oh man with blanco feeding balls to wanchope, this is going to be one entertaining ass team. can't wait to catch some games.
No kidding. I'm hoping to score some tickets for next Saturday! Talk about a 180 degree turnaround, AEG sells, Sarachan axed, Blanco looks as good as advertised , name coach Osario hired, and now 'Chope signed. Guess the front office was listening after all.
you guys got a quality striker in chope. my feeling is he'll have a very similar impact to start as angel did in his first few games with the red bulls. hopefully chope will continue to do well with improved service (something the red bulls have lacked all season). i can't wait for the next chicago- NY game.. should be a good one
Maybe it is ANOTHER coincidence, but ever since guppy took control, deals of any kind just seem to drag forever. Just schedule a meeting with his agent and say, "have your client here as we are going to put pen to paper before we leave the room." On second thought, perhaps it is delayed because guppy hasn't contacted me yet regarding the rights to "Blanchopolfe." You can pm me John and I will discuss my availability for the press conference.
So, with the press conference on Monday, does that mean that there is no chance of seeing Wanchope on Sunday?
FC Tokyo had a young Brazilian named Rychely who beat him out for the second striker position......Wanchope struggled to crack the starting lineup in his time at FCT and never really looked comfortable in Hara's always evolving system (erratic more than evolving). The most successful time for Wanchope was a 3 forward system, unfortunately, a frail FCT system would leak goals. I know Wanchope had slight dings and struggled with fitness.....I also think he was frustrated with not getting calls he normally would in England. I think it was a case of FCT needing more reinforcement in the back and having a surplus of strikers up top.
This should be great for the Fire. With Blanco and now Wanchope, the Fire should start turning things around withen the next few years. One thing that I don't get about some of the other threads: people have kinda forgotten about Armas. He is the leader of this team and is seems like nobody really cares. He's retireing at the end of the season, we sould notice him for what he has done for this team.
Somebody please post something when the Wanchope jersey's show up for sale. I will probably be the only guy in my neck of the woods wearing one. But Wanchope is a personal hero. I'm quickly becoming a Fire fan.
Thank Osorio if Chope pans out. http://web.mlsnet.com/news/team_new...ent_id=108332&vkey=pr_chf&fext=.jsp&team=t100
I want to say it was about 400,000 US but I'm not sure I just remember it being lower than i thought it would be......I think Ives had the number on his site.
WHY!, he's signed as of Friday I assume he's healthy and fit why in hell would he not be in Toronto to aleast come in as a sub (If were losing or the game is tied put him in the game at the 65th or 70th minute to see what he could do).
You've got a really entertaining player there if his mind is right. He's still a cult hero to us in Derby. His first game for us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZDnX1sC6l0 Watch that second goal and hope he can still do it.
*Congratulations Fire Fans, Wanchope is a boss. Fox Sports article on signing. *We had Wanchope for a season at Rosario Central of Argentina. The club was in an economic crisis so to speak, and he only stayed the one year. He was a fan favorite, and a constant threat in the attacking third. Three years ago I thought, if Wanchope entertains offers from Australia and Japan, what keeps an MLS club from persuing him. There was a slight rumor from RSL, but that would be a smart move, and we all know RSL only has 3 smart moves per decade. Congratulations Chicago, you just seriously bad-assed your roster. *I'll never forget this game in 2006. It's a long clip, but worth it to see Wanchope score his first two goals in the Argentine league. *Here's another one in the derby of Rosario between Central and Newell's Old Boys. Wanchope was brilliant that day, you can see why the fans loved him.
