    Really incredible.
But what I really find incredible is The Sun putting Owen's and Beckham's goal as possible best goals ever. :p

    Errrr, you mean these two:

    Beckham:

    Owen:

If you'd care to explain to me how those aren't two of the greatest goals ever scored, I'd love to hear it.

Your constant hating on anything to do with England is pretty ********ing dull.

Beckham's goal is fantastic, but Owen's really doesn't deserve to be mentioned among the greatest of all time. Sure, it's a great goal with a fantastic first touch, and even better considering the context of the game and his age and small size (yet still holding off the defenders strongly). But anywhere near the top 10 of all time? No. It's simply not that special or unique. Would you rate Henry's goal at the Bernabeu in last season's anywhere near a Top Goal of All Time? Because I don't think anyone would, and it's a similar goal, with some possibly even better elements (needs to create the pace himself as he receives the pass at a standstill, probably a more difficult finish...)

Sure, Owen's was a great goal at a great time from a rising star, but on it's own merits it is not a Best of All Time.

Anyways, anyone else think the Swedish goal was a cross gone wrong? He screws up the Rabona technique, so I don't think he could have meant it. EDIT: Looking again, I'm really not sure. Only one of of his team mates look like theyre in positions to receive a cross. But before he "shoots" he doesn't look at the goal, just to about where that teammate is. Hmmm

I take your point about Owen's goal. It IS a tremendous goal, but you're right, it's not one of the all time greats. I think my response was more motivated by the fact that that particular poster seems to be a complete Anglophobe, which annoys me.

As for the Vasquez goal, the first I saw of it was a friend from Denmark e-mailing me a link to a segment from a Swedish show showing the goal and an interview with the man himself. According to my friend (who claims to speak Swedish:D ), the guy says in the interview that he had practiced it several times in training, saw the keeper off his line and thought "why not?".

I'll be brief because I hope you might be kidding.

Beckham - nor the first nor last to score from there and it was a plain Premier League match

Owen - it wasn't even the best goal of the tournament

Now it will seem I was trying to say those goals sucked which of course isn't true. Every country had a couple of fantastic goals of their own, these definitely aren't the best goals ever. The English are way too biased which is ok before you start acting like insulted girls when said so.

If these players were English these would also be "the best goals ever".

I think I made my point. And why you have a problem with me, don't know, don't care.

That Davor Suker goal is a tidy finish but he's all alone. I'm not sure how you think that compares to Beckham or Owen's goals. That Stanic one is dope, though, but the fact he has so much time on the ball to do his little kick ups makes it look a lot better than it is. Not taking anything away from either goal, I just don't think they're as good as the two you mentioned.

I think the fact that you constantly deride anything to do with England for no apparent reason (this thread didn't even have anything to do with England yet you managed to get a dig in) belies the fact that you have a massive chip on your shoulder.

Hrvat your being very silly about Beckham's goal, if you can't see why it's considered one of the best of all-time I really don't know what to say. Yes there have been other goals scored from the half-way lien and even furtehr back, but show me one where the scroer has as little space, the goal keeper is more on his line, the finish is better executed and the player shows that much vision. Most goals scored from a player's own half are either flukes or the goal is undefended.

You're right about Owen goal though. it's a good goal, but no more and your right it's certainly wasn't the best goal of the tournament, Dennis Bergkamp's goal was much, much better and could geniunely be considered as oen of the best of all-time (IMO it's the best World Cup goal of all-time).

The video is low quality so it hides a brilliant diagonal pass and a fantastic receive by Suker. The ball was completely on the ground when he chipped it and if you add that it was the best goalkeeper in the world in the goal it's really a stunning goal.

Don't know what you're talking about. But EOD as far as I'm concerned.

Going by your own logic, the Stanic goal you posted can also be completely discarded because 'it was a plain Premier League match'.

When it comes to sheer impact and a heart stopping finish, I have to nominate Mario Kempes' second goal from the 1978 Final. I can't imagine watching that without having a heart attack if I were Argentine.

Whilst he executes great skill there, and it isn't that often you see a bicycle kick actually go in... I don't think you can say that's the greatest ever goal. His team had just lost possesion, there's nowt to lose so he takes a chance. More than a little luck involved.

Yeboah on the other hand controls the ball while running at speed, then bring it down which he does by cushioning it off his knee, again while running at tremendous pace and then manouver past two defenders, going through a tightly packed defence like a knife through butter and then unleashes the most vicious strike I've ever seen.

I haven't seen anything to better it.
