"Decision on professional soccer stadium at SJSU expected soon" -- San Jose Mercury News Interesting, and I'm sure deliberate, choice of word: "by the 2009 season", not necessarily "in (or for) the 2009 season". So 2008 is still a realistic possibility. -G
Here's the bilingual breakdown on the EJ/Boca artice: It says that Boca is trying to expand into markets outside of South America as part of a "Boca Grows" initiative. As part of this initiative, they have been bringing in players from other parts of the world. They brought in a Swiss, a Japanese, a Chinese and a Hungarian player. All of these guys never played a game with the first team. So it looks like this is a clever little marketing scheme dictated by Boca's FO that never was supported by the coaching staff. And I suspect, due to EJ's lack of cleverness and skill on the ball, that he would become the next victim of this scheme if he were to go to BJs. I think he'd be better off staying in KC.
They should get a refund! Here's one about the U-20's game against the Haitian Nats in the closed door game that preceded US-Guat. Yanks Abroad Recap: http://www.yanks-abroad.com/content.php?mode=news&id=2918 Also, the Dallas-Morning News' "Cooper Applauded" article (linked in the 1st post) has a paragraph at the end about the U-20s game.
What was yesterday? US National Team Sleepwalk Day? 90th minute winner hosting Haiti? No winner hosting a Guatemala team that had just drew Barbados? Diz'amn.

I was surprised at the few number of people that were there. On TV, it looked like a heck of a lot more. Anybody at the game? Did they have all the fans sit on the east side of the stadium (opposite side of the camera's) to make it look more full than it was?
It only mentions that the Chinese player never played a game, and that the Hungarian just played one reserve match. I'm pretty sure the Japanese player got some decent playing time for a stretch.
I thought that it was the U.S. under-21 v. the Hatian national team (read NOT U-21s). And if you watched the national team game you would've seen that Guatemala put 10 people behind the ball the whole game and stuck Ruiz up top to try to poach a winner. They were playing for a 0-0 draw the entire game.
Same sentiments here although I would like to see our senior Nats be a little more creative in breaking down the opponent's bunker.

I think Boca would be the perfect place for EJ. He'll probably be the fastest player in the league and have service far superior to what he gets here in the U.S. He'll get the international exposure that he wants and not have to leave the hemisphere. If he can break into the first team, -which I think he will- he'll get a lot better for the nats. You guys can like it or not, but it seems to me that Bradley is going to use him. And I for one can't wait til he starts hitting the back of the net again.
Here, here, and here are your crowd of "10,932." The same match last year appeared to have less people, but reported a crowd around 14K. Either that's a typo, or that's a typo. "HTTP 404 Not Found..." Another link, please?
That's what I love about these boards. Ask a simple, honest question with a personal observation and you still get smartass answers. Go team!
Right, so PHP seats over 22,000 and well over half that stadium is full. Could this be a first for USSF...understating an attendance number rather than over-stating it.
