Should be a fantastic match. This will by far be the best Thursday night game so far. Hope the weather is nice, and hopefully there'll be a nice crowd...

DC is 0-3. Why is this going to be such a great match?

Does anyone know what the tv ratings have been for the previous Thursday night games?

Well, it's a historic rivalry (relatively speaking). D.C's at home and they really need the win. All of these factors could make for a pretty interesting game.

Because DC should lose. That AUTOMATICALLY makes it a great match.

So, I've noticed the severe lack of standing up for the Black and Red in this thread, so I thought to go at this in a more politically correct angle. True, our boys have been...lacking...this season. But I think everyone would agree that once DC figures out what is currently ailing them that the team who is on the receiving end of a DCU revival is not going to know what hit them. Will it be the Revs this Thursday? I'm reluctant to say yes, but we have all the tools to destroy any team in MLS. Now if we can just prove that out on the field, I can get out of this bubble of depression I've been curled up in since the beginning of the season.

yeah, it should be a great showcase for the MLS. Playing in a decaying baseball stadium where you can still see the baseball field half-assedly patched over. It should really legitamize MLS to the potential fan flicking through the channels.

There was a rumor that D.C. UNITED HEAD COACH TOM SOEHN will be fired if DC lost this Thursday and JOHN ELLINGER will take over. :)

It sure beats playing with football lines.

Honestly I think this match will be a snoozer. There is nothing exciting about watching New England play, I fell asleep during their game on Sunday. United can't connect 2 passes together without giving the ball away right now, so I'm really not expecting a spectacular showcase of soccer on Thursday.

Irrelevant. We only have lines to deal with, and we only have to deal with them for the remainder of this year.

The poor patch job of a dirt infeld in DC can actually affect how the ball is traveling. Lines just look bad, they don't interfere with the run of play.

my post wasn't an attack on DC United, it was an attack on whoever decides which games to televise on ESPN2 on Thursday Nights. I don't see why those people couldn't choose games that leave the best impression to the potential fan. One of the ways to do that is by televising games in soccer specific stadiums. Why couldn't they bump the Toronto home opener to a Thursday night game? That would have been an amazing atmosphere to show a national audience on ESPN2.

its not our fault and we do the best with our bad situation which is more than i could say for the inhabitants of giants stadium. you have football lines and a cavernous stadium that both contribute to a bad viewing experience because of the resulting eyesores and morgue-like atmosphere. and if you think that your plastic carpet doesn't effect the play on the field then you are fooling yourself. seriously, go bark up a different tree mr. kettle.

rivalry aside... while i'm very happy that ya'll are getting a beautiful new stadium (i really am), it will not be ready by anytime near opening day next year. i wouldn't be shocked if you don't move in until the middle of next season like dallas, chicago, and la. so don't get your hopes up for a giants stadium-free opening day. that old bastard won't go down without swinging it seems...

Anytime DC could lose their 4th consecutive match, is a good match.

I'll be watching from the top of the league. Thank you and goodnight.

i think that the prevailing opinion at mls/espn is that a packed lower bowl at a baseball stadium with a large group of fanatics bouncing at the center circle is probably a better viewing experience for the casual fan than 10,000 people strung out around a cavernous 80k seater with football lines or even a 65-75% full soccer specific stadium.

we got the mls cup based on our fan support for god's sake... despite our ************ stadium. trust me, the atmosphere won't be sub-par, but the game may be. :(

If DC loses this game you will no longer be on top of the league.I believe the Revs will be on top on goal differential.Remember there are 3 other teams breathing down your neck so enjoy it while you can.:)

Yeah but that lead would last possibly for only 48 hours.

Its a tough call, root for a draw and stay in first for 2 more days but give DC its first point of the year and end their losing streak.

Or root for a Revs win and laugh at DC for 3 more days.

I have to root for a DC loss...also because i have Twellman on my fantasy team this week.

Yeah, clearly all teams should be fearfull of players who slap the ball in the net in a motion very similar to that of swinging a purse. (A rod like 2 years ago anyone?) ;)
