Zidane would actually get MLS highlights show on our local sports reports as MLS now is basically ignored in cities that don't have an MLS team.

It would be a HUGE 1-2 punch if he came to the U.S. along with Beckham. Zidane is more exciting to watch than Beckham and it would provide a huge boost to MLS' profile and image.

SO WHEN IS ZIDANE GOING TO GET OVER HERE?

He's retired and old and hasn't played for a year. He looked into coming here after he found out how much money Beckham is getting, but thankfully turned it down. So to answer the question: Hopefully never.

It would be great Zidane did play in the MLS. He is way better player than Beckham, but I don't think Zidane is more marketable player than Beckham though.

Zidane would be great for the mls, since he is a worldwide star, he is also known as a "Bad Guy" in the U.S. for his headbutt on Matterazzi, and America loves to promote Bad Boys. Zidane should only play in a big market team like New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles. Zidane could easily become America's favourite player that you love to hate, he could become popular like barkley, mcenroe, rodman, artest, mike tyson, etc. Plus Zidane has that shaved head and stone-faced look to intimidate opponent and he is marketable.

the more stars the better to help promote the game in the US. However, this one just won't happen.

He is retired. He's done it at the highest level and has all the money he needs, he's never courted celebrity - why the hell would he go to the MLS.

Coming to MLS in order to court celebrity would be a bit of an error.
There is no celebrity in MLS. Beckham will be the closest, becuase he and Posh are established world brands. Zizou, sorry to say, is a celeb only to every French person alive in the last 10 years and soccer aficionados. Coming here just might give him a break from celebrity.....

Zidane is a celebrity to every football fan who has watched him play.

Anyway, we are agreed, there is no reason for him to go to MLS.

I disagree, I think he should come to the MLS.
Of course, that is only because I want to get the chance to watch him in person.

Well that is the only reason you'll find. ZZ could walk into any major European football club, I'd obviously love to see him at Celtic, but he's finished with the game and went out in typical fashion.

I'm fairly sure he was taking the piss, or at least I dearly hope so.
