this polish source claims Fabianski has signed for Arsenal for 3 million euros.

    http://www.sport.pl/pilka/1,65050,4116662.html

    - 3 million euros
    - was in London for 2 days and returned to Poland on Tuesday night since Legia Warszawa have a game on Wednesday
    - also says that only thing left to negotiate is personal contract terms for Fabianski and this will happen later in the week

However I have no seen English source confirming this..

I had this great post earlier but hit the wrong button and then had to run and get some things done. As I can appreciate needing more scoring, I just wanted to point some numbers out in regards to other teams and their forwards scoring. Underneath is the top scoring midfielder. I tried to go 4 deep for the forwards, but as you can see, its not always possible. These are goals in all competitions.

    Man U: Rooney: 23, Saha: 13, Solskjaer: 11
    Ronnie: 21

    Chelsea: Drogba: 31, Sheva: 14, Kalou: 9
    Lampard: 21

    Liverpool: Crouch: 18, Kuyt: 13, Bellamy: 9, Fowler: 7
    Gerrard: 11

    Scum: Keane: 21, Berbatov: 21, Defoe: 16, Mido: 5
    Jenas: 8

    Arsenal: RvP: 13, Henry: 12, Adebayor: 12, Baptista:10
    Gilberto:10

So, we've had our top two scorers out for almost half a season and a guy adjusting to the league, and still our top 4 forwards have banged in 10 each. I'll say it again, I really don't see us going out and signing a top-notch guy unless we're getting rid of either Henry or RvP or both, even with Baptista probably on his way out. If Bendtner can come in and get about 7-10 in all competitions, I think we're solid provided we don't get the injury problems we've had this year.

I read on another forum that Alves would cost around 20 million euros. There are other teams looking at him too.

According to this article, Babel has a get-out clause of 6M pounds and that he rejected a move to Newcastle in Jan ..

EDIT: Wenger - Title hopes do not depend on new signings

He has played well on the right for Holland but I would think it a shame to let him there, he's at his best in the traditional no. 10 position behind the striker or indeed as striker. The Dutch view on this is that you have to give your best players a position where they have the chance to be as influential as they possibly can be, and that's not on the wing.

This qualifying campaign for Holland, Van Persie has played in the striker position only. And he's been amazing there.

yeah the only problem is henry keeps or kept coming way to deep this season and linking with the midfield, even when rvp played

id personally rather henry did the left wing stuff less as hes lost a lil pace and stopped coming so deep, unless hes playing wiyth a target man

i would rather henry be on the shoulder of a defender with people like rvp playing him through as well as cesc and players from a deeper position

we can play 4 3 3 but its not the sole formation to beat defensive sides

we create so many chances but just dont finish them which is why we dont win games we should

the 4 4 2 can become alsmost a 4 3 3 when attacking anyway but would probably involve rvpo starting as a winger and moving up with henry and ade/bendy as the target man

if rosicky plays he can then come inside through the middle

i personally think cesc and silva are more suited to a 4 3 3 midfield myself

I say this quite regularly, so I'll say it again :p , I think Wenger will play Henry and Adebayor up front, with RvP on the wing.

If we can get away defensively with them and Rosicky on the pitch at the same time, it gives us loads of flexibility. Yes,Henry drifts wide, but then Adebayor can hold the front line for long balls, or Rosicky can cut inside ala Pires. RvP can play wide, or if Henry is wide left, he can come into the middle. Fabregas could then utilise that space, or Eboue could bomb forward into it. Any team would struggle to have a system to defend against that amount of movement across the width of the pitch.

I think we can solve our problem by informing our players that shooting is part of football. :p

I'm sure that will happen some, but I expect us to have more of a striker rotation happening depending on matchups. We saw it a little bit this year when all three were actually healthy, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that rotation again next year. Ideally it would help to keep all three of them fresh and injury-free.

That said, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing all three in the same game, either. I am just not expecting it very often.

Apparently the mancs are planning a big summer ahead of them.

Papers have their transfer budget at up to 50m, and have mentioned eto'o as one of their top targets.

We need to do something big - something uncharacteristic of us this summer, or we may get left behind. No doubt roman will be spending another few hundred million since they failed to win the league and lost out on the CL, liverpool have an american cash injection this summer, and their recent victory seems to have got the glazers more optimistic in spending too.

    I thought Eto'o was coming to us ?? ;)

ManU need to replace Giggs, Scholes, Neville and OGS pretty soon just to stay still.

Chelsea will get Alex, or a.n.other CB. I doubt they'll buy much more, though Robben may be on his way out and need to be replaced.

Liverpool will probably continue to buy good (but not brilliant) players. They haven't got any obvious holes in their squad, unlike Chelsea, so they'd have have to spend significantly in a single position to improve... It will be interesting to see how much the new owners do cough up...

    me too!! :p ;)

Fabianski is all but a done deal.

Medical taken and passed. The clubs have agreed upon a deal.

All that remains is for him to agree personal terms, will happen this week.

Yes, Le Boss. We do need better balance, but we also need to learn how to friggin' shoot the ball. Somewhere in training, the focus needs to shift to finishing, rather than fancy footwork in the box.

That fancy footwork has not resulted in goals, something Arsenal has been in sore need of.

    Riiight.

We've scored 63 goals. Chelsea have scored the same, Liverpool less, Manu 20(?) more. A fit Henry and RvP would have got 40-45 between them. That's probably an additional 15 on what we've scored this season. Add in a couple more from Rosicky and Cesc, and that's 80. You could actually say that scoring (given the state of the players available) has been pretty good.

Where did fabianski just show up from, and is he any good? Also, why did we get him when there were keepers like craig gordon available for about 5m?

He's not a bad GK either, can be quite good at times.

He's just not well known and is stuck behind Boruc.

Seems like the Fabianski deal is coming to fruition... I'll be honest, I'm pretty pleased! I'm happy that though we signed Lehmann we're still being proactive and getting another keeper to challenge for the #1 spot.
