Germany take on San Marino and Wales play Czech Republic. Hoping The Welsh can hold the Czechs.

I hope Wales will be able to hold onto a draw. The Czech's didn't look so good against Cyprus.

Hopefully San Marino doesn't bend over again and take it from the Germans, perhaps they might even pull off a draw (kinda like they nearly did against us!)

I swear I have this feeling that Giggsy (playing in his LAST EVER WALES GAME) will come out and lead the welsh onto victory 2-1!

Buf after seeing them draw New Zealand 2-2 last week.. I doubt I see that happening...

Wales 0-0 Czech Republic at Half Time. Awful match.

There is something to be said for avoiding these June fixtures - neither side look interested. The Czechs have the quality to break Wales down, but I can see it ending 0-0 - which would be a great result for us.

God, Wales are negative though. 5 at the back they always seem like they are just hanging om.

Wales were very good in the second half. Giggs outstanding I thought.

    Great result for us.

We definitely have to beat them in the head to head fixture, assuming we both lose against Germany.

Yea those September fixtures are vital. Hopefully we take all 6 from them but I can see us only getting 4.

Who do we want to win between Germany and Slovakia tomorrow?

Slovakia for me, if they win and then we win every game left (OK, perhaps not realistic, but possible) we will qualify in 1st place. Shoot for the moon and get over the fence I guess. Perhaps the ideal result is a 0-0 draw

Germany are going to qualify in first place. On that basis for them to win all their remaining games, except the one against Ireland, makes the most sense. A German win tomorrow puts Slovakia 4 points behind Ireland with the same games played. You want Slovakia to have as little as possible to play for when Ireland go there. They still have San Marino home and away.

I suppose your right as we certainly no longer have any sure wins (it saddens me greatly to say the Cyprus is no longer a sure win for us :().

I would like to see Germany qualified by the time they come to Dublin.

Well, Germany bet them 2-1. Agree it was a good result.

Slovakia did cause them one or two problems in the second half, but the Germans looked pretty comfortable.

I think we will win pretty good against Cyprus at home. Revenge will be on the minds.

    I'd say something liek 3-0 or 4-1.

Is the FAI cheap or were we given a bad hand?

2 HUGE games no matter how you look at it (before the ball was kicked even) is spaced 4 days between each other.

WE HAVE TO beat slovakia.... and then 4 days later we have to beat the Czechs! thats crazy!

I hope this wasn't sent up so the FAI could save some money on not having to fly into the czech/slovak area twice...

In terms of tie-breakers, are away goals taken into account? ie do we have to draw 2-2 or better in Prague in order to have a superior head to head record over the Czechs?

    * The top two teams qualify automatically from each group.

If two or more teams are equal on points, the following criteria are applied to determine the standings:

    a) Higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question.

    b) Superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question.

    c) Higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question.

    d) Higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches played among the teams in question.

    e) If, after applying criteria a) to d) to several teams, two or more teams still have an equal standing, the criteria a) to d) will be reapplied to these two to determine the standing of these teams. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria f) and g) will apply.

    f) Results of all group matches: 1. Superior goal difference 2. Higher number of goals scored 3. Higher number of goals scored away from home 4. Fair play conduct.

    g) Drawing of lots.
