I did not know we needed to give personal information in order to post...

Been Galaxy supporter since beginning...grew up in Manhattan Beach...favorite color is blue...oh, and I am a taurus and like to go for long walks on the beach.

Read posts all the time...posted this time because I for once had first hand information. Sorry, did not realize I was doing something wrong.https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif

I saw Landon Donovan in a Manhattan Beach restaurant last year.

He was eating italian food with a girl who had a trendy but ugly hat and a fairly large sized caboose. Not my type. He & I made eye contact mid way through ordering. I gave him a "don't look at me little man" look because he had just played a ************ game for us, but I'm pretty sure he didn't think I knew who he was.

I believe he was drinking a Peroni. So un-American.

Re: Lalas VS Yallop Trouble- PUN ALERT WARNING

(This is so bad, I almost hate to do it.)

I was at the reserve game on Sunday. After the game, I actually saw Frank and Lexi talking, briefly. I heard Lexi asking Frank to call him after the team landed in Richmond. It didn't look like there was anything in the way of tension.

So then this East Coast blogger posts his "inside" scoop that Frank and Lexi are not even speaking to each other. Which raises this question:

Who are you going to believe - me or your own Ives?

    (apologies to Groucho Marx).

Cadaver.... I believe you over my own Ives.

But if the team is this bad with Lalas & Yallop speaking to each other, maybe they should just stop talking to one another... just to see if the results on the field change.

At best the two are talking, I can suspect that AEG will seperate itself from Galaxy FO/Team if the results don't pick up. They will have secret meetings with becks, and assistant GM Martin and heads will presumably roll.

Lalas is cute, now as a figure head he gets headlines in the media for saying outrageously stupid things that regular sports media eats up without criticizing because no one in this country knows the first thing about soccer.

Ask Fred Roggin if he can name (2) players on Chelsea. or where fenerbache is from? or the difference between an indirect and direct free kick.

He would sneeze and sputter the remnants of his cocaine party in confusion over those questions. our local media, and national media are morons, So even the fact that Lalas says these things barely get a mention here because they don't know what the hell he is talking about.

Their destinies seem to be linked. The ginger wonder couldn't possibly survive without Yallop, so it seems. I think if there's a problem a quick fight in the car park should sort it. "TAXI FOR FRANK!!"

Since Frank was Lexi's choice, their fates are linked. If Frank can't do the job (and I think he can, BTW) then that's Lexi's responsibility too.

    What gives you that idea.

we have sent packing a coach in the great satan who had a better record and an MLS & US Open cup trophy for us.

to hold onto a guy whose only stake to this job is that he was good 5 years ago in another city.

Some people are just not good fits here, you can't be successful in every place you go, maybe for Frank Yallop this just isn't his time or place.

I think no one is hoping more to do a complete 180 when becks gets here than Frank Yallop, It seems his whole success or failure as coach rides on this guy.

Frank seems to have trouble winning with what would be considered on paper the best team in MLS without becks. and now that we are in the dumps and he needs him this badly should tell everyone what kind of coach Yallop is.

Did any of you see this article? Very interesting, to say the least.

    Some interesting statements/quotes:

Sounds to me like Lalas and Yallop are in this together.

Interesting idea... LD would be a hard sell in San Jose but beggars can't be choosers. At this point it woundn't surprise me to see Yallop as our coach.

    Re: All trub

In the interest of accuracy let's compare the records.

    Sampson:
    17-24-10 in MLS
    4-2-1 in the playoffs
    4-0-0 in the USOC
25-26-11 overall (I have excluded the 2-0 loss to Real Madrid)

    Yallop:
    11-13-9 in MLS
    5-2 in the USOC
    16-15-9 overall

Without Sampson's MLS Cup playoff run in 2005 and the Open Cup triumph you wouldn't even have this conversation. Even with those triumphs his overall record doesn't stack up. And Sigi left Sampson a much better team than the one SS2 left for Frank. I'm willing to give Frank another twenty games to prove to me he's the right guy. After that all bets are off!

yeah he deserves a full season in charge. in fact i wish aeg would guarantee yallop and alexi's job for this season and next. i want a coach who's making decisions for the long term good of this team, not the immediate financial needs of aeg/mls and the instant gratification nature of sports fans.

i'm sure given their druthers aeg would love to buy a championship like chelsea, but we'll have to build our team like fergie did at man united - recall he went his first five years without a single trophy.

And the little known story is that a striker who recently ended his playing career at and is now manager of Rotherham United, Mark Robins, saved Fergies job during that time by scoring a goal in the FA Cup against Nottingham Forest, to win the game (1990) when Fergie had been told win or be sacked. Just goes to show a little faith gets rewards, especially combined with luck.

again i have to call bullshit. allow me to translate:

"i have no sources for my story and am making shit up. when nothing happens it's because alexi and frank are professionals not because it was a slow news day"

it's the journalistic equivalent of standing on the corner, waving your arms and claiming to be warding off elephants.

    What are you smoking?

Are you saying LA has more talent on paper than Houston (with Ching, Clark and Davis on the US team; and DeRasario and Onstad on the Canada team)? Kansas City (with Eddie Johnson and Jimmy Conrad)? Or how about New York (Juan Pablo Angel, Jozy Altidore, Claudia Reyna)? New England? DC? I mean, even Columbus has more talent on paper than LA.

What does LA have, aside from Donovan and the now-injured Allbright (who was only added to the World Cup roster after Frankie Hedjuk was injured)? Perhaps an indicator of the current talent level in LA is that they really didn't lose many players during the recent national team tournments (Gold Cup, U-20 World Cup and Copa America).

All you need about Alexi Lalas is this:

In 2005, Lalas served as President/GM for two teams: the San Jose Earthquakes and the Metrostars.

By 2006, both teams were gone from MLS.

Donovan, Jazic and Harmse all played in the Gold Cup. Sturgis was traded just before the u-20 cup. Pavon, now with us, played in the Gold Cup and Albright more than likely would have made the weak Copa America team. I would also argue that Xavier and Klein are not exactly weak players. With the addition of Becks this is one of the best teams on paper, which means I hate Yallop if we dont start winning.
