yes/no....i never mentioned the USA being a racist country...so don't try to change my post, the original post was about outsourcing talents from other countries, not about race.i kinda went on a little rant on racism in soccer in countries like spain, germany, and italy do you think USA is a racist country?
On 3 other boards that I use, hitting the quick reply automatically activates the 'quote post' checkbox. Here it does not, so it causes me a fair amount of grief.
It could be regional ... I've live my entire life in the Northeast, and I think things like Social security, political corruption, and trying to relegate gays to second class citizens are all way head of racial issues right now in 'what is hurting US culture'. Racism still happens, but it's pretty much unacceptable. Look what happened to Imus. You still have racists, but they are underground, and they can't turn those racist beliefs into real power anymore.
I'm not going to go there. I didn't vote for them, and consider them poor executives at best, but I don't think the other side is really all that much different.
I'm not debating that the things you've mentioned aren't huge issues, but racism in itself definitely is as well....even in 2007. I've lived in the southeast (Auburn, AL; college town) and have spent alot of time in Milwaukee, and I've seen blatant racism in both places. Sure, racism is largely unacceptable to alot of people, but regardless it's still there.
Milwaukee is terrible....most segregated city in America... as for the prez and his boy toy....its hard to suggest the other side isnt different, when any of them would be an upgrade...but how much of an upgrade, probably not enough to cure our ill's just make us deal with our real issues instead of dealing with how much we hate the president.
Me neither. My list: Forwards who can finish Attacking movement off the ball Ability to beat defenders off the dribble Poor coaching Lack of professional development for youth players Incompetence at the federation level Complacency about our progress Syndicate Ownership in MLS Frankie Hejduk Lack of an electric razor that shaves as easily or as well as a blade
This post should probably have ended this thread. Politics discussions aren't the intention of this forum - please take it elsewhere.
I was with you all the way till you started raggin' on Hejduk. If anything, the US' problem is that it needs MORE Hejduk, not less. Yeah, he has his limitations but you can't question his heart, energy, work rate and leadership. The guy is just infectious and the US is better when he's on the roster than when he's not.
that's your list......as african/native american man race would be enough of the politics..........back to soccer
That's a fantastic point. What that means is that the traditional negative image of the Ugly American around the world -- surely encapsulated by the Bush Era -- doesn't really match with this new, upcoming generation of America. 'Ethnic' Americans are the antithesis of the Ugly American: bit more worldly, bit more multidimensional, a bit more interesting. The USMNT U-20 squad is just a sampling of this new generation now coming up. Now if we can only have Capitol Hill, Madison Ave, Wall Street, Hollywood etc. begin to reflect our multicultural reality in America we'd be set. The one bizarre downside to this U-20 side is the distinct lack of Latinos and 'Urban' folks on the team. Whatever happened to all the inner-city initiatives the USSF promised? The lack of Latinos involved on any level with the USNT (players, coaches, staff) is a big reason for the lack of support in the stands and in those unique moments when push comes to shove regarding 'allegience'.
i think racism towards arabs/muslims is a very big problem. i think it's basically accepted to be racist towards muslims or arabs. look at the popularity of larry the cable guty humor compared to the reaction to michael richards.
