As was previously discussed, Desmond may have been projecting that it would be Penny that parachuted onto the island. I don't buy that by saving Charlie, Desmond changed who the parachutist was from Penny to the mystery woman.
That is my complaint too. The show is already too dragged out and too disjointed. The producers are really greedy, narrow minded and stupid if they believe this show will last through a sixth season. The maximium appears to be five seasons. They'd best end this after next season, but that won't happen. Clearly the producers need to look at the numbers. They no longer take on American Idol, and moved to the 10 pm time slot. They have issues with viewers disatisfaction due to a long winter hiatus (short fall and longer spring season) because of technical difficulties in producing a complete season of episodes without a gap. Also, there was talk about delaying Lost until January, but the producers don't want to do this. Six seasons, we'll see. They have quite a bit of hubris.
You're confusing the producers with the network. The producers want 5 seasons and they do want start the next season in January for a full run season like 24. The network is greedy and is trying to milk Lost for all the money it can. It wants 6 seasons and that's what they're getting. I don't know what the net's feelings were on the Jan. start up but everything I've read indicates that will be happening because of the hits it took this year with the 6 episodes then big break.
i could see the last season being off the island ... trying to get back into their lives (or in locke and kate and ...'s case, away from their lives). wrapping up loose ends. basically, see what becomes of them rather than ending the series with a ship on the horizon.
I wonder if that fence only causes a seizure, so those who try and cross it can be questioned at a later point in time.
Apparantly. It was never shown conclusively that he was dead, although they sure did a hell of a job implying it. Lot's of references to the Island's healing/medical powers tonight. I also liked the woman saying that they had found the wreckage of Flight 815 and there weren't any survivors. You wonder if the Others had something to do with this in any way.
Desmond letting Mikhail go and telling Charlie that they did kill more of the Others? Hmmm...seems suspicious.
And why was he named after a 19th century revolutionary anarchist anyways? He was supposed to be in the Soviet Army. Is there some sort of significance behind it?
I thought last night was a great episode. It was very moving. Bittersweet for Sun. My only quibble is why do women that get impregnated on the island die in the second trimester. If the island has the amazing healing powers why would it cause problems with a pregnancy?
From what I've read, the helicopter chick did not say "Thank You" to Mikhail. It was a little obvious, but apparently she said "I am not alone" in Portugues. Anyone see anything on this?
Yeah, had a feeling it wasn't, "thank you" but don't know what she said. Your translation seems pretty fitting though. I wonder what Juliet is up to. It seems like she's carrying out her plans for Ben, and said "I hate you" after she stopped the recording. And she said she was gonna get Kate's sample next. I wonder if she could be pregnant too since she had sex with Sawyer. The previews for the remaining episodes look awesome and will probably, in Lost fashion, leave us hanging.
I imagine it does. I don't know if there's a character name that isn't a reference to something - see Desmond, Charlie, Jack's father, Locke (obvs). There's something both nice and creepy about how Juliet turned on her OB doctor charm when she was doing the ultrasound. Was she happy to be doing what she really wants to do, interacting with and caring for a patient, or she's just acting?
what I took from this episode was that the others weren't after jack (he was a nice throw-in) but were after Sawyer and Kate. I mean, Kate HAS to be pregnant, right? was that the real goal ... the get Juliette another test subject. The sperm count goes up 5-6 times, Juliette calls those 'pretty good odds' ... and didn't she mention kate when she was talking in the tape recorder? of course, it's like Jack -- they coulda just asked Sawyer for his help and he would've said yes to a little afternoon delight. I'm looking for a translation of what naomi said (she's the pilot). Mikhail was certainly lying, as a previous poster said. did anybody else keep expecting Ben to pop up down in the hatch? I believed that Juliette was genuinely concerned about Sun, but I don't believe she's to be trusted, either. what about Jack? do you trust Jack? was sun right?
i've seen a list of all the upcoming flashbacks, and lemme tell you ... just by reading those there's gonna be some VERY interesting episodes coming up. like big-time cool.
oh and I can I say one last thing? did anybody else think Mikhail came running in like he was EXPECTING somebody to have shot a signal flare? The guy faked his own death, is former russian army, seems very smart ... does that seem like the type of guy who would just crash loudly through the jungle and accidently stumble upon some enemies? soo ... was he waiting for the pilot, thinking the signal flare was meant for him? or did Ben send him in to see if they had a phone/radio and to snoop? or was it just an accident?
They were looking for Jack for one reason (his skills as a surgeon, for Ben) and for Kate and Sawyer for another reason (to breed, which is why they put her in that dress and them in the cage together). Juliette's not to be trusted because Ben is forcing her to do his bidding. However, she's acting against her consience and it's possibly that her conscience might ultimately win out, at least temporarily.
I believe Juliette's wish to get off the island will overcome her conscience. What a horrible way too to arrive at the island too, drugged and then awaken once there. Clearly, there may be more of a wish for the Others to keep the exact location of the island secret. Perhaps the island is not as difficult to reach, particularly if the magnetic anonmaly is no longer present. Right now it appears that Jack is tossing his eggs with Juliette. I think Jack can be manipulated to do the Others bidding with the promise of getting off the island. I also wonder if Ben does not possess precognitive vision like Desmond or lied to Jack about the submarine being the only way to get off the island. Perhaps BEn saw that Locke would blow up the submarine and therefore keep Jack and Juliette on the island. If food can be drop shipped for the Others, then the island is not as inaccessible as the Others have led everyone to believe.
but they said the elctromagnetic shock from not pushing the button destroyed their beacon, which is how those ships were finding them.
