I'll be on the road during the game which sucks, looks like I'll be calling my brother for updates on the phone.
I believe that's because it's the first game of a double header, the second game is the RSL reserves vs the Fiji national team.
I have an indoor game at 6, so I guess I will catch the second half on the radio. I must say that having it on the radio is an awesome development. I can drive home and listen to the second half! Wow!
I for one hope that the Wizards take a serious run at the Open Cup this year. It would help build the confidence of the young players and also give the team some pressure packed games in the middle of the season. Being that the Wizards weren't invited to the SuperLiga I think the Open Cup should be a high priority. I'd like to see a lineup of Hartman Jewsbury Holbein Garcia Burciaga John Zavagin Marinelli Harrington Yura Sealy I would like to see them sub in Morsink, Pore, Elcock, and Wahl at some point in the 2nd half after the Wizards are up 3-0.
The issue with that is that this is the second game of 5 in a 15 day stretch. AndI'd be worried about some of the guys being exhausted by the end of the stretch. Personally I'm still not sure I want Marinelli starting yet, if he's in as bad a shape as it seemed, he's a half time sub automatically, and you should start the game thinking your starting 11 can go a full 90.
I was out at the practice yesterday and spoke with Marinelli. I asked him if he would be playing in Salt Lake he said he hopes to get about 45'. Very nice guy and his English is pretty good (just threw that in because of the use of an interpreter at the press conf.)
I'm not saying I want to exhaust everyone tonight so that by the end of this 5 game stretch we are wore out, but I'd would like to see the Wizards make the Open Cup a big priority this year. I'm not an expert on Wizards history but I believe that there are only 2 Cups in the trophy case to this point. I feel that the teams in the SuperLiga will not field as strong of teams in the Open Cup so the Wizards chances are that much better this year. Why not run Eddie Johnson out for 45-60 minutes tonight and try and build on the confidence he got from this weekend? I know the season is long and we don't want to over do things but I also feel the players need to build their stamina and the best way to do that is by playing games. All that being said, I'll take a win tonight anyway we can get it!
3 trophies, 2000 MLS Cup, 2000 Supporters Shield, 2004 US Open Cup. as for stamina, that's what the entire preseason was for. Guys looked to be in fine shape in DC on Sat night.
One of my most memorable experiences was seeing us win the USOC so I would hope that we would start a strong enough team to win the game.
The closest weather cam I could find. There's one at the university, but it was not working. The snow is not sticking to pavement but it is sticking to grass. I don't think it will stick to the recycled Sierra Mist bottles that Rice Eccles stadium uses for a field.
It's definitely going to be a cold and wet game tonight. Let's just hope both teams can walk away healthy.
looks like Salt Lake's radio may be free. Found this in the Salt Lake thread for the game. http://www.700thezone.com/
