This would probably be my current CONMEBOL squad:

    -------------Calero
Ivan Cordoba-Aqivaldo Mosquera-Cristian Zapata-Roberto Carlos (sadly Colombia doesnt have a right back or Id choose him)
    ----Mascherano-Mark Gonzalez
    -Messi--------------------Kaka
-------Tevez------Luis Jimenez (chile, lazio not sure if I spelled his name right but was amazing against Inter last week, very promising)

Where are Lugano, Forlan, Farfan, to name a few, in that squad?
That Defense is too old and beside Kaka and Messi the midfield and the attack is just a bunch of highly irregular guys playing together. If this is our best 11 where even worst that I would have thought.
Still is way better than the one with Ayala and Abbondanzieri on it.

Let's not go to the other extreme... IRC + Yepes are 30... Colombia has had the best defense in the last 2 WCQ. At '30' they're at their peak looking down (makes me feel old already at 34). Sports medicine and sports therapy have a guy like Roger Clemens getting $25MM a year to win 10-15 games for the Yankees...in 2007 athletes are definitely maintaining different standards!

Thought I'd give mine CONMEBOL squad as well :)

    ----------------Gomes------------
    D.Alves-----Ayala----Alex-----Morel
    -----Mascherano---Gilberto-------
    Messi----------Kaka---------Farfan
    ---------------Tevez--------------

To bad for Ronaldinho but I think Farfan will be better in this team.

    -----Mascherano---D.Pizarro-------

    ---------------D.Milito--------------

D.Milito has been so much better than Tevez this season. Tevez only had what , like 6 good games?
Id even put Crespo ahead of Tevez this season.

You're doing the same thing in the Ronaldinho position.

I could say the same thing about Ronaldinho and his replacement (be it Farfan or not). How many good games did Ronaldinho actually have? Not much. I've watched pretty much all Barca games this season and let me tell you, he's had a "meh" season...for a player of his calibre.

Yeah but the thing is, Ronaldinho is having a bad season ONLY because of his high standards. But if you look objectively, he hasnt played that bad at all, just not as great as 2006. But I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say that position is disputed.

Would be surprising to see how Farfan would do at Stamford Bridge being that for the most part, latin american players dont do too well in England.

I doubt he is going to get much playing time. Chelsea often play with just 1 striker and the order would be

    Drogba --> Shev ---> Pizarro

 Morel is by far the best left-back in Argentina. He's been playing amazing now for more than a year. He just won the Libertadores playing in a position that's not his natural because of injuries and he was amazing. I'd say he's been the most consistent Boca player for a while now.

Tevez has been fantastic the 2nd half of the season at West Ham United, he saved the club from degradation almost all by himself.

And further, I think Tevez can create more goals than Millito who seems to need some players providing assists, Tevez can produce a lot of assists and with players like Messi, Kaka, Farfan you have an ideal attack.
All of these players can produce their own goals as well assists for others.

Pretty much sums up my feelings as well. Tevez contributes so much more than just goals. And he's been amazing on the NT level.

That being said for the formation Yañez put up Milito probably works better because he's a typical 9. I don't think Tevez would work too well as a lone CF.

You just said: he's not even playing LB. I know they're your team and as a result of that you want to include him but I don't know if he's currently the best LB South America has to offer (considering he's not even playing that position). :)

Even if he wasn't in my team. There are Boca players that I can say aren't that good or are not NT material. Ibarra just got called up to the Argentina squad but I don't think he should have.

Morel on the other hand if he was Argentine currently I'd start him in LB insted of Heinze. And I love Heinze. That's how highly I rate Morel.

He played few games LB at the beginning of the season but then swtiched to CB because of injuries. Either way his versatility is great and he's amazing in both positions. I've been watching him play for a while now and he still doesn't fail to impress me. His consistency is incredible.

Who do you think is a better LB from South America?

Well not to be biased, but Vidal is gotta be top 5. Second Top scorer during the sub20 qualifiers playing as a LB (lost only to Cavani who is a forward, Champ with Colo Colo, Sub-Champ in Copa Sudamericana, Sold to Bayer leverkusen.

No, he only plays LB for the Senior NT (which was about two caps--though he did shut Palacio down in that friendly). For our U20s he played as a DM. For Colo Colo, he plays as the left CB.

That's interesting to do a U-20 CONMEBOL squad. I'll try, but I need some help.

    ----------Romero
    ?????--Vidal-Cahais-Marcelo
    -------Banega-Lucas
    --Pino--------------Anderson
    -------Pato----Aguero
