    Finnan pens three-year Reds extension
“Steve Finnan has been rewarded for his consistent performances for Liverpool with a new three-year contract. The Republic of Ireland full-back has agreed the terms of the deal and is expected to sign when the Reds squad return from their pre-season tour of Asia.”

I am so relieved. He definitely deserves it!

He definetley deserves it and I'm glad its finally done with. Finnan to me is right up there with Carra and Gerrard in importance for the club.

    What are you talking about?

Finnan is right up there with Carra and Stevie in quality and has been one of the most consistent RBs in Europe in the last 3 years.

I said he was a good squad player, what more do you want?

Gerrard and Carra are local boys so even if one of them can't get in the England team, at least they give it everything. I don't care who they supported as a kid, they're professionals.

I don't know what you're on about. So you're not diminishing Finnan at all. According to you, he's one of the best RB's in the world and has been for the last three years. Sorry for misunderstanding and thanks for clarifying. I'm glad we're not the only ones who appreciate him so much.

One only has to look at the amount of minutes Finnan played last season to understand his importance to the team. He might not be as famous as Carra or Stevie G but he gets the job done every match, no question.

Where would LFC be without him in the side the last few seasons?

Finnan is the true unsung heroe of Liverpool FC. No Hype, just consistancy, week in, week out. Glad he's sticking around for a few more.

are you suggesting liverpool would have got relegated? liverpool might have challenged a bit more in the league, that's the most you can say.

Huh? Where on earth did he say we'd be relegated without him? Does one have to be a superstar in order to be talked about?

Dude, really...go away. It's clear you don't know what you're talking about. He's been one of our most consistent players the last few years. He's been under the radar, so you don't know much about him, but that's your issue.

He must be playing stupid. No way could he come to these boards if he were that ignorant.

what are you talking about relegation for? liverpool have spent far too much money to be relegated, it's not even an option. as for finnan being consistent, who said any different? consistent can mean anything. watford were consistent last season. consistently bad. are you saying finnan is bad? is that your point? if it is, you're wrong, simple as that. he's a good squad player like i said. you want a squad filled with superstars that's your look-out but it's a recipe for disaster. gerrard is paid £120k a week. torres cost £27m. mascherano and babel and kuyt and alonso and all the rest didn't come cheap. what do you want, blood? rafa's already under enough pressure to deliver, imagine if he spends any more money, he'll have to win the quadruple to keep his job. finnan may not be the most high-profile player but every squad needs their foot soldiers. personally, i think the club could have offered him more than three years, as a sign of their commitment. i'm not sure they're convinced about him and i think he knows that.

I know how you feel. How thick can a poster be? I think its kinda of humorous, but then again it is sad because I don't think Sunny Boy aims to be the court fool.
