i am not sure if this thread should be in here or world rivalries. im also not sure if this has been discussed before.

i cant really decide, but i think its a toss-up between argentina and brazil.

I'd agree with that, but I'd also throw Italy in there. They're a pretty deep team.

I can see the reality show:

FIFA 2006 WC. All the rosters are in. FIFA then anounces :

"ALL THE PLAYERS LISTED for WC 2006 CAN NOT PLAY!!!!" YOu must now select 23 other players that WILL play in WC 2006 (Hence the B team)...good luck"

    Brazil would win.

    USA
    spain???

this is an easy question. No teams have more quality players abroad than argentina and brazil. Both could make 2 great teams of only euro based players plus a home based team.

the usa played that home based team or argentina and made us look bad.

Easily Brazil. Talk about Italy and the others when their A teams do something. :)

that's not really a proper point though - 24 through 46 i'd bet on italy, but let's explore this a little more - off the top of my head, examples of players involved for a few countries

brazil - marcelinho, luciano, diego, robinho, jardel, serginho, sylvinho, belletti, luis fabiano, cesar

italy - miccoli, cuducini, pirlo, ambrosini, di michelle, hubner, legrottaglie, oddo, doni, corradi, maccarone, zola (?!)

germany - kuranyi, heinrich, butt, borowski, steinschweiger, zickler, bohme

spain - torres, christiansen, juanfran, contreras, capdevilla, jose mari, capi, exteberria, urzaiz, javi moreno, vicente

england - terry, wright, ehiogu, smith, carrick, lampard, woodgate, bowyer, jenas, thompson, joe cole, phillips

argentina - cavallero, cavenaghi, romeo, klimowicz, castroman, chamot, milito & milito, luis gonzalez

france - govou, kapo, rothen, martin, anelka, coupet, boumsong, giuly, dabo

US (gulp) - hahnemann, walker, kirovski, razov, barrett, buddle, casey, gibbs, agoos, ralston, adu (hehe)

it would still be a damn good tourney IMO

    Brazil.

But it seems like Italy have very little diff. in quality between A and B. B is probably just as good.

    Ummmm...

Isn't this question why we play the Confederations Cup? Or is it to see if some countries "C" teams are better than other countries "B" teams?

Don't Brasil go through WC qualifications with only their B team, as European clubs won't release their A players?

    Brasil
    Argentina
    Italia
    France
    Oranje.

    Hello,
    nobody said france?
But a lot of great french players are in great italian or english teams...
brasil and argentina don't have enouth players in europe, and in these countries the teams are not enouth good for allow players to be as good as there would be in europe...
    a french C or D team(young team):
    frey(parme)-candela(as roma)-mexes(auxerre)-boumsong(auxerre)-silvestre(manchester united)-luccin(celta vigo)-dacourt(as roma)-cariere(lyon)-pedretti(sochaux)-micoud(breme)-cisse(auxerre)

PS: excuse my english and my frenchy arrogance;)

Brazil has access to its "A" players for qualifiers. It is my understanding that clubs (European or otherwise), while they are certainly free to voice objections, cannot keep players from joining the national team on dates that FIFA sets aside for qualifiers (or friendlies).

Rivaldo played in the last qualification round. Ronaldo missed most, if not all, of the qualifiers through injury (sprained vagina from what I understand).

yes, that Brasil B team looked like world beaters yesterday didn't it.

Both Brasil and Argentina have dozens of talented players but very few that can play together as a team. Especailly defensive players. Face it, they're all glory boys. Put them up against a pacy, hard working Dutch B team and they'd fall to pieces.

Not quite. They just said they were crap in qualifying, which they were. On the bigger stage the experienced players like Rivaldo and Ronaldo lifted their game considerably.

The Dutch??? The same Dutch whose A team couldn't manage to even qualify for '02? Yeah, that's a stellar example of talent translating to success on the pitch. Pass your conclusions on to the KNVB. Once they realize their legacy of failure stems from not playing their B team, they'll change their lineup immediately.

Cameroon (and Turkey) are fine teams- no shame in losing to them.

To his defense, Oranje are the only country in the world who goes out and attacks Brasil, and actually scores goals on them during the run of play, and they never bunker down, every meeting between the 2 produces some the finest games and either team could of won, you know Oranje and PKs.

I think if Brasils B team got a month or so together, a preseason , i think they could be top 3-4 in the world, and I don't think any other country could say the same.
