Parma looks at Janczyk and negotiates for Adu

Two Americans and a Pole. Parman is eyeing Dawid Janczyk the 19-year-old forward of Legia Warsaw and the Polish national team. CSKA Moscow has offered €4.2 million, but the player wants to play in Italy. Meanwhile Parma has completed the purchase of midfielder Morrone from Livorno with a 4-year contract. Livorno gets €2 million in return, along with goalkeeper De Lucia.

But it’s still not finished. Now they have Caserta, a midfielder with Catania, in their sights and they are still not giving up on the idea of buying back “the little American” Giuseppe Rossi from Manchester United. Meanwhile the process has gotten underway for the acquisition of Freddy Adu, the forward with Real Salt Lake who has just racked up a victory over Uruguay in the U-20 World Cup. And negotiations for Amoruso are still alive, who is prefered to Pellissier.

    Adu to Parma?!

Reports from gazzetta and teleducato is mentioning Adu as Parmas new target. parma is on the rise and with our new owner we have already strengthen the team from last season. Ghirardi (the owner) is keen on signing Rossi on a permanent deal but Man utd isn't so eager to let him go so it is reported that Adu might be the next target.

    The price? 10m$.

Will let you know more about this ;).

Parma would be the best place toi grow for a player like Adu.

Parma: Adu is the alternative to Rossi

Parma is still searching for a second forward to line up next to Igor Budan and, carefully following the developments of the Giuseppe Rossi story, is also considering other possibilities.

The most fascinating one is that which brings Freddy Adu, the young American promise who is currently playing so well in the U-20 World Cup in Canada (and thanks to his goals the USA is in the quarterfinals).

In the case that Parma does not manage to land Rossi from Manchester United, which remains their primary objective, they could end up going after the 18 year old of Ghanaian origin who currently plys his trade with Real Salt Lake in Major League Soccer.

They can't get enough of their dual-nationality American prodigies.

As I said in the earlier thread, Parma is the ideal place for a player like Adu, who is hungry to reach the highest hights of football. Not to mention, Parma is actually building a team for competition. Our new owner has shown his ambitions and unlike any other serie a team we will spend 25m€ this summer alone on the mercato. We've done some nice purchases during this summer and more will come according to our boss!

Well perhaps. To many Americans, he'll need significant coaching and tutelage to perform at the Serie A level.

He's performed well for the U-20s, but has generally either underperformed in MLS (with Salt Lake) or been played out of position (with DC).

Funny about Parma though. There was a thread not long ago about an acquaintance of Rossi's in New Jersey who claimed Rossi's family said "why do they care about Adu, Giuseppe is much better." If Adu went to Parma, we'd have a chance to see how they stack up in a similar situation.

Well it's normal for a kid at his age to be inconsistent and it always depends on the team and the atmosphere surrounding the team. parma is known for nurturing younglings and the best thing about Parma is that players work in a practically stressfree enviorement. It's a very calm city with calm people, except for when we clash against Juve :D.

Plus parma know how to deal with talents and how to bring them to the next level. It'd be great to see him and Paponi make apperances. Paponi is also an exceptional talent. What's important, for Adu and Paponi, is that they have patient!

Well I wouldn't say No to Adu so here's hoping that Parma get something out of this. Parma has also been linked with Chevanton and Bojinov as Rossis "replacement". These guys are better than Adu currently but Adu has the potential.

    "The Ghanian born"

I get so sick of seeing this. Does it not matter that he developed into a soccer player in AMERICA and could barely wipe his own butt while he was living in Ghana, assuming they even have toilet paper there.

No surprise that I totally agree with Minotti.

Parma would be ideal for Adu, because it is and always has been (since the early '90s) a haven for young international-caliber talent. From Crespo to Cannavaro, Thuram, and Buffon. Later Adriano, Mutu, and Gilardino. And last year G. Rossi. And plenty more in between. These are all players who came to Parma young and not-quite polished, and left as fixtures for their national teams (we'll have to wait and see with Rossi, but he did 'break out' here last season.)

In Parma there's just the right mix of high expectations and laid-back attitude that seems to trigger the talent of serious young professionals without suffocating them.

And as Minotti also mentioned, we're finally out of the woods with the Parmalat debacle and have a new owner who looks hungry to win.

This is just your basic European prejudice. An American "obviously" couldn't be a top prospect, particularly as an attacking player. So the fact that he was born in Ghana "explains" how he can be good. When the Altidore to Europe rumors start to come up, expect to hear a lot about how he is the son of "Haitian parents". And if Feilhaber becomes a top player, every article will have to include an obligatory reference to his Brazilian parent. :)

As much as i would like this to be true, somehow i have the feeling that Parma is trying to put pressure on Man U to let go of Rossi by bringing up other names as alternatives.

I wish that i am wrong though.

Perhaps but I doubt that since Ghirardi (our owner) has explicitly said that he is going to chat with Man utd about Rossi. Ghirardi, so far, has been very reliable in everything he has said. He doesn't seem to be the guy to play tricks.

But my guess is that this is more speculation from medias side. They know that parma wants a replacement for Rossi, who seem to be impossible to get, thus Adu is just their creation. As I said earlier, they've also linked us with Bojinov and Chevanton. parma hasn't said anything about them two so I guess it was all medias work.

One thing is for sure though; Parma will buy a replacement for rossi if we don't get him. Adu/bojinov/chevanton/pellissier has been linked with Parma, so we'll just have to wait and see. I'm hoping for Rossi or Adu ;)

    Hmmm...Parma isn't a Nike club, I believe.

Don't be so touchy. It's straightforward journalism. Part of Adu's 'story' is that he was born in Ghana. Nothing more to it than that.

Germany's Kevin-Prince Boateng who was born in Berlin is always referred to as "the 20-year old of Ghanaian heritage".
I'm sure if he was born in Ghana they'd also say the "Ghanaian born".

Imo it has nothing to do with European prejudice.

Rossi is also often referred to as "the american-born".

Janczyk has definitely signed for CSKA, so Adu's chances to transfer to Parma could be improving. I would love to see him there.

I keep hearing this everytime a non-Nike team is mentioned as interested in Adu, but seriously, why? Do any of us know the stipulations of Adu's contract with Nike? Is there really a precedent in world football for this? Can we drop this tired refrain already?

And it's not as though the USMNT is not a Nike brand.

Totally agree. Look at the track record at Parma: Crespo, Buffon, Thuram, Gilardino, Cannavaro, Adriano, Asprilla.

Allycks and Minotti, where do you live in Parma? I studied there for a semester and loved the town (I lived right on Via Farnese, right by the park.)

I think it's a reasonable and viable part of where he will play. I may be proven wrong, but I think it's reasonable that Nike would want him in a uniform that it sponsors/sells.

Lord, this would be a dream move -- both for Adu and ...me!

But seriously, Adu could thrive in that environment. Few are better for nurturing young talent in Italy with immediate playing time. Parma have long played with a smallish creative withdrawn forward, whether Zola, Chiesa, Morfeo or Rossi.

    Please make this happen!

p.s. Hey, Minotti, are you the real Lorenzo? ;)
