Per Capita income of Tajikistan is less than the cost of a year's soccer in a run of the mill U.S. club soccer program.
Re: Tajikistan 4 USA 3 Quite a striking statistic. That said, this wasn't a defeat for the well-heeled minivan set, which I know is the stereotype of the composition of our national youth teams. In the match, the U.S. started 2 African immigrants, 2 Hispanic Americans, and 4 African Americans.
Re: Tajikistan 4 USA 3 Sorry BG11 but if you wanted to watch the game later then don't come to a site where people will be taliking about it.......
Re: Tajikistan 4 USA 3 Ummm or you could use your brain and put Tajikistan vs USA [R] so that people knew the RESULT was inside. Also, that is why I stayed away from the YOUTH NATIONAL TEAM board. Maybe if people followed common sense, and could figure out where to post things, the issue would have been fine.
Re: Tajikistan 4 USA 3 Because you're kind and have a heart? Or even just because you accept the conventions of this site?
Re: Tajikistan 4 USA 3 I'm brain dead because you posted a score in the subject line when you shouldn't have...and because you posted it on the wrong page? Makes perfect sense.
Re: Tajikistan 4 USA 3 Or is it the scoreline? Apologies for posting the score but the content it still up for discussion......
Re: Tajikistan 4 USA 3 Well now that you mention it a Stop sign is just a re-arranged TOS taking a P Moderator: Feel free to delete the thread.
Re: Tajikistan 4 USA 3 THe USA should not lose to Tajikstan in anything, not now not 20 years ago. Maybe they should have started by putting together a GOOD D.
Re: Tajikistan 4 USA 3 I looked at the goals on the FIFA site http://www.fifa.com/u17worldcup/video/videolist.html The first Tajik goal came because a defender chose not to attack the ball, rather he waited for an interior defender (who never materialized) to rush out and challenge. The Tajik attacker gleefully accepted the extra yardage before shooting and catching a nice deflection.. The second goal was interesting as well, when the Tajik attacker squared the ball there were 4 U.S. defenders on the 6 yard line. Two went to the posts but the defender that went to the top post left an attacker open who was able to distract the keeper.Either the keeper or the defender should have cleared out that attacker. It also looks as though the goalie could have stopped the shot but it's possible that the attacker nearby was a distracting factor. The mids were slow in tracking back as well and applied no pressure to the shooter. The third Tajik goal was even worse, the attacker gets the ball with a man on and another defender indian file right behind him, instead of putting in a thumping tackle the defender elects to shadow the Tajik attacker as he angle-drifts toward the box. When the U.S. defender realizes that the guy is about to shoot he tries a strange versionof a slide tackle,he misses completely(the "tackle" seemed designed to push the attacker wide rather than attempt to win the balll) ,the defender gets up just as the Tajik attacker lets loose with the shot.I counted 3 U.S.defenders out of position as the shot is struck. The 4th goal is again an angle-drift,this time from the opposite side. Two defenders were marking a Tajik striker in the box,One should have broken off that assignment earlier and tried to pressure the guy with the ball. It was a class goal however and apart from the extra pressure that could have been applied by a charging defender there was very little that else that would have stopped the shot. To me it seemed that the Tajiks were loading the gun from 35 yards but the U.S.Coaching staff didn't (or couldn't ?) adapt the game plan to counter the threat. 2 of the 3 U.S. goals came from set pieces so they look solid on that front. Once again I ask where are the playmakers ???? Not in residency at Bradenton apparently.
this result against Tajikstan is simply reflective of the current ODP system and what they look for, early maturing, mostly athletic, no defensive skill set, extremely fast atheletes. I know a lot of you will blast me out for this, but how does the u.s. give up 4 goals to Tajikistan ??? easy, the u.s. controlled the play with a lot of nice passes to their own players, but not one of them looking to make any decent runs, or any one having the cajones to shoot on the goal. How many wall passes did any one see out there, I saw one, where Ibrahim rcvd the ball and then stopped dead in the box turned and lost it. Give credit to Tajakistan they shot the ball from (gasp) outside the 18 and scored what twice from there alone. I think that any good u-17 club ala Magic, Texans, Barca, Internationals, Pasco, CASL ect could have played better. Not what one expects from the coaches at the u-17 Nat'l team level.
Re: Tajikistan 4 USA 3 gotta be careful with this guy folks. He doesn't handle neg reps really well, so you'll get a neg rep right back. I will rue the day I ever crossed his path.
Not sure about the other clubs but there were 3 guys from Texans out there today. I agree with you mostly but, I thought the second goal they scored (called back for offside) was a nice little combination. I didn't think he was offside either.
Agree with you WestHammer. I thought we'd see Urso at some point. I think Lambo is a better communicator with his defenders,he was certainly vocal at Magic.I hope he gets a game.
How many goals did Borat get? Seriously though, thats a crappy result. To give up four goals is pretty awful defending. You are not going to have a chance in many games if you give up that many.
I like it .....final score BORAT 4 , Uncle Sam 3.....all u can say about that game. I think Mr. Bean was the coach for the U.S., and Inspector Clouseau was in charge of training the defense, eh, the ball, where iz zee ball..
