Does anyone have any experience playing there?

I don't know enough folks to go in with a full team and would be registering as an individual player. Is this worth it? Anyone get in effectively this way?
My skills are "beginner" and would be looking at a co-ed league.

You can post or email me/PM me off board.

I don't have any experience at SoccerDome, but I've played at Soccerplex and Dream Sports, both indoor and outdoor teams at each, for several seasons, ending that about a year ago.

    Are you female or male?

If you are a female, and a beginner, I would suggest taking the extra few minutes to drive to Apex to the Dream Sports Center off Ten Ten Road. They have a TRUE beginner women's league (seems like it is on Thursday, but you'll have to confirm that) where you may feel more comfortable playing and learning the ropes.

I'm not sure of any beginning men's leagues.

My experience as a beginner playing in the coed league and in the women's league was not as pleasant as I would have liked. These leagues are more competitive than you may think. Most people there have played soccer forever and, even though they try to be tolerant, teammates will moan and groan over your gaffes, which are sure to happen.

That being said, if you don't want to join the women's beginner group, I do think the coed league would be more tolerant of a female at a beginner level than the participants in the women's league are.

Of course, this is just the experience of one person...so...Just 2 cents, and ONLY 2 cents, worht of advice! :D

I know several of the companies here in RTP have co-rec company teams there. They've been trying to get me to come play goal for a while.

Thanks for the input. I am woman, hear me roar.
Seriously, though, I do have some experience, but I would still consider myself a beginner. I played in a (w)rec(k) league in Chicago -- BBSL -- which is more known for its offseason drinking, but it did get competitive after a while, in a fun way though.

    Hey Kirsten,

Alot of my rugby buddies play at the soccerplex off of Davis drive. I've seen teams that were very competitve -- screaming at each other and crap -- and I've seen teams get the sh!t kicked out of them and go home happy. I think I know of two teams right now that would be about your pace ... The only problem is I'm not sure if they're playing the summer season or not.

Are you looking to just play or do the play and hang out afterwards thing? Because from what I've seen the teams at Soccerplex tend to just get together for the games and then split.

If you'd like me to give you some names, drop me a line at my e-mail address: blass_rogers@hotmail.com ...

And if you can't find a good soccer team, i could hook you up with some good rugby teams :D

I play in the Carolina Sportsplex league and enjoy it very much, but I am was on one of the more competitive teams. I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I just found out my team folded, due to a majority of my team moving away.

When we played one of the lower level teams, we would play by rules, (everyone including the keeper must touch the ball before shooting.) And the like.

Please feel free to pm me if you want more info.

I have played at both places.

I have played at both places. I like the Soccer Plex on Davis better. The turf is better, the playing surface is better and occasionally you get a ref who is actually certified. The dome's turf is older and the playing area is smaller. Smaller areas tend to make for more contact and more comtact leads to some loosing their temeper too quickly even in the co ed leagues. I think that I heard that the Dome made all their refs go through the entry level class so that may have improved there. The Dome is a better place to hang out afterwards and have a beer with friends. With all that I would recomend the Soccer Plex though. Mainly because of the facilities.
