It was good to finally see a shot...i hope he can teach the youngsters and when in doubt blast it. I was a little miffed last night at the lack of effort to put the ball on goal. It seems as though EVERY effort we made at attack was in the air looking for a head.. If you watch top-notch leagues like EPL or the Serie A you will see that alot of their goals are scored from 25 yds-35 yds. And they are NEVER wide open, but they take the shot anyway and around half the time a hole in the defense opens up AS the ball is in the air, and there is a shot on net. In my opinion, our boys need to take some shots from distance and just settle in more. If all you do is play the ball in the air, the defense ALWAYS knows what is coming.

It would be nice! It was fun to go see the Wolfpack play back in those days. I'll never forget seeing Lassiter take on 2 Clemson defenders and their goalkeeper alone to score in a 2-1 win vs Clemson in the NCAA's. btw, Schweitzer, and Brose used to play in the 30+ division at the Carolina Sportsplex for Center Point FC. I'm the keeper for Triangle Hotspurs. I'm honored to know I got schooled by some of the Wolfpacks best.

for every goal in serie A or the epl from 25-30 yards, there are 4 or 5 scored from balls played into the box for headers or scrappy goals.

plus i love our guys and everything, but if they could constantly hit bending 25-30 yarders then they would be playing in top european league

music was a lot better from what i could hear

I agree with you that they score more scrappy goals and goals from over the head, but then again they are in Serie A....We are in USL league one...We probably have a better chance to beat the keeper straight up with a shot from 25 yards or so... And like i said, when that is your ONLY attacking play you are running, not very hard to figure out EXACTLY what you are going to do EVERY time you do it

yeah the keepers are obviously better in Serie A, but i disagree i think we are more likely to score many more scrappy goals then 25 yard screamers like Low's goal, those will be the exception, not the rule

as for that being the only attack we were running, i agree thats too predictable, but have faith in Scott, he knows what he is doing and will definately fix it:)

Just watched the game on USL Live. They had a quickie postgame show on the radio and the first caller was asked by the hosts what he thought of the game.

Response: "It was a big waste of my time." :(

We weren't very attacking tonight. Edozian had a couple chances that went wide of goal but other than that I couldn't think of much substantive.

Hopefully we pull off our first win this week against PR.

Yeah I was listening to the post game show on WSHA. After I heard that, and the next idiot who kept hitting the telephone buttons, I called not really knowing what to say. I just talked some soccer BS for a bit and I think they enjoyed it.

For those of you who heard me I hope I didn't sound too stupid XD.

Nope! I only called cause I was worried no one else would make a decent call, of course there were some enthusiastic calls afterwards. So it all worked out.

It was better, but I can tell that I'm going to be sick of hearing "Cotton-Eyed Joe" by the end of the season.

A funny story about the music, my mother went to the game Saturday, only because I brought my kids and she'll follow her grandsons anywhere they go. She knows nothing about soccer and even had to ask (15 minutes into the game) which way the RailHawks were going, but as soon as they played the first bit of music during the run of play she said to me "What's with the music? They shouldn't be playing it. It sounds awful and is probably distracting the players."

My mother. I never knew she understood the finer points of watching a "footy" match.

Well, quite frankly I thought it sucked for any music to be playing DURING THE ACTION of a soccer game. I just could not believe my ears. And another thing: the management should consider scaling the merchandise tossing WAY back during the game. I can understand the family-friendly atmosphere from the standpoint of selling tickets, but these things are a distraction to a soccer fan actually trying to follow the game...

I thought some other supporters out there might find this HOWTO useful:

How to make a supporters flag pole for less than 4 bucks

Any other good tips to make cheap supporters supplies?

Any early word on how well the Chivas game will be attended?

I'm surprised I didn't hear much advertising about it at the game Saturday.

I'm sure they'll be hyping it more this weekend. BTW, the players (that I talked to Saturday after the match) are pretty stoked to test themselves against an MLS side. Should be a good warmup for the Open Cup.
