Yo mean Landy going back to his old club in Houston or cross town rival Chivas USA?

I've been trying to keep this a secret but now I feel compelled to say it: Yes, it's true that I've "contacted Zidane's entourage" [well, I think I did, the email didn't bounce anyway] about the possibility of him joining my weekend rec team. He knows that "the door will always be open" for him to join the team. "His contract won't be a problem" [assuming he'll agree to play for little to no money].

The thing is, that same request was made before the Beckham signing for any threads that said he might be coming..;)

I had fun quoting a couple of those posts..:)

For the obvious statement of the night... the Galaxy could really use Zidane at this point to try to create offense. :D

Hopefully Zidane will decide to walk through the door.

lol. man is Beckham going to get a rude awakening joining this team. Seriously I will be surprised if Galaxy make the playoffs this year. They have some overrated abysmal players in Albright and Martino. If Donovan isn't on top of his game they can't win. And, Donovan could be gone for a while with Gold Cup, etc.

Seriously the league should let LA get Zidane just to spare Beckham from having a heart attack. lol

just to think about it zidane will make the team better but the team wount make much money ok a few thousand jerseys will sell but the real money comes from the seats HDC is only 25k it would be to small to hold two super stars and baby donavon, they could expand on the grass but thats it

I'm actually wondering if it's better for the league for the Galaxy to be good or bad this season given the media attention that will be on the team... Would it be better for the Glaxy to be winning with Beckham and have the international community be following the game of a quality MLS side? Or better to have the Galaxy be mediocre (or worse) and have people say the quality of the league is good enough that even a player like Beckham alone isn't enough to make a team dominate.

I'm undecided but I'm leaning towards the Galaxy being average and making the playoffs, but not being one of the top teams.

I disagree. I've seen both of their games, Houston one in person and the FCD one on TV. They have shown flashes of being a very good team. They are having some problems turning their half-chances into full chances. Martino has actually played OK, just not great.

Yallop is too good of a coach for the Galaxy to suck this year. I've seen what they have to work with and I believe they will be a good team this year...eventually.

They'll get better as soon as they put Albright at RB and put someone competent at RW. Short term, that's Kirk or Quaranta, I guess.

Actually, "Tribal Football" was simply referring to an article in a different publication, albeit a non-English one, the Italian sports daily Gazzetta Dello Sport. Whether you consider the Italian sporting media any more credible than "Tribal Football" is a different question, but at least in this case you can see from even the basic Babelfish translation of the page (link) that it was making a fair representation of the gist of the Gazzetta original.

Babelfish is obviously limited, for example I'm pretty sure "Il boss dei Galaxy è senza limiti «Che affare Beckham. E ora Zidane»" can be better represented as "The Boss of the Galaxy without Limits: «The Beckham Deal. And Now Zidane»" than "The boss of the Galaxy it is without limits "That Beckham transaction. And hour Zidane ""

FWIW, but I think that indicates that at least this didn't come out of thin air, as the article is indeed an interview with Mr. Leiweke about said topic.

Actually, the real money comes from the 1)the company that put the HD in HDC, and 2) the company that but the lifeweed on the front of the jersey, and 2)any other company that wants to be associated with a team that has both Zidane and Beckham.

Not that it's going to happen.
