Ferguson has stated that he does not want anyone to leave, although some might because they of their need for first team football. Whether Rossi is one of these players I don't know. I think it depends more on what happens with Tevez and Smith. By all accounts Fiorentina are the latest club to make a move on Rossi, so if he leaves then he will at least have his pick of clubs and we would get a decent return. While I doubt he would pick them it would be interesting to see him and Lupoli together again. Although I would still not be happy to lose him.

I don't want to see him at milan, inter or utd, there is no room there for a striker and a young one at that. I want him at a club with more room to grow, man utd are animals now they want tevez like nani and anderson aren't enough along with smith, saha and rooney. If i were rossi i'd make my way back to italy soon.

The quote from Zamagna, Parma's DS, was mostly in reference to the rumors that we wanted to sign Simone Inzaghi from Lazio, possibly in exchange for one of our U-21 midfielders Dessena and-or Cigarini. No way on that.

It could've also been a veiled reference to ManUtd, considering they rejected our offer of 10 million Euros for Rossi last month. Like, "Get in touch if you want to sell, but we aren't going to grovel just because you're Manchester United."

The latter is not correct at all. Man Utd had offers accepted for Smith last month but he stalled on making a decision. So clearly we were prepared to let him leave, as we wanted to keep Rossi. Nothing will be decided until the Tevez move is sorted and Smith decides what he wants to do. It would be stupid of us to ship anyone out and leave us short at the start of the season. If things are not sorted soon then I would expect things to remain as they are until the next transfer window.

The quotes in this article put it a little different, though they are Italian translations which I'm translating back into English.

Ferguson: "We've had some offers for Rossi, which put us in a certain situation... (talks about Smith)... I've got to look at Manchester United and how we can improve. And when somebody like Tevez comes along, it gets difficult for guys like Alan and Giuseppe. The important thing is that they are our players and we can make decisions about them when we decide."

Sounds like Rossi is out at Manchester United, if Tevez comes. But in any case, knowing the situation, what interest would Rossi have in staying? OK, Ferguson 'is making the decisions' but clearly they don't see Rossi as a part of their future.

No, he said that once Tevez comes in then Smith and Rossi might want to move on for first team football. This summer we have accepted bids for Smith but not Rossi, so what does that say? One will move at some stage but it all depends on Tevez and the level of interest in both players. Or more importantly, whether Smith moves on or not.

How is this different from saying Rossi is out if Tevez comes in?

It could quite easily be Smith out, considering we have already accepted bids for him and not Rossi. Basically no-one knows what will happen and you are simply jumping to conclusion based on what you want to happen, as opposed to anything that has been said from the club.

I would love for Rossi to come back to Parma. Wow, you figured me out. Pure genius. People must commend you on your values of perception. Meanwhile, I'm doing my best internet voodoo to get this transfer to happen.

    Give me a break.

My point (clear to everyone but you, who knows why  ) is that Rossi must realize that his club values another player (that's TEVEZ, in case you haven't figured it out from Ferguson's quotes, see above...) who is of the same age and relative talent, over him. I could honestly give a crap about Alan Smith. Rossi is out at Manchester. Yeah, I hope he comes to Parma... (You caught me, man!!) And in case you missed it, Parma is a possible destination for Rossi if he leaves Manchester. Get this, he played here last year and spent part of his adolescence in our youth squad.

In any case I'll be happy to see the kid get playing time with any team that believes in his talent. I've seen what Rossi can do, and he definitely doesn't deserve to sit on the bench and get only the token run-out in meaningless third rate League cup games.

Nice attitude, particularly considering you have still failed to grasp my point. Besides, Tevez is three years older, far more experienced and more talented at this stage. Tevez is not a Rossi replacement (even if the latter leaves).

Here's a declaration from Federico Pastorello, Rossi's agent:
"After the eloquent statements by Ferguson, Rossi will leave Manchester and there are a lot of clubs, English and Italian, interested in getting him."
Napoli is mentioned. Pastorello says they haven't made an offer, but the player would be interested in playing in Naples.

Another rumor has Lazio looking to buy Rossi if they get through the Champions prelims.

Good Marketing ploy to increase G.Rossi's fees and when Tevez deals go through, Fergie will loan G.Rossi again.
