I heard Frank Yallop cuzin at Nate Jaqua because he was not playin right. I heard Frank scream and say thing like "Come on Nate, You are fvk!n better than that", "What kind of a pass was that, Shit!" "Box him Out! You are bigger than him!" Really people, I could not beleive how disappointed and how much you can see on Franks face, that he wanted to just wanted to slap the $hit out of him. I felt good when I started to scream and cuz at Jaqua too and then I recieved a glance from Yallop and just nodded his head. Jesus! people we need to get rid of him fast!, This cannot find his form in Galaxy uniform and yesterday was just another example.
It's obvious that Jaqua has no interest in being a forward. He spent the last 30 minutes of the game yesterday playing on the right in midfield.
Funny Movie The Scene : Nate Jaqua in Mercedes as he pulls into Moonlight Bunny Ranch, Nevada. Jaqua - gets outta car see's hot big-boobed blonde Blonde bimbo - "Come on Nateeee, come get some!!" Jaqua - "Here I come baby" Jaqua - just then Nate rushes outta car just as he opens his arms to hug the prostitue who is going to ride him like a dime store pony. he trips over his foot, smacks his head into a step and knocks himself competely out. What's the moral of the story - Jaqua couldn't score in a whore house.
It's not new. Frank has been playing this setup all year long. Jaqua starts up top, and when 'Irish' Findley or whoever comes in at half or somewhat thereafter, Jaqua moves off to the wing. The point is that's the plan, and notably, when Jaqua plays the wing spot, he's a little more effective in helping the offense.
I actually thought Nate seemed to work hard last night and was able to make a few runs, get into dangerous positions and hold the ball up well on numerous occasions. In that regard I thought he did pretty well. However, he did lose a number of balls and his finishing can't even be called finishing. He's done alright...but what he did wasn't finishing. I have yet to see a game where he puts a shot on frame. Maybe I missed one last night but I don't really remember him forcing a save from the keeper. He may have headed the ball up in the air and the keeper grabbed it once...but never a shot that was going in the goal...unless everyone were to clear the area and the ball hit a tuft of grass on the fall and angled itself just right thus barely rolling across the line....hypothetically of course. I kind of felt bad for him yesterday...I did think he worked hard.....quite frankly he's just not very good and his first touch is abysmal. He's not Naldo worthless but.....oh yea that reminds me....all the talk about Naldo coming to our rescue....go Nate!
herc has more goals this year thats what forwards do last time i checked, score. What good does it do us if jaqua can hold the ball and not score. We wasn't brought in to be a midfielder.
perspective people. jaqua has been horrible these first 7 games. last night in practice he was missing chances in practice for heaven's sake. however i'm tired of this instant gratification mentality. how many times have we complained that "oh we should never have traded player x"... remember the gripes about ching, mullan and umpteen others? jaqua proved to be a competent forward in chicago over several seasons, he didn't just magically turn to crap. we need to show a little faith... we bailed on ching after 8 games and one goal, only for him to turn up two seasons later in san jose and scores 14 goals in 15 games. additionally, who else are we going to put in there right now? findley? he plays with heart and has exceptional speed, but he's very, very raw. throw jaq in the reserves once gordo is match fit, let him get his confidence back, but we shouldn't throw him to wolves unless there's someone really decent we can get for him... ching maybe, perhaps he needs a change of scenery as houston is doing worse than us.
Exactly. Yeah, he's been a bust so far. But if we drop him, we aren't suddenly going to have another forward magically show up and take his place. Until Gordon gets healthy and this mystery forward gets signed, he's who we've got...
I thought he showed marked improvement in the DC game. Didn't score but did not look as lost as before. Hopefully something will start changing. Here is hoping that the "new signing" we are hearing about can also help him break out of his slump.
My wife called him a "lumbering oaf" that was before, he shanked a shot 12 feet wide of the net... Too bad there isn't checking in soccer, he would do well.
Wow , that miss was scandalous. He's trying too hard and it's affecting him. Performance anxiety for sure, better hit the couch with someone with a pad in hand ready to listenin' to him.
After I saw that I was about to run on the field and take his place. I can do that and I woudn't even ask for a paycheck.
Just thought I would pile on here for fun. We have played 7 games and Nate has 15 shots and only 5 on goal. That's right, our starting forward has 5 shots on goal in 7 games. No wonder I was thinking I had yet to see him put a shot on goal....you really need to have been paying close attention because it doesn't happen very often. I honestly thought he didn't play that bad on Sat...but 5 SOG for the year is pathetic. So he averages just better than 2 shots per game but when he shoots only about 33% of the time does it actually have a chance of going in the goal. For comparison....Angel has 17 shots in 4 games and both Mathis and Altidore have 17+ shots each. To add insult to injury Nate has no assists. So seven games in he has no points period. As much as I want to give the guy a chance I just don't know how many more chances you can give him. We are really frustrating to watch (less the Chivas match) and he is a big part of that....our lack of class up top is absurd and at this point I really don't have confidence in Beckham saving the day and though I love the idea of Beckham on our team I really think a player like Angel would have been better. I'll be happy to admit I am wrong if Beckham and Donovan find a winning formula. Beckham providing passes for Donovan to run onto could become lethal and fun to watch....but right now I just don't enjoy watching our team play and I think it's going to get worse over the next 3 weeks. Sigh.
It's getting harder to defend Nate, but dashiel did a good job. Chins up, people (this pep talk is for me).
I agree 100%. Not having Beckham was never an option, but finding someone for your "#9" role has to be the priority for every team. I'm repeating myself, but our great failure in the off-season was being satisfied with Gordon and Glinton at this position. This is the spot where you use your allocations and pay the most you can.
