GOAL! Brilliant goal from Benzema in the 32nd minute...did great work to get through a couple of players, then picked up a lucky deflection and chipped it over the keeper from just inside the box!

Goal Lorient in the 67th minute. Well-deserved, since the Lyon offense has been non-existent and the goal has been under siege for the past ten minutes. 2-1.

Nice game by Vahirua. His first goal should be goal of the week
and I wouldn't be shocked if it was a candidate for goal of the season.

OL, obviously, have some serious work to do on defense.

Has OL been that gutted in the off season?
Is Ligue 1 a wide open this season?

    Full time. Lorient win 2-1.

I'm starting to get a bit concerned about the team's ability to win L1, much less compete in Europe.

It was a very poor goalkeeping by Vercoutre. We could've at least got a point out of this game.

    *sigh*..

It's all falling apart now. The end of an era is imminent.

The 4-4-2 dose not suit Lyon. They are better off with 3 center midfielders 2 wide men & a target man. There missing Coupet alot, Vercoutre looks terrible & there going to miss Cris an awful lot until he returns.

Who's gonna beat them ? Marseille, no, PSG, no, Monaco, no. The competition is still weak.

The only thing I can say for sure is that a 4-4-2 is not the right way to utilize Juninho's abilities. He doesn't seem to be enjoying as much freedom as he used to in the old formation and I think the lack of his influence on the game is what's hurting us at the moment.

So with many clubs having a shot as opposed OL winning it by Jan,
you would think that would make Ligue 1 more interesting to follow???

Juninho is in danger of losing his starting spot. Kallstrom is much better in a 4-4-2. In fact, both times Juninho played, Lyon lost.

Are you serious? Is he fading or just going thru a dry patch?
Maybe the new formation utilizing the current talent doesn't
    suit Juninho?

    Any links or highlights?

It could be both, honestly. He will be turning 33 this year, and worse, he's been in a continuous bad mood since last January. Also, the 4-4-2 is awkward for him - it's why Le Guen switched to the 4-3-3 and why Houllier kept it - so that Juni could have as much freedom as possible. But Perrin seems determined to go back to a 4-4-2, and Juninho isn't as physically strong or fast as Kallstrom to be one of two midfielders.

He might do better as a number 10 though.

Juni used to play on the right side back in the day when we were lining up in a 4-4-2, but that was a long time ago and I don't see how he'll be able to adapt there at the age of 33. If this new formation turns out to be successful in the long run and we stick by it, I guess we'll have to let go of him.

Haha, you obviously didnt see the PSG game them!

And we lost to the same team, at home, and by a bigger margin!!!

If I were a OL fan, signing Eidur Gudjohnsen and Gabriel Heinze would take all my sadness and disapoinment away.

Is this speculation or is it set to happen?
I know both players would definately be positive additions.

I had no idea Juninho was 33. He really is final stages of his career.
