agree. Rock and ROll: hurts to say it but UK: zeppelin, beatles, stones, the who, pink floyd, police, u2( I know, ireland, but close enough)
But, all said bands were heavily influenced by American bluesmen. Don't be saying that in the Ireland forum
yes it probably is the 4384th time this thread has come up, as floyd once sung,:'everythings done under the sun'. i've seen your post in so many forums about 5000 times myself. some folk seem to forget that newbies do not know every thread and post that have already been brought up. that means that these thread are new to some others on the forum. alas, there are always smart arses who just love to point every little thing out, no matter how tedious and boring.
That's what the "search" function is for. I'm really not a disagreeable person, but if you hang around this forum a while, you'll see just how often this particular question is brought up.
i do understand where you are coming from, believe me. like i said, i see things repeated on other forums i go to as well, however i can see its usually from a newbie so i just accept it. plus with people joining all the time, i honestly feel that there would be quite a few people who hadn't seen it the 1st or 100th time around. anyway, the british have always had the best bands by a long way!!!!!!!!
Absolutely. Blues and Jazz as well. Rock? The UK, hands down. Beatles/Floyd/Zeppelin/Yes/early Genesis/Police/U2/Bowie. Maybe even the Stones. Aside from Hendrix, the US hasn't produced much of anything that even sniffs at these bands.
Influences do not a genre make. Rock & Roll? USA again, with Chuck Berry and Little Richard leading the pack by a mile. But that's not rock.
As for song writing the U.S. crushes all. The U.K. gets the nod in rock for the 60s/70s. Since then the U.S. crushes them. RnB no contest to the US, Hip-Hop no contest to the US. Jazz, Blues, Soul, Funk, etc. = US.
