then again, in the world cup that was offset (apparently) by people applying for group games because they wanted to see more games. An awful lot of people applying for individual games just want to see as many games as possible in the time that they are there (typically less than two weeks) so applying for group games makes more sense.

You can apply for follow my team group tickets and IMT's to the knock out games, so the finals will be very popular.

    Hey Everyone,

First time back to the boards since Germany 2006 :)
What a time.... thanks to everyone here, I had the priveleges to enjoy 7 great games, all playoffs including the 2 semis :)

    Back for euro 2008
    Got a question

I was reading the Uefa ticket site, it says we can apply for
Follow my Team GROUP and also Individual Match Tickets for the 2nd stage and up. But We have to use a new application
    How is that possible?
We register a new application and fill out the exact same information, or what do we have to change?

    Thanks

Rush starts now for Euro 2008 tickets

SALZBURG, Austria, March 16 (Reuters) - Organisers of the 2008 European championship have reported a huge demand for tickets, with initial applications far outstripping the number of seats available.

About a third of the 1,050,000 tickets are up for grabs via the official website (www.euro2008.com), but tournament officials said on Friday they had already received around 2.5 million applications. Most of the tickets will be distributed using a lottery system once the window for applications closes on March 31.

A further 38% of tickets will be made available to competing countries via their national associations following the end of the qualifying competition.

Co-hosts Austria and Switzerland are the only countries so far guaranteed a place at the tournament, but applications have come in from a total of 128 countries including Australia, China, El Salvador and Uganda.

The tournament is set to take place from June 7-29, 2008, with matches being played in Geneva, Bern, Basel, Zurich, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Klagenfurt and Vienna.

I've got 2 mastercards, would it be possible to make one application in my name and the other in my sister's name with my other mastercard or would UEFA reject the application??

If they allow one mastercard for more than one application, then you can use two for two (there is no limit per household as on worldcup)

    Email from EURO 2008 staff:

    "Dear Football supporter,
Thank you very much for your E-mail.
Please note that it is possible that the the same MasterCard is used for different Applications. The Applicants shall guarantee that all payment transactions are processed smoothly. However, the name of the credit card holder does not have to be identical to the name of the Applicant.
    Best regards,
Your UEFA EURO 2008 ™ Ticketing Team"

If you are applyin for single games, then group your games from one city in one application and enter data of friend who lives in (or near) that city...

People living in the eight UEFA EURO 2008™ host cities will get home advantage for ticketing - with 750 seats at each game being set aside for local residents.

Looks like people have a better chance of getting Croatia tickets than England tickets.

Hi, i know this sounds like a stupid question, but do you think i could put an application in under my son's name ?? He's 13. But using my mastercard? My son has a passport.

I've allready put in one application under my name for a FMT Group ticket for Portugal & an application under my husbands name for Individual Match Tickets to a Saturday & Sunday game of the quarter finals in Vienna.

    WHAT DO YOU THINK ??

I dont think i'm going to end up with any, going by the amount of applicants there allready is-apparently !! :(

I haven't done my application for the Euros yet, but for the world cup, the "primary applicant" had to be the one whose name was on the card, i.e. you in this case. Maybe it's different this time.

Regarding the World Cup ticket swap thread, you can imagine how that went. Most of the posts went like...

Just as many or more were posted by people who did not get any tickets but were hoping to buy some for a reasonable price. I got a couple emails this way from "bigsoccer newbies" offering to sell me US v Ghana tickets for about 3 or 4 x face value.

Half way through the month it was 2.5 million! My guess is thet the majority of people who intend to apply would have done so in the first couple of weeks, but I imagine the final figure will be well over 3 million (for around 300,000 tickets).

Is that 2.5 million individual applications?

    Or 2.5 million ticket applications?

I believe it's 2.5 million tickets applied for. There's a press release about it somewhere on the Uero2008 web site.

    So if I am reading all of this correctly I can;

Make an application with my name with my new mastercard.

Make another application in my wife's name using the same card.

Has anyone seen anything that can contradict this?

    Very different to Germany!

Just registered 2 applications: 1 for 3 France FMT-group and 1 for 4 tickets to the final.

Bad, bad system IMO: they only ask for the primary applicant's info--I didn't have to give them any info regarding the other people in my application.

So you can bet the British hooligan touts that were all over Germany last summer have filled out thousands of applications for Enlgand, Germany, Italy, France, Holland, etc. FMTs and for individual final and semis tickets.

At least if they asked for info for all the members of your party, those would be names/passport numbers you couldn't use for other applications.

I'm sure many of us have decided to play it straight and only fill out one application (or one FMT-group + one IMT-knock-out stage application), but what are our chances against the thousands of touts who each have generated dozens of applications???

At least for WC 2006 you had phases 4 and 5, and with enough dedication and a good internet connection, you could snatch tickets, but for Euro 2008, it looks like if demand exceeds supply for this first phase, there won't be a phase 2 or 3 or 4.

Not good, not fair...
