For at least the first 500 posts, anyway -- which we'll reach by halftime, right? :D

The USA's first match since the 2-0 dismantling of Mexico on February 7th, and the next step of preparations towards its CONCACAF Gold Cup and Copa America campaigns.

    USA vs ECUADOR
Raymond James Stadium -- Tampa, FL
    Sunday, March 25, 2007
    Kickoff 9 a.m. PT/12 noon ET
    LIVE TV: ESPN2

And also live on ESPN International here, at 2 a.m. Melbourne time... which means, yes, I'll be watching a friendly live, for once! :)

    AIM chatroom information

The current roster, from the latest matchday notes on the USSF's official site:

Defenders (9): Wade Barrett (Houston Dynamo), Carlos Bocanegra (Fulham FC), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City Wizards), Jay Demerit (Watford FC), Oguchi Onyewu (Newcastle United), Heath Pearce (FC Nordsjælland), Frank Simek (Sheffield Wednesday), Jonathan Spector (West Ham United)
Midfielders (8): DaMarcus Beasley (Manchester City), Kyle Beckerman (Colorado Rapids), Michael Bradley (SC Heerenveen), Brian Carroll (D.C. United), Clint Dempsey (Fulham FC), Benny Feilhaber (Hamburger SV), Justin Mapp (Chicago Fire), Brian Mullan (Houston Dynamo)
Forwards (5): Brian Ching (Houston Dynamo), Kenny Cooper (FC Dallas), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy), Eddie Johnson (Kansas
Cit y Wizards), Taylor Twellman (New England Revolution)
    Head Coach: Bob Bradley

And before the game kicks off... any predictions on the lineups or the scores, anyone?

    Man, 2:00 AM is brutal.

Anyway, if you are looking for something to do before the match starts, the U-17 Nats are playing El Salvadore this morning at 9:00 AM and our friends at US Soccer are streaming it live:

    http://www.ussoccer.com/sights/liveStream.jsp.html

    Cheers.

Back to USA v. Ecuador- I predict that most of the Euro first-teamers will play today and then head back to their clubs. This goes against Bob's stated best team for Gold Cup, second stringers for Copa plan, but it will help him toward another signature win (we hope anyway), will look good on the match that more people will match (weekend noon, with no real baseball or basketball competing), and will help relations with European clubs.

    Just my guess.

The inhumane treatment of graduate students assures me that i will not be able to watch the U.S. game today. I do not have DVR, does anyone know if this game will be re-played today on a different channel? I know Galavision is playing the game live along with ESPN2 at 11:00 CST. Please let me know if any of you have any information about this, it is MUCH appreciated.

Actually, during his broadcast, they have said to stay tuned as right after the game they will have a complete pre-game show from 11-12 before the US game, and then will also have post game show including Bradley and player comments, etc.

Looks like US Soccer is really trying to provide a lot of coverage. That is a good step in the right direction.

BTW, the live feed is actually coming in quite good for the U17.

That would lead me to believe this will be more the GC squad and the other game a CA team. Or Bradley hates Cooper:rolleyes:

Could it be that Bradley is gonna try to get most of the guys 1 start or significant minutes in one game or the other this week? Obviously Kenny would feel at home on Wednesday.

not even on the bench I didn't figure he'd be involved in this game although I'll be shocked if he doesn't see substantial time on wednesday. reports out of camp were that he was doing VERY well but chances are minds were already made up and everyone knows my EJ conspiaracy theories anyway.

maybe but i feel the Ecuador game is the "bigger test" ....then again, that's a hard thing to decide considering the many new players/players with few caps we are bringing in....

    Anyway..should be a good match....

Hope to see Cooper get the start on Wed. though ....would like to see what he can bring over 90 minutes ...or say 70....

Your grad school must suck. I'm a grad student too...I'm just heading to the local bar/restaurant that I frequent. They always put the games on for me and turn on the volume up just for me since I give them so much business. You need to find a place like that around your grad school.

The way the starters are posted above seems to be a bit misleading - in the webcast of the U-17 game Donovan was listed as in the midfield, it sounds like a 4-4-2 - hopefully a diamond - with Donovan playing AM and Benny at DM.

Edit: and i quoted a post that was edited...so basically nevermind.

Can't find it on the MatchTracker. I trust you all, but I'm looking for a published list on ESPNsoccernet.com anyhow.

Good lord that is an attacking lineup. I know Feilhaber has played some holding mid at Hamburg, but that's not his natural position, in my opinion. A central midfield of he and Donovan should be quite interesting.

Not much physical presence in central midfield.

I like Donovan and Feilhaber, but they're a couple of smurfs. That combination would probably work better against the Guats, who are a much smaller team.

    Let's see how it goes...
