I am looking forward to this one! This will be a great test for Canada against a team that will be comparable to the Chilean side they'll open the U-20 World Cup against.

While I did get a chance to see the Canadian U-20 side against the USA at the Rogers Center last summer, I still don't know much about our team this year?

Any speculation on who will play against Argentina on May 11th?

On a personal note, I am looking forward to happily cheering against Argentina for the first time! During the WC and on May 11th, I'll be ditching my light blue and white stripes for the beautiful maple leaf!

    Go Canada!

Weirdness...this thread was apparently deleted by me. I have reopened it as it is obviously not "spam". Not sure how that occured. I note that a thread I did deleted is now showing as having been deleted by Doyle, so a miscue obviously occured.

Argentina is 10x better than Chile's U-20 team. They're not comparable at all. However, since it's a friendly, I doubt argentina is going to go all out...so they may play down to Chile's level.

don't kid yourself... in the u20 qualifire, chile tied uraguay, brazil and argentina, beat colombia 5-0 and eventually lost to paraguay 3-2 to finish in 4th...

2 of the top 3 scorers in the tournament and 3 in teh top 10. don't underestimate!!! thsi will be a great match and so will chile vs canada.

hey, bro, It's just a friendly game, so I think ARG will not treat it real.

argentina has a lot to prove. if canada scores a couple of quick goals, do you think they will want to be shamed? not really. they are the reigning champs right? and tey will have some strong support here. but not as much as our canucks! i hope we have a sellout crowd! all tfc fans should be there!

he's going to be playing copa america with the senior side during the same time. However, the best player in the tournament may yet still be an Argentine if Aguero is not picked to the copa america team and if Gonzalo Higuain decides to come to Canada.

Argentinine international coach has announced to the pulic, Messi , Aguero and Hyguin , they are all adult , they should take adult team games. so, personally I think they still have chance to take part in copa america.

You are correct indeed! I saw alot of the Sub20 Tournament in South America and Hugo Tocalli's Argentine side was not at all impressive. If not for a miracle goal on the last play of the game, Argentina would have tied with Uruguay and would've finished 4th instead of 2nd. They were hard pressed to score during this tournament.

I was really impressed by the play of Chile and Uruguay. These are teams that could definitely fly under the radar and succeed at the U20WC!

thats pretty cool. last time out, ricketts scored two goals... cam out of nowhere... look for lombardo, peters and jackson to have strong games in the goals department. i really want to see lacoste-lebuis. he's really young but might be nice for him to get a shot off the bench. kinda upset that kennedy owusu-ansah isn't playing i really wanted to see him... but i guess he's till playing in germany with his club. shoul dbe a good one though...

Did you see the same tournament as the rest of us? Or did you stop watching after Chile destroyed Peru with 10 players.
Chile was considered the best team even with the 4th place finish.

ANYWAY, i honestly think Canada will be the biggest competition in our group. I think if we can get a result against Canada, we will be fine. I heard the several players from Canadas U-20 already play in Europa so it would be a good match.

We also have several players already bought by European Clubs
    Vidal-Bayer Leverkusen
    Vidangossy-CD Villarreal
    Sanchez- Udinese
    to name a few...

And good luck btw, hopefully it will be a nice match and tournament, hope i can go as im in NY right now.

ok, don't believe me... even though Argentina finished 2nd without even playing well (in the worst attended, worst organized tournament, put in Paraguay--again--just to appease the CONMEBOL president. Hence why Brazil and Argentina are also going to the Olympics) meanwhile Chile, who were handed their access to the final round, nearly blew it and only got in through goal difference.

I don't have a reason to be biased. I call it like I see it. The U-20's is usually Argentina's best tournament, and there's no reason to believe they won't be a "top 4" side this year. What's another friendly to the defending champs? especially when there's still club soccer to be played in Argentina?
Yet, I have never seen Chile win a big game, ever. They barely even win away from Santiago--and especially not when there's a huge home crowd intimidating them.

This is what I mean when I say Argentina is on a higher level than Chile. Canada has a very good shot beating chile at BMO field--especially with a pro-Canada crowd. Against Argentina, Canada would need to play their absolute best and hope the bounces go their way. There's a difference.

(conclusion. Argentina high, Chile low: They don't compare)

You cant say Argentina is 10x better because of how YOU THINK Argentina will perform in the future. If you just look during the actual u-20 south american tournament, Argentina was not 10x better, im basing it on the tournament, while you, on your thoughts of the future.

There may be better forums to argue whether or not the Argentine U-20s are better than the Chilean U-20s. I suspect both will be a handful for Canada however.

Yeah sorry about it. Its obvious we wont agree. Anyway, like i said before, i think Canada will be our toughest rival in the group but i think we will win.
