    On a side note... my cat had an ultrasound today... and the vet shaved his belly:

    Poor kitty.

    Everything's relatively okay with him. He just has tiny kidneys.

    *wonders if this forum will ever perk up again, as the WWC is just 2 months from now*

    Poonie has unavoidable commitments, and really, only a couple people have posted here consistently over the months. I suspect this is a touchy subject, and I'd like to make one last-ditch appeal to everyone who has dropped by here in the past couple weeks to rejoin the KK, to make it thrive once more. You are all welcome to come back. A tabula rasa deal - 'clean slate'. Otherwise, maybe it's just time to turn out the virtual lights and call it a day. It's :( to see that it's now July and we're still not even close to 450 posts.

    I miss you. I harbor no ill will toward any of you. I don't know what it will take to bring the KK back to a reasonable facsimile of what it used to be. I'm just grasping at straws, I guess, to try anything for a KK reunion. I hope you're all OK, wherever you may be.

    Take care.

    I think the biggest part of it's downfall is the lack of women's soccer. Yes, it's still there, but not like it was. I can barely tell you the named of 5 starters on the U.S. team anymore. Maybe 3 if I'm lucky.

    I think for me, I'm trying to move on. It'll never be the same without the WUSA. I mean, even Norway's looking completely different than in years past and Bente Nordby will surely retire from nat'l competition within the next 12-18 months.

    I've not even really been a part of other chat threads so much either. A PIP yes, but nothing major. I keep coming back to BS for the NSR threads and the occasional perusal of women's stuff, but that's it. I can log on once a week and know everything in about 5 minutes.

    Sorry. Not trying to bash. Just point out that we all went through a whole lot of heartbreak with the league, then we saw the founders drop one by one. And a lackluster showing in the last WWC probably didn't help either.

    Maybe with Nick's passing we should close down the KK threads. Or at least rename them something else. Just a thought.

    I disagree. If the KK dies out, so be it. But Nick started it and I think it should remain as it is until it comes to its own end.

    I agree with this.

    However, I also think that the KK threads were started WAAAAAY before a vast majority of current posters were even around. I would suggest beginning the 148th chapter with a well-composed history, definition and explanation of what the KK threads are all about. Given that, I think many current posters would grab on and make these threads fun again.

    Just my 2 cents... carry on!

    I'm all for keeping them around.

    Its a good general place to talk about this, that and the other thing.

    Additionally, with the WWC coming up, I bet traffic starts bumping particularly once games start.

    Agreed, too, that melby should start the new one.

    And as for you, Martininho, welcome aboard. One question, though. Are you a homer or a heathen? And agree or not that Atlanta is still midgy after all these years? :D

    True. I've been hanging out in the Women's Forums for a few years and really have no idea what the KK is other than a place for random, sometimes interesting discussion of the women's game and other non-related topics. Some history and explanation would be nice.

    I say keep it going! I'm one of those late comers but this place is awesome. All the randomness and comradery that's here is great. Where else can I post a pic about my bald kitty? Hehehe.

    I know this is a breach of BigSoccer protocol, but I think I'll reserve my answer until I can provide an informed one. ;)

    I for one an an occaisional poster and my Lack of enthusiasm for soccer at this time is one of the reasons I have not really been posting...

    hardto be excited about the current program as it is... with the founders leaving, no revival of the WUSA until next year (Not in Philly, so that even lessens my enthusiasm) I can't even be excited about the W-League because many of the friends are not playing due to nation team commitments or quarrels...

    Seriously thinking of leaving the board, definately changing my Moniker since the Charge is truly dead... I will be leaving PTP in the next week, never to post again there, so maybe it is time for me to leave here as well.

    We'd hate to lose ya, Chargefan. You're quality folk, with knowledge gained firsthand at the '05 W-League title game (which is my first-ever clinching of a sports championship seen live in person). :) But if it's to be, then I wish you and yours well.

    The USA will be without two players due to injury in forward Heather O’Reilly (shoulder) and midfielder Aly Wagner (groin), but a cavalcade of U.S. stars will come to Connecticut, including leading scorer Abby Wambach, who has scored in all four domestic matches so far this year and has an amazing 74 career goals in 92 games. Lilly and Wambach are joined on the forward line by Lindsay Tarpley (15 career goals) and Natasha Kai (seven career goals).

    Roster by Postition:
    GOALKEEPERS (2): Briana Scurry (Dayton, Minn.), Hope Solo (Richland, Wash.);
    DEFENDERS (6): Marian Dalmy (Lakewood, Colo.), Tina Ellertson (Vancouver, Wash.), Stephanie Lopez (Elk Grove, Calif.), Kate Markgraf (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), Christie Rampone (Point Pleasant, N.J.), Cat Whitehill (Birmingham, Ala.);
    MIDFIELDERS (6): Shannon Boxx (Redondo Beach, Calif.), Lori Chalupny (St. Louis, Mo.), Angela Hucles (Virginia Beach, Va.), Marci Jobson (St. Charles, Ill.), Carli Lloyd (Delran, N.J.), Leslie Osborne (Brookfield, Wis.);
    FORWARDS (4): Natasha Kai (Kahuku, Hawaii), Kristine Lilly (Wilton, Conn.), Lindsay Tarpley (Kalamazoo, Mich.), Abby Wambach (Rochester, N.Y.).

    There is plenty to be excited about. You seem to see everything in a negative light these days and I've been lurking around long enough to know that that wasn't always the case.

    It's a World Cup year. The team is finally playing some meaningful matches. They're not the founders but they are exciting to watch. They have interesting stories and personalities and are certainly worth getting to know. They are playing a more entertaining brand of soccer than they have even with the founders the last few years.

    The league is coming back. Philly doesn't have a team yet, but give it a year or two and maybe it will and maybe be grateful that you had one for 3 years. Its more than most cities have had.

    Things are different but that doesn't mean they are bad. Spend some time with your daughter and find a few new favorites to cheer for. Shake off the old and embrace the new ...

    or quit whinning about how bad things are. There not that bad an it's getting old.

    I have gotten to know a few of the players on the team...and I have met so many of the others... During their time with the Wildcats, I got to know Cat and O'Reilly pretty well, I still speak to Heather's dad from time to time and anytime I see heather is pretty great. Some of my favorite players were never on the USWNT. I am thinking about heading to a W-League game this weekend, but we will see. I intend to go just to enjoy the game and cheer on a few friends, not to volunteer. I never said things are bad, just not as exiciting for me as they once were.... check out the videos on my site, I put that together in May...

    I'd be honored to start the next one.

    CRays, clue me in if I'm not around. I don't have the internets at my temporary place right now.
