the field wasn't in a good condition, because 4-5 days ago there was a PanArmenian games opening ceremony in that stadium, so all the dancers and athletes just raped the pitch. Why do you think, that the pitch was bad for your players only?? For those who thikns that we don't have a forum just follow my signature you might find some interesting for yourself. P.S. I just love it keep underestimating us, thats just wonderfull.
Excuses? Just simple reality. But the answer to your last question would involve another question which would be, why is it when an Armenian got a simple nudge or tap on the back he went bawling to the floor holding his knee? Double-standards my friend, don't throw from within the glass house. Armenia did well because Portugal didn't have a good holding midfield today, and got into rhythm early. Portugal took longer to adapt into the game, and instead of forging themselves all over the pitch from the start, only started in the second half. Why should Armenia have won? They only scored 1 goal and we scored one goal. But I do find it funny talking about excuses when you just said that if it wasnt for the Armenian defender there wouldn't have been a goal. Doesn't sound like an excuse at all. If Ricardo had saved the ball, Armenia wouldn't have scored. You really make sense.
Cmon now you trying to say it was lucky? lets look at the statistics Armenivs.Portugal 3 games 2 ties 1 lost. GF.2GA.4
The pitch was bad for our players only, because we had ONE training session on it. Armenia knew well ahead of time how the pitch was and had time to adapt their play accordingly should they have chosen to do so. Armenia played well, but as time went on Portugal got more and more into the game, and I'm sure you'll agree with me that on a different pitch, perhaps things would've been different. As far as it being because of the PanArmenian games or whatever it is you called it, what? It clearly wasn't just because of some damn dancers, I saw parts of the pitch where the mowing looked like it had been done by a drunk. Blame dancers all you want, but in Portugal there's been plenty of dancing, concerts, etc. on the pitches, and I've never seen any of pitches get in such a bad condition over it. Pitches are made to be stepped on, that's kind of the point. If you have a pitch that can't endure some dancers, that's a big absurd.
I'm not saying it was lucky, I'm saying it's a bit stupid to say Armenia would've won if Portugal hadn't scored since that's blatantly ********ing obvious.
Look Im not trying to make an excuses, it might even be absurd for you, its up to you. Armenia isn't a big country and as of now Republican stadium is the only UEFA certified field. The3re are2-3 fields under construction. All the international games are held in that stadium clubs NT e.t.c. and some of domestic games, and 4 days before such an important you can't have that big of event with thousands of people on the feild and after that some dancing groups about 300 people. Thats a shame I know, but situation is going to change very soon. If Armenia was a scandinavian country I've would of agree with you that the pitch was bad only for your players, because those teams try to keep the ball in the air not in the grass. Our team likes to play on the "floor", so it was bad for our players also. Half of our players are legioners so they had to adapt also. Anyways see you in Portugal on a "MUCH BETTER PITCH", and will talk after that. Cheers
Well at least Serbia lost today to Belgium 3 to 2. So only Poland and Finland remain ahead of us. It's a must win game against Poland in Portugal.
Thank you waffles for beating Serbia. Now if Armenia is so good, maybe they can take some more points from some of the other top teams?
Still hope?? You really believe Portugal wasn't going to make it? We still play the 2 top teams at home. And we only have to finish 2nd... I was never worried. And once Portugal gets into some kind of mid season form I'm not worried at all.
its comman knowledge a horrible pitch is bad for technique gifted players like ours, so your players were hardly effected and it actually helped u greatly. We will smash you in portugal, i wonder how undesterimated you will feel then.
your players did tricks?!?! roflmao those turns were done so slowly even scolari could have done them better...the only reason they ran past ferriera was because the pitch on that side was simply horrible and he kept slipping tryingto cut of the angle. your players lost the ball countless times lmao. we will smash u just like we did to belgium at home.
Ok whatever, I'm not going to argue. I'll talk to you after Portugal-Armenia, then I hope you won't say that you had a bad pitch in Lisbon or wherever the game is going to be. By the way what score is a smashing result for you??? P.S. Talking about taking points, from other "top" teams. We already did. We played a draw with Finland in Yerevan and beat Poland in Yerevan. Now we have to beat Belgium to get the 5th. place, and don't worry Serbia is going to complain about the pitch also after they will play with us in Yerevan . Man I hope UEFA didn't cancel the games with Azerbaijan dang it. P.P.S. I politely ask the moderators not to delete or close this topic, untill NOV.18 (after the Portugal-Armenia game) So I can quote on some of this replys.
Sorry, Armenia isnt gonna qualify. Tying Portugal is as good as its gonna get im afraid... Armenia played well today but Portugal started very poorly and really didnt bring their A game. congrats to Armenia for tying Portugal at home. Must be one hell of a party in yerevan. Theres only one Ronaldo.
Today Poland played Russia in a friendly, it ended up as a draw 2-2. Hiddink's side is pretty solid, we had a few more decent chances but they never materialized but I am happy Poland managed a draw against Russia on their home turf. We lost to Armenia the last time, should have ended up as a draw or even a win but we never put any of our chances away. ALso our defender pretty much lost us that game when we gave away a foul, the set piece got the goal for Armenia and Poland ended up losing 1-0. Portugal at least got a draw and a point, so you guys should be happy about that. Next stop is September 8, Portugal vs Poland; this should be a good game.
Yeah, I don't see why all of you are complaining. You got a point from this game! We on the other hand F**** up in Yerevan.
Worst game I've seen Portugal play in years!!! Ive seen better Portugal losses then this tie game. Better shape up and get their acts together if they want to beat Poland. Poland is looking very strong. End of story!
Thanks for adding a bit of class to this thread EURODAD.... chalk it up to "you win some and you lose some" The Euros are all about these kinda games...smaller soccer nations surprising the bigger ones... The bigger picture is this... Group A is wide open now and has become more exciting... I cant wait for the return leg of this match.... Simon Allen World Soccer Wrap
All these armenian posters (are they really? ) are well aware that Portugal is stronger and that's the main reason why they're throwing at our faces. We know what led to this draw and definitely wasn't because of the armenian supremacy...but they still had the merit to draw us. Let them have it and I hope they steal more points against the other teams Let us have the contentment that they're acting like they draw the biggest nation on Earth
