This is getting ridiculous! I want see sydney FC play the LA galaxy, not who-ever-wants-to-earn-a-million "playing" for sydney. I don't care less if zidane is coming out if its gonna be like this.

This has got as much to do with football as a bloody spice girls reunion show!!! Be funny if the cove boycott the "game"

    I agree Sammydog and Epris.

The Barthez link officially makes this a joke. It would be an insult to Clint Bolton, though I'm sure Bolton being a gentleman would appreciate to a degree having Barthez there to meet and 'learn from.' But keepers generally play full games and having Barthez there would mean that Bolton would miss atleast around 1/3 of the match, or more likely a whole half of football. And shock horror if one of the A-League's leading keepers and former Socceroo Bolton is shafted from the game altogether for this Fly By Barthez. It's highly unfair.

It's unfair on the whole Sydney FC squad, to be simply shafted like this for some Big Paycheck Mercenaries who are not at all interested in staying longer term. By longer term I mean guest appearance atleast.

Hmm I wonder, I doubt it could happen, not with only 2 rig ins anyway, but I wonder if it's possible, if this circus continues, if the Sydney players may boycott/come up with excuses to withdraw from the game, in solidarity of the shafted team mates?

And lol, I guess it's not possible., but I hope the interest and comments in the media from former French Internationals etc.. continues. Maybe it can be like the Simpsons Episode where Mr Burns replaces his entire Softball team with a whole new squad of professional ring in recruits (who ofcourse succumb to all kinds of occurances, except Homer's nemesis Strawberry ofcourse).

Barthez with his grotesquely swollen jaw...
Zidane and his run in with the law...
    We're talking Bol-ton *der-der* Desailly and Djorkaeff

I know, I know, doesn't rhyme, but the name Djorkaeff is still a nice sounding finish off I think :p BTW Add Lizarazu there somewhere too ;) :p

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sL_kFvWh68 - Simpsons Clip: "We're Talking Hoo-mer.."

BTW Apparently this match is not even completely confirmed yet/set in stone. As it's been suggested they may still not come by Australia. Though there's too many vested financial interests at stake, aka Channel Ten's contract etc... to let this go. Dangling carrots the likes of Zidane only increase the likelihood the matches will be played. Still I'm prepared to be disappointed, or maybe not so, as in, hearing an announcement the match has been called off. The approach by Zidane is only tentative at this stage anyway and can't progress till the fixture is entirely confirmed.

Even when it is, travelling show pony Beckham is no guarentee to be fit around the time of the fixture, but he'll be here fit or not (Unless he has the kind of injury which does not allow him to travel). Fit or not, I can't see him playing a full match anyway, though playing less than a half of football may cheat the fans somewhat. But some sort of injury may mean he may only be able to play for 20 mins or so. I'm not being cynical either, as to if he fakes or not, it's just rational. These guys are human as he's only just recovered from one injury and LA Galaxy is pumping all they can out of him, with these round the world trips. I expect a few slightly disappointed fans around the world, when they see he can't play much, or maybe even not at all at times.

Relax boys, everyone knows the whole thing is a circus, just come and watch an exhibition match and take it for what it is. A PR & moneymaking scheme.

New Zealand want in now!! :D

This game is not for the purists, so who cares if Zidane or Barthez play? It can only be a good thing for Sydney FC and the A-League in general.

A game against Galaxy means nothing for Sydney FC.

I reckon its a good thing. Its getting a lot of interest. It will get new and different bums on seats and hopefully they might come to Sydney FC games.

Its the only time I will get to see Zidane play. He is one of the most gifted players ever. And I want to pledge my support of the head butt. Materazzi deserved more than a head butt! Viva La France!

Yeah indeed, but still. I certainly don't mind Zidane playing, but Barthez aswell would mean someone like Bolton is almost certainly benched.

I think that would be unfair for Bolton, not to be able to participate in a match involving Beckham and Zidane infront of a huge crowd. Even though it's just a silly exhibition match, it's still a once in a life time experience for your regular A-League player.

I understand your point Glory, but I reckon these kind of matches are purely exhibition. They mean nothing. They are for the crowd not the players. I really dont think Bolton would care. He may like the chance to see if he can save a Beckham free kick, but otherwise this game is just a dollar$pinner.

Having said that, I am going to be there to watch it.

French World Cup hero Zinedine Zidane is no chance of turning out for Sydney FC in November's exhibition match against David Beckham’s LA Galaxy.

Speaking exclusively to The World Game from Valencia, Spain, Zidane’s manager Alain Migliaccio confirmed, 'there is absolutely no way he will play'.

Contrary to previous reports, Migliaccio claims no formal approach had ever been made for Zidane to make a guest appearance for the A-League club.

SBS understands tour promoters, working in conjunction with Sydney FC, are keen to secure a big-name player to complement Beckham and help raise the profile of the event.

Despite the setback, ticket sales continue to soar, exceeding 60,000 for the November 27 extravaganza at Sydney’s Telstra Stadium.

I don't know why you're Sydney FC is planning on doing this. Beckham will draw more than enough fans as it is. I don't see anyone saying "Oh ok. So both Beckham AND Zidane are playing. Now I'm watching for sure because just Beckham isn't enough". Personally I would rather watch Zidane myself but it would be a waste of money to invite both of them in the same game, not to mention the fact that it will probably make your team look more like a sideshow than an actual soccer club.

i dont care about beckhem. all i want to see is how good we will go against a team from the us. to bad sydney is not as good as they where the first 2 season. and to bad the us team in not compete against a club who are at least in the top 3 or four on the ladder. but it will be good to see how far we have come from in 3 season compared to the usa 10 season...

DAVID Beckham will be presented to the crowd when Sydney play Queensland at Sydney Football Stadium on Sunday night.

Beckham and his LA Galaxy teammates, who are scheduled to arrive on Sunday morning for their game against Sydney at Telstra Stadium on Tuesday, will appear on the field at half-time of the A-League match.

Indeed Red stripe magic that will be interesting. It's a good thing Sydney have had an upturn in fortunes recently, so we may see a good showing from both sides. Seems Sydney won't have any ring ins after all. All stunts for more publicity, I gather.

    I agree :) .

Not sure if this has been posted before, but for anyone who wants to watch the game. It will be on channel 10 on Tuesday. Starting at 7.30 with an interview with Beckham and then followed by the game.
