Ottawa is going to have some excellent games. You get all the Argentina games including Argentina/Czech Republic, Brazil/United States, Spain or Uruguay vs. Nigeria or Scotland and potentially Argentina/United States maybe even Brazil vs. Mexico. Many of the games are reportedly near sellouts already, and even if they weren't the quality of the soccer at that venue should keep you plenty entertained. Even North Korea/Panama should be entertaining as both of those teams play a wide open attacking game.
I was at the stadium last November and it was still there since the University of Ottawa Gee Gees play their home games there. I'm sure they would remove it for the WC though.
Only Ottawa uses it? Does Carleton not use it too? Although I can't recall ever seeing a Carleton football team mentioned.
Anyone know what colors CANADA is wearing for the U-20? Red shirt and shorts? Red shirt white shorts? White shirt and shorts? Thank you in advance.
Im more exceited over the U20 than Copa America, specially because Kaka and Ronaldinho, the two idiots, said they didnt want to play Copa America because they were tired. ******** THEM. Alexandre Pato soon will be MUCH BETTER than Ronaldinho Gaucho ever was. He has potential to be a new Maradona or even a new Pelé!!! Well, the kid has confidence. He says his objective is to be the best in the world. Not a small dream. Brazil will have in its squad Lucas, already sold to Liverpool, and Pato, reportedly already sold to Chelsea.
Ye only the GeeGees use it, those ravens only care about basketball and their football team was disbanded back in 98'.
Actually their varsity soccer team did well a few years ago and is still going strong. They dropped the pointy ball program as you said in '98. Their basketball team has won what is it, 3 or 4 Cdn Univ titles in a row.
This is from todays Sun The stadium seats 30K so it will be a decent crowd. They were only selling tickets to the north side stand online but at 20K sold that means some of the south side must be open. Some of those seats will be to youth clubs in the area and there will be quite a mix of people there watching.
I would think we would wear red for any game we are designated the home team. However we've worn white at home in WCQ, so who knows what we might do. Plus since Chile and Austria are predominantly red as well, I think it's anyone's guess game to game. And of course the U20s have the all-black kits which are specificially for this tournament. I suspect we might see the all-blacks for the opener on Canada Day, though it would be really stupid IMO to be wearing black when everything/everyone else is red and white on Canada Day in and around the stadium including Chile. I'm bringing my red and my white kit and I figure I'll throw on whatever they're wearing on the day. If they wear black I'll wear whichever one is cleaner cheers, hobbes
Hopefully Canadian fans will wear read and their team black, in that way it will look like the stadium is full of Chilean fans.
brazil is gonna win it w/ renato augusto , alexander pato , fabio and rafael silva and brandao , come on brazil
It's being reported in the Canadian media that over 850,000 tickets have been sold for this event, the organizers seem to think 1,000,000 paid spectators is a realistic goal. There were a number of naysayers in the Canadian sports media who thought that this tournament was going to be an enormous boondoggle. This ought shut them up (this is mostly directed to a certain popular radio host on The Fan 590 in Toronto). This tournament will be a tremendous success, to go along with the Women's U-19 World Cup a few years ago. Canada is set to be awarded the Women's World Cup, and if it is successful it will be hard for FIFA to deny Canada the opportunity to host the World Cup in the not too distant future. It would also provide the perfect opportunity to replace a number of aging CFL Stadiums.
what i dont get is that why didnt Argentina take Lionel Messi..i know that hes at the Copa America..but he can go to that later on in his lustrious career..and Spain didnt take Farcesc Fabregas(Arsenal)..i see Freddy Adu thier and this is his 3rd u-20 World Cup..i beleive that if he dosent get any offers from europe this wc..than he should not participate in the next one in 2009..the USA should give the oppurtunity to another young kid..hes had his chances already
Three, two, one...Canada! (FIFA.com) Wednesday 27 June 2007 Finally, after months of eager anticipation, the world's finest youth players are on Canadian soil, ready and waiting to get the action underway. And the setting could hardly be more ideal. From the gentle summer temperatures to the lush greenery, and of course the characteristic friendliness and open nature of the Canadian people, the 24 finalists are sure to feel right at home. Ticket sales have been equally encouraging, with total sales of well over 600,000 recorded a week prior to the tournament. Link: http://www.fifa.com/u20worldcup/news/newsid=540108.html#three+canada GO CANADA GO!!!
People are pissed at FIFA for "forcing" them to use the 600k number. Ticket sales are currently at 950k and counting.
Will anyone acutally for a second think that Chile will have more fans at a Canada game on our national holiday?
