I agree with Iceblink, sadly. Not against Iceblink - but because I can't believe I feel this way regarding the Fire. I'm excited for opening day. I'll be there early and I'll be jacked up. But anyone who can't see the hard times that have befallen this club, well, your lookingthrough blinders.

We've lost so much talent these last years and replaced so little of it. It's unreal. And what is Guppy doing? Really, what are YOU doing Guppy? You could never live up to Peter Wilt's example but it doesn't mean you can't try. You've seemingly done so little...

Sarachan, I guess I'm willing to give you one last shot. I hope you inspire me - or better yet, the TEAM. Play inspired soccer, play passionately, play to win. Someone needs to lead this organization and the rest of us will follow, players and fans alike.

I'm still spending my time and money on this club but I have to admit I ask myself why more and more. It feels like we've been on a downswing for some time. I'm hopeful the malaise ends this year, otherwise... I just can't think about it.

I agree... to an extent. We all knew as soon as we got the smug, insulting AEG press release on Guppy's appointment that he ain't Peter and never will be. I still think Guppy is more concerned with filling the skyboxes with suits than he is with the hardcore fanbase. I suspect that to him, we're just another stop on the march of his corporate career.

At the same time... If what people like Liam and Jay tell me is true, he has been working well with the S8 folks. He has improved our TV deal. While I have significant criticisms of last season, we did win the USOC after all because unlike some MLS teams, Guppy and Dave are smart enough to take it seriously.

Peter Wilt is virtually unique for a GM. How many other GMs at any level in any sport can you think of who are like him? In objective terms, Guppy is probably no worse (and certaily no better) than your average sports GM. Subjectively, it seems like we're faced with evil incarnate because we were spoiled before and now we've regressed to the mean. So while I sympathize with you and even agree with you to a large extent, if you're waiting for another Peter Wilt to grace our front office, you'll almost certainly be waiting until Langston is picking you up from the retirement home and hauling you to games in your wheel chair.

First came the summer of George, then the winter of Guppy.

Actually...I missed this. I will attend some games this season... We just won't be full season ticket holders this season.

In truth, I'm getting a bit antsy as the season is about to start. I got a call a couple weeks ago from my ticket rep... and I almost caved when I found out that they were at least doing something better with unused tickets for matches that were not attended... but in the end... I am still sticking with it.

I'll go to a few matches... but I just can't give all that money to the current administration.

Let's see if we can beat Dallas a little more often... maybe bring home the Brimstone. How long has it been in Dallas now? Why are we so consistently outcoached by other teams?

    Well, that's another story.

I'd rep loonixxx if I hadn't given out all of it already today.

It would be pretty difficult for me to be more excited. Following from afar as I've had to do the last couple of years sucks, but I still find a way to see most games.

Fire for the domestic treble this year! :D

  7. I'm as interested as ever.

And as ready as ever to get beyond the cranky off-season/pre-season threads!

As a full season ticket holder, you can exchange unused tickets for any. other. game. What in the world else do you want? Cookies and pie too? Name any other team with an offer that beats that as far as unused tickets is concerned.

if I'm a full season ticket holder, doesn't that still leave me with a handful of tickets at season's end?

If you're not smart enough to use the tickets that you paid for, yes. If you're expecting a full/partial refund policy for unused tickets, that would also be along the same lines as "not smart or anywhere in the area of common sense".

Now you can. It wasn't like that before.

    In any case... an update...

I ended up getting ONE flex plan for the season.

20 premier vouchers for the season. That way, the kid can come to some matches... and he can stay home with a sitter for others.

I also have started to realize that sitting outside of section 8 for the last couple years has added to my disinterest... so this way I can pick up some section 8 tickets on occasion as well.
