We spent millions in January on our squad, and all of those players are still around. By the definition of our nickname, we still are millonarios :D

When you sell your best foward to Real Madrid I dont care who you bring to the club it wont ever be as good as it was with higuian. You guys messed up.

And I beg to differ by sheer amounts of money WE BOCA JUNIORS ARE THE TRUE MILLIONAIRES.

Sorry if this pisses people off but its true. If boca was in such a bad position as river plate I would swallow my pride and ADMIT IT.

River Plate needs to get alot of the players they have on loan with every other club. I think they have the most players out on loan compared to any other club in argentina.

I hope to god this Nico Sanchez kid from Nueva Chicago is legt, cause the Colombiano who was linked to us(Humberto Mendoza) scored a pretty sick header against Universitario of Peru in the Copa Sudamericana tonight.

Nacional wants to much money for mendoza 2.5 million which they wont get unless he goes to europe or mexico

the investors who were going to buy him and loan him to River backed down because Nacional wanted all the money right now

Mendoza is really good but he has a temper that he needs to get in check but his arerial abilty is only rivaled by Ivan Cordoba but Mendoza is like 1-2 feet taller than our former Captain

It's a shame we won't be getting him, I trust an established colombian CB than a player from Segunda, even if he has played something like 60 games for Nueva Chicago.

Anyway, Vega is now also a River player, following Archubi, Peralta and Zarate as a loan signing with an option to buy. The negotiations for Alexis Sanchez are moving forward, but the stumbling block is the fact that River wants a buy out clause for the loan contract, which I'm sure Udinese doesn't want to agree to considering they've only just bought him, and he hasn't had a chance to play for them yet. Still, I'd rather he come with no clause than he didn't come at all.

sure Nacional would give u Mendoza for Falcao :) haha that kid is never going to play and is always injured but think he is a better option than old ass Galvan Rey and Aristi and Nacional has good benched defenders... its really makes me mad Hurtado starts... the former ecuadorian captain is awful :(

What a horrific day in the transfer front. It appears Aguiliar and his band of merry thieves are at it again. Christ almighty, what should've ended up a pretty good day with the signings of Archubi and Sanchez, turns out to be the complete opposite. It looks as if we've lost the transfer of Archubi to Olympiakos of Greece, then it turns out Nasuti we'll probably be joining him, and finally looks as if Federico Higuain was sold to Beskitas of Turkey:eek:

The only positive out of all of this, is it looks like we brought in a really talented Shileno in Alexis Sanchez, but he's not going to be here for long.

And he won't score many goals, because he is more of a passer than a goalscorer. He is not an area hawk like Salas...

Even if the kid is the reincarnation of Salas, he'll be here for only a year. Having to adapt to a new team and league won't be too easy either so I am keeping my expectations low on purpose. All and all, not a great move by River.

Re: River Plate -Mercado de Pases 2006/07

Here's what I wrote in my blog:

I must be a big fool to have fallen in Aguilar's trap. Just two days ago, I was celebrating the arrivals of Alexis Sanchez and Rodrigo Archubi, but I really shouldn't have expected things to last that long. Already three weeks into the Argentine Apertura, we are on the merge of losing three players: one defender, one midfielder, and one foward.

The truth is, we already lost two of them. The midfielder was Rodrigo Archubi. Although we did not sell him, it ends up that he actually had never signed a contract with River, despite basically being our player, and received a better offer from Olympiakos. It isn't a surprise that he decided to opt for the Greek team. The foward, meanwhile, is Federico Higuain, Gonzalo's older brother. He was sold to Besiktas of Turkey for $1,650,000 dollars. Higuain, who had arrived at 10 years of age at the club, was behind all the other fowards on River's list, so he chose to move to Europe.

The other player we may lose is Cristian Nasuti. Yes, when the club's dirigentes and coaching staff protest about the lack of central midfielders, they let their greed for money take over the team's ambitions of actually competing to win a title. Upon hearing of Olympiakos interest in "el Colorado", Aguilar instantly put on his guilty smile and decided to negociate with the Greeks. Archubi's new team is willing to offer 1.5 million euros for Nasuti, which, truth be told, isn't much.. especially considering that we only own 50% of his transfer.

At River there is no such thing as tranquility now-a-days. If it's not the internal barra-brava problems, it's Aguilar selling our players and hopes of winning something. If it's neither of those two things, it's our matches being suspended. The list can go on with infinite reasons of why our "fantastic institution", as Aguilar calls it, is being torn down in flames. The only cure will be to win a tournament this time around, but will it ever be possible with this President?

The only thing that's on Aguiliar's mind is $$$$$$$$$$$. The sales of Higuain and Nasuti are what's probably paying for is recent trip to Europe.

It sucks most club presidents just think about money most of the time, in fact the AFA thinks the same exact way. They should worry about money but at the same time make sure the club has the best players it can get. Alot of players get sold abroad when they are way too young and could still learn alot more about soccer if they stayed in argentina but its all about $$$ :(

From what I know he likes to play as a SS just in front of the midfielders, he's also quick, with good technique and uses the wings pretty well. I wish I could tell you more but I actually havent' seen him play that much since he never played much for River but for Chicago (a small team that doesn't get the coverage of a big team in Argentina) I can tell you that he did really great for them and scored more goals than any of River's players in the local league.

    hi guys

i am a besiktas fan . after matias degado who started his career in River Plate , we transfered our second River Plate based player Federico Higuian . According to my searchs about him , he is very talented player with good future potential . This season if Besiktas can eliminate FC Zurih ( which we had a 1-1 draw in Zurih ) you will be able to watch Higuian of Besiktas in Champions League. I believe if everything goes fine , all europe will know him after his brother .

    regards

Only time will tell besiktasfan. With another Argentine in Matias Delgado and Chilean in Rodrigo Tello already on your club, the adjustment for him should be much easier. But the main question will be, is can you duplicate what he did for Nueva Chicago, for Besiktas.

:D Plus, if his situation isn't fixed by January, his loan to River will be extended till June! :)

Side note: let's see if you ever get on MSN Messenger again. It's been, what, like 2 decades since we've spoken?
