With a population nearing 200 million, and a football culture filled with history, the future should be bright.

This is the main problem, the talent is there but our coaching horizons don't look very bright. Just looking at Dunga and Nelson Rodrigues is enough to depress any fan.

You are right, the problem is the cartolas, but all they got to do is get better coaching and we'll take the u-20 anytime. In 2003 we took the WC with Nilmar and Daniel Carvalo was the attack and today they are nowhere near the selecao, the time does change a lot for the real deal and I think that despite the fact we do win a lot on the u17 and u20 that is never basis for what is to come. It's Brasil, there's always firepower here and there.

Yeah, the Brazilians could learn from the Dutch and develop youth coaches like they develop youth players.

Also, the attitudes seemed to be at fault. Watching all of Brazil's games, I was reminded of the US in International Basketball competitions, with the attitude of "we're the best, most talented...we'll win if we try." I love Marcelo, and want to see him in the full team, but he really does seem like he's auditioning for Roberto Carlos' spot, attitude included; the whole tournament seemed beneath him.
