http://www.sport.pl/pilka/1,80056,4068551.html well, what do you know?! Italy is snubbed and the poor cousins from the east get the big show big responsibility and a LOT of work to do in the next several years, but a great chance to grow the game (especially facility wise) in both countries
What a pleasant surprise as I got to work a few minutes ago to read Poland will be joint hosting EURO 2012. I am pleased that UEFA has given Poland a chance to host this big event instead of Italy. I hope Poland is able to straighten out their own domestic league and really take advantage of this unique chance. I can't wait!! Good work to all in Poland who made this happen.
I made sure to wake up early to see the results and my how pleasantly surprised I am. Great work everyone in Poland and Ukraine who got this done. I'm very happy right now.
I was praying for this to happen. My family lives in Kiev, and I will surely be there to book tickets for the final (purportedly at RSC Olympysky). Great job to my Slavic friends in Poland! A historic achievement for Eastern Europe!
This is excellent news. I am sure that this selection will be the impetus to build new, beautiful and modern stadiums, and to improve the Polish infrastructure in general. I for one can't wait to see the new Baltic Arena in Gdansk! After years of Soviet domination this may be the defining moment when we (and the Ukrainians) are finally fully integrated with civilized Europe. Great, great stuff and congrats to PZPN...who would have thought we'd say those words.
i sure hope Lechia is in the first division by the time the Baltic Arena is ready for use, or it will be the biggest and newest stadium in Europe used by a second division team!!! on a serious note... will Lechia play their games there or will they be building their own stadium (or will they share with Arka, perish the tought)
its already yellow (at least in the concept pictures) as its creators want to evoke the image of amber, and yet its green on the inside with Lechia like flags and color scheme (also in the concept pics)... but this is not the place to discuss this so who's going back to the old country in 2012?!
I graduate from college (hopefully) in 2009 so thats three years to get settled and put together some money for 2012. I think what we should also be celebrating is the fact that no matter what happens for Euro 2008 qualifying we've qualified for 2012! Aww yea, if you can't qualify in, host the thing
agree but it would look a whole lot better if we managed to qualify in 2008 before we make it in thought the side door in 2012
My wife's family is all from Poznan, and they've already expressed interest in coming with us for this. I've never been to Poland or Ukraine, but I'll be pencilling in this trip, definitely.
it hasnt hit me just yet. it probably will when i see a construction site on jarmark europa p.s. dla politykow-amatorow: a final bedzie we wloszczowej na nowym stutysiecznym stadionie narodowym ktory powstanie tuz obok stacji pkp
Who will build Polish stadiums - aren't all Polish construction workers in Germany? Congrats on the selection...I was really hoping Croatia could get Euro but it was not meant to be...who knows, maybe I'll stop by and see Warsaw or Kiev in 2012...
A jak ruszy budowa to miałbym taką sprawe do ciebie, tak z ciekawości dowiedzieć sie ile płacą na budowie takiego stadionu
i think according to Uefa rankings Poland's league is ranked 22nd or 23rd...its not very good right now, and if you look at the countries in front of Poland you can't really argue with it too much. SO hopefully this can get Poland on the right track, and hopefully the clubs play more legit football
first question is does anyone have pictures or a site link to this Baltic Arena...its sounds like it will be the best stadium in all the land of Poland also...2012 is too far away for me to know whether or not i will be going...as of right now i'd be down for it, but it all depends on the finances when the time comes
You can find all the information about host cities and stadiums here. Btw, browse around, there are a few pictures.
